"Ann Althouse for president?"

What is Language Log talking about now?

You know, I just got done telling you (close) readers that I've never been interested in any sort of leadership position. I'm the independent individualist type. I'm all about autonomy, not making everybody else's problems my problems.

And I don't do elaborate charts with numbers, so I don't know what Language Log is talking about. I'm into language.... log.

Me too. I'm just trying to find the common sense beneath all the stupidity.

Six degrees of Ann Althouse! Only, it's not as much fun as Kevin Bacon.

Is this a sign from The Language God...I mean Log? This could be interesting. At Press Conferences President Althouse would be the first President to routinely interrogate the press rather than answer their questions.

Tell them you don't have time. Explain how much work it has been to provide us hillbillies, red meat on a daily basis.

Santorum's troubles please me. Couldn't have happened to a nicer politician.

(the other kev)

I'm down with it, but only because I want Meade for First Dude.

But if you did become president, what would you do? Kindly post a list of priorities.

I'm a fan of Ann?

or

Vote for Ann, she ain't no man?

Another milestone of success - being talked about for President :-)

Meade म्हणाले...

Okay. I thought of a slogan, in the classic "I like Ike" style: I'm aroused for Ann Althouse

This is how it begins. With just a soft whisper, or a murmur in the trees. And slowly it gathers strength ....

Think about it. You could solve all global problems, by just posting a picture with "At The Oval Cafe", and letting people rant on about things until their fury is spent.

I'm aroused for Ann Althouse

That's a very appropriate slogan for the spouse of Ann Althouse.

Judging by her color preferences it will be Althouse in the Puce House!

rcocean म्हणाले...

No,no. Ann Coulter for President -Ann Althouse for best friend.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi म्हणाले...

C'mon. Obama has proved that anyone can be president. That's why I'm:

Pushin' for Bushman in 2012!

My thoughts exactly: my black friends are always on my nuts to run for something - anything - but I ain't interested. I'm an artist - the best calling in the world.

The last comment I left on LanguageLog - after following an Althouse link about BHO's "dog" quote - was this:

While all of you were trying to figure this out, the Obama admin let 100 gang members, 4 terrorism sympathizers, and 400 who'll take jobs from Americans cross the border illegally.

Mark Liberman either deleted that comment or didn't approve it; I might add him to my list of those who delete comments depending on whether he responds to my email.

I understand and sympathize with the sentiment. On the other hand, if one refuses to take part in administration, one is probably doomed to be ruled by inferior people. At the least, it's worth asking whether someone who refuses to be in government has the same right to criticize those who have the responsibility as does someone who is willing to participate.
