SNOWLIDARITY!

P1070291

(At the Wisconsin Capitol today.)

And look! It's slowly melting away!

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Is that a Polish Snowman?

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

Not so sublime.

Sorry for the pun. I spent the afternoon playing with dry ice along with a room full of first graders.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Looks like he knows the unions lost.

अनामित म्हणाले...

is there anything to the claim that Walker is having the windows of the Capitol building welded shut? I wouldn't think the unions would need to get affidavits from witnesses - couldn't they just take photos of the new welds?

अनामित म्हणाले...

Aren't the lefties wonderful!

Cute, pithy, and yet deeply serious at the same time.

Shanna म्हणाले...

Is that thing possessed? What's with the red eyes?

Creepiest snowman ever!

DADvocate म्हणाले...

I always knew those guys were a bunch of flakes.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I've seen that welding-shut thing twice, but nothing that's shall we say trustworthy. Could just be a rumor.

It is a whole heckuva lot harder to get into the Capitol today, which I am not a fan of. If people want to demonstrate in the Capitol, I say let them. The Government shall make no law abridging the freedom of Speech. Restricting speech to someplace other than the seat of Government certainly seems like a lawsuit waiting to be decided against those who would abridge where speech can take place.

TosaGuy म्हणाले...

That's why all those protestors were white! They were made of snow!

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

Does Walker know some non-union welders we're not aware of?

Fen म्हणाले...

Cool. We'll be holding our demonstrations on the Senate floor. And inside the Dem offices.

Michael म्हणाले...

MM: "Restricting speech to someplace other than the seat of Government certainly seems like a lawsuit waiting to be decided against those who would abridge where speech can take place."

Would generally agree, but at what point does the free speech of the few infringe on the work needed to be done for the many? I don't believe demonstrations are allowed in the Capitol building in DC.

Fen म्हणाले...

Dont know. But I'm hearing claims that one of the 14 fleebaggers was scooped up in a vice squad raid. There were underage sex workers involved.

TosaGuy म्हणाले...

There will be no abidgement of the freedom of speech, but the privilege of bringing a crockpot into the capitol will be severely curtailed.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

In Pennsylvania, he'd be what they call a phantom employee who never went to work but was put on the state payroll by some bigwig.

Fen म्हणाले...

Yah. I bet the fleebagging 14 are already registered to vote in Chicago.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

but at what point does the free speech of the few infringe on the work needed to be done for the many?

I don't see that work is not getting done. The Assembly passed the so-called Budget Repair Bill last week, didn't they?

@TosaGuy, I have heard that bringing food into the Capitol is being squashed, which I have no problem with. I think that's the genesis of the welding window shut story -- so people can't pass food in. (The whole welding things sounds too bizarre to be true to me).

Wince म्हणाले...

Actuarially speaking, a snowman's pension cost would be considerably less.

TosaGuy म्हणाले...

The protestors should get a choice of what they want to hear on the capitol PA system for the entire evening.

Rush Limbaugh or Vuvuzelas.

Triangle Man म्हणाले...

but the privilege of bringing a crockpot into the capitol will be severely curtailed.

If money is speech, then certainly warm gloppy food must be speech too!

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

You can bring a crockpot, you just can't call it a Hot Dish -- that's too Minnesota.

TosaGuy म्हणाले...

MM,

I'm having lots of fun with this as you can tell.

But on the serious side, basic strategy and tactics state that you provide your opponent an opportunity to leave the field and then make conditions such he embraces that option. Otherwise, you corner him and he becomes twice as dangerous.

I also suspect the after action review of this entire circus will include rules that will severely limit what can be brought into the capitol.

Calypso Facto म्हणाले...

Looking at a high near 40 tomorrow, I'd take a cash settlement if I were he.

TosaGuy म्हणाले...

This former Minnesotan bakes his hotdish in corningware, never in a crockpot. Crockpots are for roasts, soups and stews.

Fen म्हणाले...

But I'm hearing claims that one of the 14 fleebaggers was scooped up in a vice squad raid. There were underage sex workers involved.

Narrowing down on the perp. Does anyone know how many of the 14 are married?

And can he be detained in Illinios? I recall reading something in the Wisonsin Consitution that said he couldn't be detained during the session. But I'm not sure if he's protected by that while he's AWOL.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I think Sleeping Bags will be high on the list of verboten materials. Pillows. I think that's a good idea.

Shutting people out so they can't even go in, or demonstrate during the day? Or at night if the Legislature is meeting very late into the night? Not so good.

Early on, I recall a statement -- I almost call it a complaint, but it probably wasn't -- from I think one of the Fitzgeralds about how difficult it was to get work done in the Capitol because it was so crowded (it was hard to get from point A to point B). I don't think citizenry should make it easy for those who govern to pass a law that is objectionable to them. You might tell me that they're holding the majority of voters who voted for Walker, et al., hostage, and I might be convinced. Is the alternative to tell them to sit down and shut up? I hope not.

Fen म्हणाले...

Convicted of a felony, unless restored to civil rights.

Okay, if he's convicted of a felony, he loses his Qualified Elector status. And if he loses that, he can't hold office.

But that would be too far down the road to effect current events.

Are you smoking something?

Calypso Facto म्हणाले...

MM: the protesters were ordered to clear out last night, but refused. I think limiting access until the building can be returned to normal operating hours and occupancy is entirely reasonable.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Soundtrack for the image

Peter V. Bella म्हणाले...

Like the public employee unions, he is melting away.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

Nice. Did it just happen to melt, or was it built that way (with a bit of rock salt on the base to speed things along)?

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

These snowthings were on the other side of the capitol. <---lie.

Martin L. Shoemaker म्हणाले...

And I can almost hear his voice... "We've already won, you losers!"

That is garage in the picture, isn't it?

Don Surber म्हणाले...

Someone has a sense of humor

Synova म्हणाले...

I swear that snowman is more melted every time I look at it.
