I love the non-uniformity of sweet potatoes and yams. Quite a few of them look like rats.

I've got some food for thought over at my place, too.

And yea, I'm a yam fan.

I bet Meade said "I've seen bigger."

Unknown म्हणाले...

Troop, you have an evil mind.

The Blonde, however, loves sweet potato pie. If she ever gets over this cold, you guys better keep your yams in a safe place.

Trivia: Sweet potatoes are not related to regular potatoes. Sweet potatoes are actual roots, whereas regular potatoes are part of the plant stems. In fact, regular potatoes are more closely related to tomatoes than to sweet potatoes.

I thought you were going to say sweet potatoes are not related to yams. Yams from Africa, sweet potatoes from Central America. Sweet potatoes mendaciously and persistently wrongly called yams in the US for marketing reasons.

The store had three species of sweet potatoes. This caused me to become confused. I chose the sweet potatoes with the middle color.

That reminds me, I still have some left.

Thousands of birds fell out of the sky in Beebe, Arkansas.

Just before folks in Beebe rang in the New Year, many witnessed an uncanny resemblance to the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." About 2,000 black birds fell from the sky off Windwood Drive, leaving quite the mess to clean up.

You probably should serve that sweet potato with some sweet thistle pie.

Yeah, it's Cracker again, but since they had a song titled "Sweet Potato," it was a no-brainer.

In DR we call it Batata.

"The cuts that come from hitting the edge of a table are typically linear as opposed to stellate, or star-shaped. As such, Dr. Bregstein said: 'they come together beautifully. But it's hard to say if they will lead to a scar.' Scarring is largely a matter of genetics, she added."

Kids trip and fall and hurt themselves on coffee-tables. It's news for people who read the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/30/garden/30tables.html?_r=1

We ceded the living room to the children and use a table similar to this as a coffee table. All the edges are rounded.

We also have those grey, foam bumpers across a twenty foot expanse of sharp-edged brick hearth.
