Looks like they could be scenes from Shaun of the Dead.

These people know how to protest. So much more interesting than the ones in Madison. Team Union in America is a bunch of pansies.

Simon म्हणाले...

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Back when I were a foolish young student, I went on my fair share of marches (usually we were protesting the Governtment's outrageous decision to make us contribute but a fraction of what a degree is worth), and one common characteristic of all of them was that the marches were always bolstered by the professional left—the protesting class, if you will. Their agenda was always the same: to take advantage of the opportunity to sell newspapers, engage in deep and sophisticated political debate ("you're a stalinist!" "yeah? Well you're a trotskyist!"), and if possible hijack the protest to serve the professional left's broader agenda of obliterating the last remains of what made Britain great. And the anti-war marches over there and over here were about the same: some people who were against the war and a mass of professional protesters.

Rick Caird म्हणाले...

These people are not anarchists. They are terrorists. They can not articulate what they really want. It is just an excuse to destroy people and property.

Anyone in a ski mask needs to be rounded up, arrested, and left in jail for a long time.

Anarchists in favor of more Government spending? Bullshit. They're the same Socialists/Liberals as always and everyone knows it.

I just took the Drudge Report home page image and blogged it as "When the Bread & Circuses Ran Out."

"TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said he 'bitterly regretted' the violence, adding that he hoped it would not detract from the massive anti-cuts protest.

'I don’t think the activities of a few hundred people should take the focus away from the hundreds of thousands of people who have sent a powerful message to the Government today,' he said."

Those "few hundred" should rightly define the view held by the general public. Sorry Brendan, if you don't police your own then it is either because you can't or don't want to.

Automatic_Wing म्हणाले...

I don't think "hijack" is the right word. Rampaging "anarchists" are just a standard part of any large scale left-wing demo these days, much like giant puppets and has-been folk singers. They raise hell, destroy property and intimidate the general public, then the official protest organizers deeply regret any violence and emphasize that the vast majority of the demonstrators were perfectly peaceful. Rinse and repeat as needed, it's all part of the same pantomime.

If the unions win this round in Wisconsin, that's what the next round will look like. After the default.

The Drill SGT म्हणाले...

@DBP, supporting that was this quote: UK Uncut, an anti-cuts direct action group, later occupied the Fortnum & Mason store in Piccadilly, claiming the firm had 'dodged' paying taxes.

so the anarchists are also anti-cuts groups, not totally disconnected from the march.

I also note the Labour Party Leader was a speaker...

Now we know there's an alarmingly high number of young people roaming around in your country with nothing to do but stir up trouble for the police and damage private property.
It doesn't look like they'll ever get a job
It's about time we did something constructive with these people We've got thousands of 'em here too. They're crawling all over. The companies think it's time we all sit down, have a serious get-together-And start another war.

Yea right? No pot arrests from all the hippies. No union thugs picking fights and getting arrested. Bor-ing. Conservatives, and especially Indiana conservatives, on the other hand have lots of ideas on how to spice up the protests. I can picture Walker being advised on the fake assination attempt idea, asking, "They *will* miss, right?"

I wonder how many hair-brained schemes Scott "We thought about" Walker actually considered.

Lincolntf म्हणाले...

They provide the cover, the motivation and the excuses for these violent thugs and then wonder why people blame them collectively. Here's a clue protesting shitheads, it's your freakin' fault!
You think one guy alone would be allowed to pry away at a door on the Capitol? No way in hell. But add a phalanx of pea-brained union members and riled up malcontents and all sorts of crimes are suddenly possible.
The people of Madison should take a good long look at those pictures.

Because of Obama's win, it's taking much longer than I ever expected, but slowly, oh so slowly, we're being pushed to when the shooting starts. And, because I understand the issues and participants the way I do, I already have my response ready for whenever that inevitable moment arrives:

I'ma rollover on my other side and catch a few more winks.

I think that the Madison demonstrations are the first ripples of situations such as this.

BUT.

Here in New York non profit agencies state wide are already aware of 7% across the board cuts and Gov.Cuomo has warned all unions and state employees of deep cuts to balance a $10 billion shortfall in the budget, 3 times the amount that Gov. Walker has to deal with and guess what?

So far not a mumbling word, no demonstrations, no recall petitions.

But why?

Here I think,Cuomo, being from an iconic Democrat family has made all the difference in the world. For now he's safe....for now.

Hypocritical?
Politics as usual?
Dishonest on the demonstrators part?

I'd say yes to all above.

These demonstrations will intensify as push comes to shove but one fact will defeat the demonstrators in the end.

There just is no more money.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Look at the pictures of the marching part of the protest.

It's all branded.

Bizarre.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

"Today's protest brought to you by Unison."

YoungHegelian म्हणाले...

The "hoodies" are the storm troopers of the institutional left. Notice how they seem to be involved in the planning of all these demonstrations?

They follow Stalin's dictum to the Red Army -- Advance until you meet steel.

This shit stops when the police and community drop the hammer on these clowns.

In 1999, the anarchists raised hell at the WTO in Seattle. They wanted to pull a repeat performance at the next meeting in DC.

What they didn't count on was that the DC police had much more experience in crowd control, and were led by a police chief who had no intention of letting his town be trashed by a bunch of imported left-wing honkies.

There were court settlements between DC and some protestors after the fact, but DC remained functional and intact throughout the protests.

अनामित म्हणाले...

This was highly organized. Will the police actually investigate who is behind the attacks?

Before the Wisconsin protests, I took inordinate pleasure in saying that in my new homeland, people protested that there were not ENOUGH cuts.

Now my boast falls like lint inside a belly button, when phoning my relatives. :(

vbspurs म्हणाले...

I just saw the photos. :(

Sometimes mobs riot in places that I do not consider my old haunting grounds in London, and it doesn't impact me emotionally.

But Fortnum & Mason's...

I spent my life taking tea there and at the Ritz. Just up the street from Fortnum's is Floris, the best men's perfumers in the world -- not to mention all the men's shops up and down Jermyn St, that male mecca for the bespoke crowd.

Some men just like to watch the world burn, indeed. I am delighted that Ed Milliband attached himself to that sentiment, unknowingly, moments before the demo turned ugly. It shows England what bad timing and instincts he has for a future PM.

Anyone in a ski mask needs to be rounded up, arrested, and left in jail for a long time.

Oh, heck no.

If they're actually anarchists, they have, by their own choice, renounced the protection of the laws, state, and police. Let them live with their own choice — shoot them down and let them bleed to death in the street.

If non-anarchist private citizens then want to provide medical assistance, fine, but don't pick them up in state-funded ambulances, don't let them go to public hospitals, and don't have the NHS pay their bills.

If they survive and want to sue, if they want the shooters prosecuted, laugh them out of court. They chose anarchy, they can have their fill of it.

Do be fair, though; announce the new policy on anarchists well in advance, so people who choose it know that they will get exactly what they chose.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

You gotta love seeing people who pay no taxes rioting because some other people don't pay enough. That's their whole point, and they really think that's the moral high ground. You don't have to be young to be dumb, lazy, and selfish, but apparently it helps.

Fen म्हणाले...

If they're actually anarchists, they have, by their own choice, renounced the protection of the laws, state, and police.

Nah, most anarchists are posers. Like the Shankman idiot who threatened Althouse. He identifies as an "anarchist" when he's not sponging off his mommy.

george म्हणाले...

Somehow I get the feeling that the people in these protests are the same ones whose parents caved when they held their breath and stomped their feet as children.

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

Chavs in balaclavas run'n amok. But I judge an anarchist by their footwear, and that seen in the photos cannot be faulted. Please, Madison, at least try to learn this one simple thing by example.

अनामित म्हणाले...

"In the US, those are Democrats."

Yeah, I didn't see any anarchists. What I saw was a bunch of government officials trying to intimidate the citizenry by using faux-violence.

Real anarchists would have tossed Molotov cocktails into the richy-rich buildings and burnt them to the fucking ground ... not just broken their plate glass windows.

These are government officials trying to shake down citizens. So, they want these tax paying businesses to be back in business collecting sales tax tomorrow. Thus, only a few broken windows and no fires.

I'm not at all convinced by the faked coverage of this event.

Michael म्हणाले...

UT: No, the anarchists were young, jeans wearing thugs venting their politics and bad football clubs. Govt. employees are too fat for jeans and too lazy for even the pussy anarchy on display. I wish I had been in F&M,however, so they might have seen a lunatic American willing to fight back.
