"When I thought my dogs and I were having deep, meaningful conversations, I knew it was time to get out of the house."

"And I needed the money."

I like hanging with my doggie. We just chit-chat though--nothing too heavy.

Ordinary conversations are maybe hard to notice.

Let's go out and do something please for instance.

That is acknowledged by a quick ear fluffing, if the request itself isn't acted on, so that the fruitfulness of talk itself isn't compromised.

It's now been several hours since DADT was repealed, an issue that the professor railed about for months, and still no thread. Why? Because she'd have to acknowledge that Obama keeps his promises?

Retirement is like an early death, but working reduced hours can be a blessing. We need to be needed in the AM, and then we need some rest. Getting the car washed and the golf game improved are not enough for a man.

It's when you are having a deep, meaningful conversation with the box turtle you found in the yard that you really need to get out of the house.

franglo, you missed a few posts. No doubt Althouse will post about the upcoming gay quotas.

My boss's dad turned 80 in August and still comes to work every day. My father (83) has a 24 hour job waiting on the sick bitch he married hand and foot.

Someone check up on this reporter's parents, please. We know what the NYT blogger on families did to hers.

This is undoubtedly Bush's fault.

My mechanic's father is living my dream retirement. He's about 85 years old and spends his time building airplanes, hanging out at the airport, and deciding which of his planes he's going to fly on any given day. He owns a Mooney, a WWII liason plane, and 4 homebuilt aircraft (an EAA Biplane, a Cassutt racing plane, a Wittman Tailwind and an autogyro). That's living!

It's ok to work into your senior years if that's what you want to do. It isn't so nice if you have to do it and health issues may make working impossible. A good friend of mine worked past his 70th birthday and is retiring tomorrow. Unfortunately, he has been in the hospital since the 13th with a serious illness. I hope to retire early enough to still have my health so I can enjoy non-working life a bit before I go.

Uh uh. There's not a post today about the HISTORIC REPEAL of DADT. There's no post on Insta. It's like if anything Obama does could be seen in a positive light it goes down the memory hole. You know what? To hell with it. I'm just going to go back to working to make sure Obama is reelected, and to hell with the hypocrites.

Before 1936 the US and it's population did just fine dealing with it's issues. Now look at us with SS and the dependency it's created and that goes for all entitlements.

franglo makes me hungry for those little mints they used to sell at Marshall Fields.

Being serious for a moment, if we had only trained our news anchors, Senators, Congress critters and SCOTUS judges how to handle their money, they would not need to be working in their golden years.

DADT is still in force. Perhaps you don't understand what's in the law. Check my new post.

The "I needed the money" line is what's important. A lot of people are finally realizing what a scam Social Security is and how no one can live on it.

Maybe his dogs would rather be outside dog sledding.

I knew I had to get out of the house when my nieghbor Sam's dog started talking to me.
