I just scrolled through all 81 of these Emmy photos so you don't have to.
Lots of people have voted on what looks best, and to my eye, it's clear. For color, people want to see white or off-white. Definitely not purple. For style, they like simple. A strapless sheath, with beading for interest, is best. This ranks #1, and the rest of the voting plays out in accordance with how close you get to exactly that. So don't do this. Or this. Or this. And especially not this.

I like the first 'this', very Egyptian, so I naturally like it. Except for the shoulders, very un-Egyptian so those cannot be liked.

The inkling of a desire never would have considered making the effort to try and creep into my mind.
The black girls always look good wearing patterns. Colors on white girls are distracting. A ponytail is also more complimentary to a model. Julia Roberts though looked divine wearing black/white Valentino and her hairstyle prima !
Jennifer Hudson, an angel wearing all black. I'm feeling kind of tired, I think I'll get into a pair of sweats which is what movie stars wear most of the time anyway.
I rather liked Anna Paquin's dress.
[All I have to say about the Primetime Emmy's is that Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) got snubbed. She kicks ass on that show. John Lithgow did win for his excellent guest role as a serial killer in Season 4.]
These Emmy red carpet women are not as good looking as many that I know. What has happened to Hollywood? Kate Gosselin was prettier than the real stars.
Susan Sarandon. She could show the otherwise wonderful Christina Hendricks a thing or two about how to show off a magnificent rack.

1) longoria looked best (though she also posed the "best" also)
2) thank God I'm a man.
The Grecian style dress, draped from one shoulder, usually the right shoulder, preferably in white, is the simplest, most elegant dress style ever designed.
And especially not this.

Claire Danes looks lovely, and I agree about Nina Dobrev, whoever that is. I feel old sometimes looking at these award show recaps as I don't know who half these people are, and I actually do watch tv.
Just more parasitic human infants, I guess.
Claire Danes looked hot as hell. Jewel looked great too, but she still hasn't fixed those snaggle-teeth. However, the two best in my opinion were Sophia Margera and Christina Hendricks. Kate Gosselin? WTF?
Whenever I seem these rich women in their borrowed gowns, I remember a line from Maugham's Ashenden. He knew the German baroness was a spy because she was expensively dressed but scantily bejeweled.
I thought Claire Danes looked odd. I mean the fashion is fine but she looked strangely hollow and vacant. I still remember her mainly as a young girl from "My So-Called Life", even though I never watched the show. But when I saw her picture just now my immediate thought was "What happened?" She's only 31 years old but her picture makes her look like 40 going on 31. Maybe it was just a bad shot. But there's no life and personality in her face at all. And the too blonde tint of her hair just emphasizes it.
Okay, for the record, I don't understand hot women like Christina Agulera or Christina Hendricks with these ugly, fuckass husbands. WTF? These women are too hot for these ugly fuckers? Is it money? Do they have big dicks? WHAT IS IT?!?!?!
What did these guys do to land these hot-ass wee-minz!!!
Oh, also forgot to mention The Klum!!! Oh man, The Klum was rockin'.

Worth scrolling through all 81 to realize there were few I'd be interested in wearing even if I had the body, money or occasion to do so.
haha - love these comments! Especially the several that ask "who are these people?!" clicked on Ann's links & only recognized ab 2 names, and even fewer faces! I've heard of Claire Danes, but sure didn't recognize her (even had to google her to see if I was remembering incorrectly). She was who I thought she was, but I guess the consensus is she's had a nose job, I still can't get over how different she looks. And yes, her dress looked amazing, but I agree with whomever commented upthread that she looked somewhat vacuous - maybe she was just trying too hard to be glamorous, or maybe she's pregnant and afraid her husband will leave her in her 7th month!
I guess it has a lot to do with which ones know how to pose, and have good posture, since most of them are way above average in looks and have all the money you could ever want in order to dress well. Eva Longoria Parker, for instance, makes her dress look good. Others look as though some kind of random pattern had been draped over them, like Lauren Graham. Wanda Sykes looked great for a broad with a funky figure.
Who ARE all these women, anyway?
