"There are no expensive cuts here, no real steaks," he said. "The best you've got is the flank steak on top of her head."...PETA always uses that rhetorical move. Instead of that animal you don't care about, picture the family pet.
"It's the cheaper end cuts - not including her. You got about $100 of meat there," said Mark Cacioppo, 30, of Queens....
"It ain't refrigerated. It's probably stinking bad. She's in the lights: It's cooking," said Peter Cacioppo....
"What's next: the family cat made into a hat?" asked Ingrid Newkirk, head of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Anyway, Lady Gaga went on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" — too bad YouTube hasn't yet perfected the internet equivalent of Smell-O-Vision — and explained herself...
... with delightful incoherence. She doesn't want to be "just another bitch in a dress." She claims it has to do with her opposition to Don't Ask Don't Tell, which flummoxes the poor vegan Ellen.
I love the part where she proclaims herself "The most judgment-free person on the face of the earth." Ha. When did "judgment" acquire a 100% negative meaning.

Typical ENTJ comment!
What about the breast and thighs?
Edie Brickell, "Shooting Rubber Bands at the Stars," included a song with the line, "You can't judge me for that."
There's absolutely no reason to comment on this thread. Not even to comment here to prevent other comments.
How can she say she's not performing when she's wearing that?
(wv: lunche!)
I thought she was one of the stiffs from the Body Worlds exhibit.
Camille Paglia is justified almost instantly. Perfect!
"When did "judgment" acquire a 100% negative meaning. "
The 60's. It used to be the boomer mantra. Now judgment is all they do, We should have seen that coming.
When Lady GaGa says "eat me" our carnal desires are aroused half by her invitation to a succulent Bar-b-que and half by her strip-steak-tease.
Jesus said "Judge not, that you be not judged."
Face up to the real source of the idea.
By the way, I saw a meat dress — complete with stitched seams — in a museum many years ago. It's not a new idea.
"Jesus said "Judge not, that you be not judged."
I knew it was hippies behind it. Then in the 80s, they got hair cuts and again demanded everyone get in line.
"Jesus said "Judge not, that you be not judged.""
I don't think Jesus meant fashion.
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Ann: Face up to the real source of the idea.
This is commonly misunderstood. It doesn't mean that you should not judge. It means "dont judge if you are not prepared to be judged".
"I don't think Jesus meant fashion."
Gaga was talking about everything, not just fashion.
And Jesus has been a fashion icon through the ages, though most of his followers do not adopt the Jesus look.
"This is commonly misunderstood. It doesn't mean that you should not judge. It means "dont judge if you are not prepared to be judged"."
I judge that to be an incorrect statement and I am prepared to be judged.
In that passage, Jesus is all about looking to your own sins and perfecting yourself and being full of love and forgiveness for others. You will never fully accomplish that, so you will never get to the point where you will be able to judge others and escape the negative judgment of God.
The Jesus look doesn't go over very well at work.
Mostly the sandals without socks thingy. Hygiene. Though it might fly if we washed each other's feet every day.
Who is this Jesus dude? Why if we cannot judge others, than the GUILT tool that makes politics and religion cults function is lost! Fear of being lost within a merciful group means Christianity takes plenty of faith (risk).
How did the Apostles cut their toenails?
I mean, eeeewww.
VW: ismsin
ismsorry.
"Gaga was talking about everything, not just fashion."
Jesus never attempted the awesome breadth that is the Gaga. A wise man knows his limitations.
In the 1960s and onward, the idea behind "judge not" became perverted into the idea of moral relativism and amorality in general. You're supposed to love the sinner, but hate the sin. Somehow, the second part got lost.
No one complains about positive judgments, do they?
Christians are supposed to judge and deal with sin within the church. Paul wrote, "What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked man among you." (1 Corinthians 5:12-13.)
All that has really changed is the flavor of the sins that became popular foils. Today's fundamentalists on the left are every bit as judgmental and power hungry as anything the inquisition had. Since everyone was poor back then, they had to resort to physical punishment. Now it's financial, involving courts and government fines, but just the same at the core. One group is imposing their values on another, less powerful one. The unwashed masses. As back then, it's still the hosts being ruled by the parasites.
PETA's full statement:
Last night, Lady Gaga tried once again to shock the world, this time by wearing a "meat dress" during her acceptance of the Video of the Year award at MTV's Video Music Awards.
Lately, Lady Gaga has been having a hard time keeping her act "over the top." Wearing a dress made out cuts of dead cows is offensive enough to bring comment, but someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people who are upset by butchery than who are impressed by it—and that means a lot of young people will not be buying her records if she keeps this stuff up. On the other hand, maybe it was fake and she'll talk about that later. If not, what's next: the family cat made into a hat?
Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn't want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots—not too attractive, really.
The stunt is bringing lots of people to PETA.org to download a copy of our vegetarian/vegan starter kit, so I guess we should be glad.
A wonderful side note to mention, Ellen DeGeneres (who is vegan herself), presented Gaga with a veggie bikini and suggested she try that next time she wants to make a statement. Thanks, Ellen!

About the same time "discriminate" did. It used to be that we could discriminate between things, like right and wrong, or marriage and non-marriage.
Now attempting to discriminate between marriage and non-marriage is discriminating against non-marriage, at least for certain protected classes of non-marriage.
forgiveness for others.
Repentance first, then forgiveness.
Luke 17:3 "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him."
Matthew 7: Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
Does anybody else see the downward spiral we've been in ever since women were allowed to vote?
"In the House of Representatives Don't Ask Don't Tell was just overturned"...
Uhm no, that would be a California Federal court. Jeez, if you're going to be an advocate for something, it would help if you actually know what you're talking about.
Nice meat though (usually I would say that in a gay bar or something).
PETA's full statement:
I'll start paying attention to PETA's statements when they make something other than a milquetoast declaration about abortion.
Their current stance, last I checked, was that pro-abortion groups had no official stance on animal cruelty, so PETA has no opinion on the treatment of the living, feeling beings that just happen to be in utero.
"so PETA has no opinion on the treatment of the living, feeling beings that just happen to be in utero."
So what will Gaga wear next to outrage us? I think we need to stop asking to be outraged, before we really get what we're asking for.
It will be depressing when we find out that nothing really outrages us enough to do something about it.
"So what will Gaga wear next to outrage us?"
A fetus dress might be shocking.
Or she could wear a burqa with explosives strapped on.
A Koran dress.
But only if she lights it afire.
1. I am totally turning my cats into a coat when they die. They have gorgeous fur.
2. Raw meat would not start to stink that fast, I don't think.
When did "judgment" acquire a 100% negative meaning.
Sometime around the publication of Allan Bloom's The Closing Of The American Mind.
Perhaps the great irony in Lady Gaga claiming that she is non-judgmental is that she IS JUDGING every "bitch in a dress" who DIDN'T wear the supermarket butcher's cast-offs.
Unless, of course, she meant "bitch in a dress" in a completely positive and non-judgmental way...
Damn, I had the same thought as Pogo (the Koran dress) but he beat me to it.
Maybe Lady Gaga can make a dress out of "God Hates Fags" signs from the Westboro Baptist Church.
"I love the part where she proclaims herself 'The most judgment-free person on the face of the earth.' Ha. When did 'judgment' acquire a 100% negative meaning.'
When we entered the NewAge, silly. Passing judgment is "negative" - unless it's about Bush. Did I mention there's no such thing as hypocrisy in the NewAge? That and judgments. And Jesus is just some other guy - a simple community organizer or something. Practiced Rieki in his spare time. Now anybody can do it.
Shoot me now.
Given that PETA opposes pet ownership entirely, the cat line is a doubly cheap shot.
And their full statement is revelatory about how much of an echo chamber they live in.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone is followed by "now go and sin no more".
The meat dress was created (invented?) by Montreal artist Jana Sterbak in 1987.
"It ain't refrigerated. It's probably stinking bad. She's in the lights: It's cooking," said Peter Cacioppo.
I think that says it all.
I saw one again the other day, and always chuckle when I see bumper stickers that say PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals.
I can sometimes see the type of critters sacrificed for the lesser cuts that made up her dress outside my back windows at my house, and hear them at night when walking home from work. I think that I am less enthused about protecting such animals than those who don't ever see the real source of this high grade protein, but more so probably than those who actually have raised them.
Actually, though, if someone wants to kick it up a notch, try a Bambi dress. Or, at least one made from one of Bambi's parents, since Bambi himself probably doesn't have enough meat on him for decent coverage. Pure pests of the worst sort.
From Gaga to just plain Gag.
hypocrisy in the NewAge
It's not hypocrisy if you have no standards to violate. As in, if you never say you think adultery is bad, then it's not hypocritical to sleep around on your wife. So don't dare make a public statement that something is actually wrong because if you don't live up to your own standards, you are the worst thing of all to a leftist - a hypocrite!
