"Reince Priebus elected GOP chairman, replaces Michael Steele."

"Priebus won late Friday afternoon after seven rounds of balloting. He received 97 votes out 168 ballots cast."

The Wisconsin guy with the strange name made it.

Any word on how to pronounce his name?

Skyler म्हणाले...

"The party is ready for something different." Wow. Understatement of the year. I doubt Priebus is what was desired, though.

Chad म्हणाले...

Steele was only selected as an affirmative action pick. As is usual, he was grossly unqualified.

PZ म्हणाले...

@Coketown

You pronounce it just like it looks!

Lincolntf म्हणाले...

So Reince Priebus can be the new punching bag for the idiots and hate-minstrels on the Left? Sweet.
I guess someone's gotta do it.
How long until Obama or one of his drooling idiot devotees blame Priebus for Tucson?
The Over/Under is at one week.

Ree-inse Pree-bus?

Sadly, Michael Jackson had planned to name his next child (boy or girl) Reince Priebus, but, hearing that the name was already taken, he hit the propofol . . . hard.

Triangle Man म्हणाले...

You need only go to Wisconsin's Pronunciation Guide for the answer.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Well I liked Michael Steele before he got the nod. Unfortunately his performance in office was less than stellar.

Hopefully for the Republican Party at this time next year donations will be way up AND we'll still be asking:

"How do you pronounce 'Reince Priebus'?"

Methadras म्हणाले...

Sounds like a would-be conqueror from ancient times.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Isn't 'Reince Priebus' that "Who wants to be a millionaire?" dude?

Peano म्हणाले...

Sounds like a dandruff treatment.

J म्हणाले...

Reince "RINO" Priebus. Looks like a yankee, mutha-f-er.

Priebus allegedly received some bailout money--so where be the A-house teabuggers whinin' about that?? They're probably awaiting orders from headquarters-- GlennBeck.com

FWBuff म्हणाले...

I think it's great that the black guy is named "Michael Steele" and the white guy is named "Reince Priebus"!

James म्हणाले...

The Left always tells us who they fear the most so attacks by the likes of Jon Stewart should be worn as a badge of honor.

Groups like Media Matters were pushing the story about Priebus' law firm pitching Obamacare in the hopes that he would lose support.

Look at what he orchestrated in the home of Fighting Bob and the birthplace of American Progressivism. He managed to elect a genuine Tea Party senator, a governor who is serious about addressing Wisconsin's problems, and won huge majorities in both houses of the state capitol. No wonder the Left attacked him; they fear he will replicate that feat nationally.

From what I've seen, he's another Michael Steele.

Oh, well, they say National Committees are becoming irrelevant, anyway.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin will continue to be the face and voice of Republicans in the ways that most people will care about.

Honestly, I think she's probably up to the job of president, but I think she's too polarizing now to get the job. But, she has a way of setting the tone, framing the argument, and getting people engaged that I would assume would make for the ideal RNC chairman. But, I guess that's not what the party cares about.

With this nomination I wonder what it is the party does care about. From all I can tell, they mostly care about being obscure and not talked about.

D.D. Driver म्हणाले...

PO: Palin is a dope. She is to politics what Britney Spears is to music.

She would be a terrible RNC chair because she wants the spotlight. This election was about getting a talented person who is interested in doing the hardwork to raise money and mobilize campaigns. Not someone wasting all day drawing attention to herself on Facebook.

Hagar म्हणाले...

By their enemies ye shall know them, and Michael Steele had about as good a set as anyone could have.

Beldar म्हणाले...

Good news for the Ryan-Rubio '12 ticket, no?

Methadras म्हणाले...

Wow, good thing I'm not a republican.

Amartel म्हणाले...

Ha ha. He has a funny name. Haha ha. Ha. Funny people have funny names. Jon Stewart has a fake name.

Finish the thought. . .

Hi, D.D. Driver! Hope your 2 year long nap has been great! Welcome back to political discussions after being gone since 2008!

No, seriously, he has a science-fiction villain name.

I like it, but "Reince Priebus" seems like it should have an "Overlord" or "StarKhan" in front of it."

Jenner म्हणाले...

Steele never had support from the "establishment." So there is no way Palin would do any better in that job. I hope Steele keeps working on his own, similar to the way Palin has. Before he went to the RNC he was a very good commentator. After he took the office, his appearances diminished and all we heard (never saw) were his supposed missteps.

Revenant म्हणाले...

Palin is a dope. She is to politics what Britney Spears is to music.

Er... so "enormously successful", then? Spears sold 100 million albums, which ranks her alongside The Who, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac.

J,

Priebus allegedly received some bailout money--so where be the A-house teabuggers whinin' about that?? They're probably awaiting orders from headquarters-- GlennBeck.com

I love how liberals keep trying to stick the Althouse crowd with Beck when he rarely comes up here. If memory serves, it's been almost a year since his name was even a topic of discussion and, even then, he only got some meager/limited support. Yet, somehow, we're "awaiting orders" from him.

More proof Liberals are delusional. Another example is D.D. Driver's comment:

Palin is a dope. She is to politics what Britney Spears is to music.

She would be a terrible RNC chair because she wants the spotlight. This election was about getting a talented person who is interested in doing the hardwork to raise money and mobilize campaigns. Not someone wasting all day drawing attention to herself on Facebook.

It seems to me, she isn't "drawing attention to herself on Facebook' but using Facebook to attack those who throw the spotlight on her - as we saw in the immediate attacks that came her way after the recent shooting. And not only that, but she kicks the ass of everyone who attacks her - with only Facebook! Hardly "wasting" anything but her opponents.

When are you Libs going to get the story straight in your heads? Is it even possible? It certainly doesn't seem like it. Not with that displayed level of confusion, about the basic/simple facts, anyway.

That reminds me of what Bruce said on an earlier thread in response to the following claim:

"Her critics blast her, she over-reacts to that criticism, and then her critics have to over-react to her over-reaction."

Bruce: "I don't think that she over-reacts. What she does appears almost surgical. One jab, and the fight is over."

It reminds me of this:
Short and sweet

D.D. Driver म्हणाले...

"When are you Libs going to get the story straight in your heads?"

Lib? What gives you that impression. I consider my self to be a traditional conservative in the vein of Barry Goldwater. Sarah Palin is what I call a Needlepoint Conservative, like my mom. I love my mom, I have deep respect for my mom. But my mom has no business running this country.

It isn't Michael Steele's fault that the Republican Party sucks. It's the blue bloods fault.
