Reporters [have] asked me what this meant for the death of print or the decline of The Post. I pushed back, as I happen to believe that newspapers are going to be around for a long time. Let's not get carried away here.... Still, there's an awful lot of energy and excitement in the Web world.Yes, there is.

"I could not have imagined doing this five years ago, as a guy who just plain likes paper."
Howard Kurtz, on leaving The Washington Post to join The Daily Beast.

Rat.
Ship.
Sinking.
Same old story.
I like Howie Kurtz; I was disappointed to hear this.
And not because of any love for WaPo but just for a vague disgust of Tina Brown and the Daily Beast.
I love my wife but oh you kid!
Nothing says reputable like writing for a publication called "The Daily Beast" (yes, I know it's from Evelyn Waugh). At least Countess Huffington had the tact and sense to name her site after herself.
Daily Beast... Daily Beast... Hmmm.
Come to think of it, maybe Tina Brown did the same.
Kurtz is not a rat. He is about as straight a reporter you'll find in the MSM. He is entering a cesspool w/ the Daily Beast. It started out w/ some potential, but has slipped into the Tina Brown circle jerk of MSM.
Halladay throws a no no...first in postseason since Don Larsen. I know you'll never get this stuff from the queen of non sports. I'm guessing the prof and the mate never engaged in competetive team sports. Probably not tough enough to compete physically, I sense they're marshmallows, or w/ the camping experience, s'mores.
What will be surprising, shocking even, to Mr. Kurtz will be the realization that he has far less real credibility than the anonymous (or not) people who will be right along with him for his online ride.
I've often maintained that not a single (usually AP) political article in my local newspaper could stand up to a half hour of research by the commenters on a decent blog. The same will likely be true of whatever Kurtz produces.
Howard Kurtz is a lying sack of shit and a appolgist for every journalistic scumbag that ever walked the face of the earth.
The only thing worse than a journalist is a lawyer.
Oh, man, print media is so over. Howie Kurtz has left. When the history of 21st Century journalism is written (or broadcast, or vibrated into your epidermis), this will be the defining moment.
Fish gotta get wrapped. Bird cages gotta be line. Papers will be around for a long time.
The newspaper business will be alright as long as they have David Brooks, Tom Friedman and The Richard Cohen Who Hasn't Slept With Althouse.
But if those three migrate ever over to The Daily Beast, the entire thing will explode with an earth-shattering Kaboom!
The horror, the horror...
Didn't Marlon Brando play him in that crappy Vietnam movie?
I thought he was dead already.

That was his cousin, Colonel.
as for the movie, it had a couple of scenes I recognized, and a couple I loved. The rest was Schlock.
Handbasket. Hell. Modo. Friedman. Brooks. Tina Brown. Et cetera
The smart papers will go digital. The dumb ones, like the one run by Pinch (who's running it into the ground as he rapes it), will sink by the bow.

He is now. Good to see someone else thinks that flick was dreck.

We are fast approaching Kurzweil's Singularity. Resistance is futile.
Doesn't anyone want Maureen Dowd? She could do a great humor section just by writing about the Palins and the Clintons. I would subscribe to read that.
Palladian;
I love the changing houses
Are you an artist or something?
Our modern anti-Diogenes has left The Post to continue his so far fruitless search for a biased journalist.
I always knew that Kurtz was of the Beast, Huffpo ilk, he just confirmed it...
