The history of the NFL has long been hidden from its fan’s. Even so far as the symbols and logo’s and even the names of even its most storied franchises. For example the New York Giants were named after the original owner “Big” Tim Mara who had a penis that measured two inches long which is a world record for an Irishman. And the Logo of the famous Green Bay Packers was designed to honor the original owner Curly Lambeau’s first wife; Grendal.

I think the "G" stands for the spot where the Green Bay fans touch themselves when they think of the frozen tundra. And cheese.

Yeah, and suppose Curly Lambeau married Garage.
Q.: Would Garage keep his maiden name? Or would he just hyphenate?

Are you sure its not like KFC which once stood for "Kentucky Fried Chicken" but now in the age of healthy eating will simply stand for the brand.

In the same way G will just stand for the modern American football from the great state of Wisconsin.

No longer representing a white working-class port and manufacturing hub, the G will respresent diversity, high speed rail, cheese (but cheese always accompanied by a glass of fine wine) and all that is good and proGressive.

Yes, that is what "G" stands for.

(now if we could just change the name "Packer" to...)

Meade म्हणाले...

Wisconsin is a red state now.

"G" O.P.

Newer and remodeled KFCs now feature "Kentucky Fried Chicken" on their exteriors as well as packaging that spells out the original name. So, everything old is new again.

sonicfrog म्हणाले...

Of course it stands for "Green Bay"! It couldn't stand for "Greatness". If it did, there would have been a plethora of lawsuits from Al Davis... 'Cause, you know, he's sure he invented the term, and it can only be associated with ONE team... HIS!!!!

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

Tiki is full of ... himself.

There's nary a mention of the G standing for greatness in any documentation associated with the team during the initial use of the G on the side of the helmet.

I thought the Raiders were all about "excellence."

Well, in theory, anyway.

Triangle Man म्हणाले...

What about Gouda (pronounced goooodah in Wisconsin, but howda in Holland)?

Der Hahn म्हणाले...

and that long curved white marking on the Vikings helments stands for .... never mind.

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Well the rumor in the NFL for a long time was that it stands for gay as the original name of the team was the Green Bay Fudge Packers.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

They should be proud.
