You can make your own videos at that site. My brother keeps me laughing with his creations there...
He and I were also just discussing our local library referendum. We love the library out of nostalgia, but like the NYT, isn't it something of a dinosaur in this day and age? Shouldn't we be looking for ways to keep it relevant while downsizing, rather than just adding more square feet of book storage?
The advent of 'citizen journalism' (blogging) and portable devices (cell phones and hand-held video cameras) is really taking its toll on the 'news' business. What has been learned about the 'news' business by folks that never really considered what it is - a product - is that it is full of bias. Video cameras eliminate a lot of bias, in terms of recording events. Reportage has been sullied by poor ethics and individual self-interest. I can still see the bumper sticker I had on the inside of my locker in high school - 'Question Authority'. Too bad the MSM doesn't toe that line any more, thats why they will go the way of the rotary phone.
The insistence on writing only for the NYT and achieving the perceived lifestyle that entails exemplifies the naivety in the extreme that in large part has fueled the higher education bubble.
@Calypso Facto: No thanks. I like my libraries fat and full. Sure, they could get rid of the books that I'm not interested in reading, but not the ones I want, or might want next year.
Maybe, if every book published gets digitized (not anytime soon) and accessible, I could see closing libraries. Until then, they're a weekly stop.

"'Question Authority'. Too bad the MSM doesn't toe that line any more...."
It's hard to "Question Authority" when it is that authority that is underwriting your employer and is therefore paying your salary.
Most muckraking investigative journalism in recent decades has been undertaken by independent news organs or independent journalists.
"I think it's the robot voice that makes that so damn funny."
If he can't get a job at the New York Times, I bet the WeatherBand Radio Channel will hire him.
This robot could become Time's person of the year soon.
Even better:

I like the one about being an English Grad student too. Those are great videos.
There's even one of these over on a Yanmar compact tractor forum.
Husband to wife: "I WANT a YANMAR tractor. I WANT a Yanmar tractor . I WANT a Yanmar tractor...."
It is pretty funny. (If you like tractors. ;-) )
Her asking for the iphone with the big GB's was better. This is pretty close.
....for the New York Times....but I was so awful and such a liar that they wouldn't hire me so I had to go write copy for faux noise."
