Very cool photos.

UW has a cathedral? How does that square with the 1st amendment guarantee of Freedom From Religion?

It is an early weekend with a cafe up already. We could start a Palin thread...maybe about how well she dances, the older Palin that is. We have seen her do a tap dance around the GOP establishment, and we have seen her do a Cucuaracha dance on Obama's head. But can she waltz her way into the Inaugural Ball in January, 2013?

Thanks for the link--you "Rouen'd" it for us. :)

Interesting that we associate red with warm and blue with cool. No doubt this comes from the colors of fire and water. Yet blue light is actually more energetic than red light is (per photon). But I'll bet you already "nu" that.

I wonder if she can can-can.

TG,

This one's for you.

It a "cathedral" for "people of faith" or those who have a "faith tradition" or even those who have "spiritual practices". Its a place meant for "reflection", "meditation" and "connectedness". And...

its a cool building with some awesome glass windows though I've never been inside

(basically a larger version of this. And odds are you won't find one of these there)

Another distorted view of religion.

Thanks 1jbp...that was hilarious, especially the Vegas Show Girl shot and "seeing the moon from her house". The movie version of Palin's life could be acted by Demi Moore. Demi practiced for that part as G I Jane fighting the GOP Parliament of Whores first in Alaska and soon in DC.

We were visiting Williamburg and its 210 year old College, William and Mary. Named of course for the new Protestant Reagents and to this day overseen by the English Prime Minister. The colleges were for training of Anglican Ministers, and the Old Bruton Parrish Church is 100 yards away and still an active Episcopal Congregation. BUT, in the Chapel of William and Mary even a small Cross's presence was a forbidden artifact since the State of Virginia began to oversee the college as well. What a stupid thing to do to us by the SCOTUS.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

That is a 310 years old college.

No big fan of these New Age cathedrals, regardless of denomination, but you do know how to bring out the beauty, Madame.

No tap dance, more like a Ranger speed march.

I did my poll this afternoon instead of evening. Whew! The fall-out from Juan Williams is getting nowhere.

We are on target for House (224+) and Senate (54+).

The POTUS and FLOTUS are working hard. The voters are back on table for Dems.

Memo to NPR: Please control yourself. I need victory to support myself and for getting a big share of consultancy for 2012.

I'm not a particular fan of conspiracy theories, more often than not they are just a method of justifying one's own prejudices. But it turns out that one of my coworkers is a major conspiracy theorist and believes, among other things, that:

-Bush caused 9/11
-Obama is Kenyan
-JFK was killed by the US intelligence community because he was going to investigate aliens
-That the govt. regularly travels throughout the galaxy using ESP to instantly travel from planet to planet
-That the govt. bans hallucinogenic drugs in order to keep our "3rd eye" closed and prevent us from reaching our true mental potential
-That doing what you are told in high school makes one into a criminal

At first I spoke up, but after a while I just decided to keep my mouth shut as it quickly became clear that nothing would convince him otherwise. What was really distressing was that my other coworkers seemed to take everything he said as fact.

Sure, if President Obama invites her.

What should be done about the people in our own government that are passing classified information for publishing on the internet?

I cannot believe that they can't be tracked down and if not, why not?

Another few thousand fraudulent voter registrations turn up in Colorado.

GOP will be lucky if they can seat 30 senators in the next congress.

So can it be used as a mosque? Or does UW have one of those elsewhere on campus?

I am wowed. I'm a new reader and I stop by for the political and philisophical discourse.

Ann, you are quite an artist. The way you have painted this scene in different perspectives is the way all of your topics are covered. I give your faithful credit for that. I recommend your blog to whoever I feel worthy.

"Dr. Obama Has Misdiagnosed Peasantry's Ills"

http://bit.ly/cwsjfn

Opening a whole new branch of cognitive science — liberal psychology — Obama has discovered a new principle: The fearful brain is hard-wired to act befuddled, i.e., vote Republican.

But of course. Here Obama has spent two years bestowing upon the peasantry the "New Foundation" of a more regulated, socially engineered and therefore more humane society, and they repay him with recalcitrance and outright opposition. Here he gave them ObamaCare, the stimulus, financial regulation and a shot at cap-and-trade — and the electorate remains not just unmoved but ungrateful.

Faced with this truly puzzling conundrum, Dr. Obama diagnoses a heretofore undiscovered psychological derangement: anxiety-induced Obama Underappreciation Syndrome, wherein an entire population is so addled by its economic anxieties as to be neurologically incapable of appreciating the "facts and science" undergirding ObamaCare and other blessings their president has bestowed upon them from on high.

I have a better explanation. Better because it adheres to the ultimate scientific principle, Occam's Razor, by which the preferred explanation for any phenomenon is the one with the most economy and simplicity. And there is nothing simpler than the Gallup findings on the ideological inclinations of the American people:

Conservative: 42%. Moderate: 35%. Liberal: 20%. No fanciful new syndromes or other elaborate fictions are required to understand that if you try to impose a liberal agenda on such a demonstrably center-right country — a country that is 80% non-liberal — you get a massive backlash.
