To the tripoli one: So....you want an actual war against the guy who is trying to do what he was democratically elected to do (that you don't like) in a free country rather than the guy who is murdering people who are protesting against him in a dictatorship? Is that about right?
That's when you know people have lost ALL perspective (although that's been obvious for a while).
I've suspected that for all the moaning about the people who die in war (the innocent and guilty alike, though I'm not sure the moaners recognize the concept of "guilty") that the people "over there" are not REAL. And I've said so. They're an abstract to care about, somehow, but not real people.
Where is the problem of *perspective* between real people you know who are inconvenienced and abstract conceptual constructs some place else?
You know Synova, you're on to something there. Recently I saw a show on the teevee along this line that impressed me deeply.
I was watching one of the Zahi Hawass shows about Egypt, In Search of Mummies, a title that did not do justice to the show's content. He had a few photogenic American post grads with him, I suppose for the benefit of his American audience. One thin lithe sylphlike young girl was a delicate flower. Knowledgeable in Egyptian art and history, but a very poor adventurer. Emotional. At one point the Arab work crew celebrated a significant find by dancing, spontaneous singing, and slaughtering a goat on the spot. A present-day custom signifying the whole camp was overflowing with joy and celebrating spirit but which caused the post grad to wither. She couldn't have it. "Look, Dr. Hawass, if this is going on, then I have to leave." Hawass said, "Well, sorry to see you go then. Goodbye. Good luck with sel-eng hem-burr-gerz. " Or some such, he's a total bastard that way. She left in tears distraught over the goat and was replaced immediately with another post grad in the cue.
As I watched all that it occurred to me this is what makes the slaughters of Daniel Pearl, Jack Hensley, Eugene Armstrong among others, possible, I dare say, understandable.
That girl, a greater expert on the history of the land she was visiting than most of the people presently occupying that land, nonetheless she knew nothing of the culture of the present-day population and was perfectly appalled when she encountered its celebrations.
That doesn't even make sense! Is there any relation between the topics of Walker and Libya besides the fact that one pair of idiots feel the need to protest about both?
Synova's got it right: Perspective. Those idiots have none.
Oh! I alternatively love and loathe the guy. Love his personality, but acknowledge that it is due to him that Western archeologists have such a hard time these days practising their profession on his native soil. Because he's always confiscating their finds, and claiming them as part of the national patrimony.
It was only a couple weeks before the Egyptian National Museum was being looted that Hawass was on TV demanding that a priceless bust of Nefertiti be returned from Germany to Egypt, where it would be "safe". If it wasn't for the West, the Muslims would've wiped every trace of non-Islamic art from Egypt long ago.

From Obama's heart to the Wisconsin Capitol it is true that the war is in Madison.
Old commies never die, they just smell like they did.

Does this mean that Obama should take military action against Wisconsin Republicans?
wv: obacheni! Obama = Cheney!!!!11!!
They might as well hold up a sign that reads, "Hey, quit stealing our media coverage!"
These guys are a couple of professional 'vets'.
Another anti Obama protest in Madison. Those honkeys hate our African American POTUS
Will Madison be the next no fly zone?
How long until we see a bunch of Midwestern blue-hairs screaming "Allahu Akbar" in downtown Madison? Or did it already happen and I missed it?
Wow. Way to trivialize war. That wil certainly sway me over to their side. Death and destruction vs more free stuff. Yeah. Ok, I see their point.
It's the Me generation!
Reminds me of the seagulls in Finding Nemo. "Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!"

vote to support Gov. Walker..
They'd better not be there when Obama calls in an air strike on Madison!
