None of Feingold’s victories was a landslide; he got 53 percent of the vote in 1992, 51 percent in 1998, and 55 percent in 2004. Facing a strongly anti-Democratic year for the first time, Feingold appears to believe his best hope is to paint Johnson as an extremist. “It’s becoming clear that [Johnson is] the third part of that Rand Paul, Sharron Angle tripartition,” Feingold told Politico in June. “He’s refused to say whether he favors the continuation of Social Security and Medicare. He hasn’t even said he supports the Civil Right Act.”What's your biggest liability? I'm just so darned honest.
But unlike the Kentucky and Nevada GOP candidates, Johnson hasn’t committed any big gaffes....
Johnson’s biggest liability may be a tendency to speak honestly....

It is a liablity, especially for a politician. We are so used to politicans lying that when we hear the truth people can't take it. The lies are prettier than the truth.
Plus the truth is used as a weapon against the truth teller by the media. Just ask Palin.
Famous quote from a local politician. " Half of my friends support doing A, and the other half of my friends support doing B...I am in favor of my friends." Keep em guessing. But what to do about the Palin Factor? If she endorses Johnson, will Madison welcome or refudiate her endorsement? She is a Hockey Mom and Todd is a snow machine afficiando.
“He’s refused to say whether he favors the continuation of Social Security and Medicare. He hasn’t even said he supports the Civil Right Act.”
Was there a presser or memo I missed where all political candidates had to give their pre-emptive official position on 60's era legislation?
Does Fiengold realize MC and SS are insolvent ahead of schedule?
Agree with DBQ. The Lefties have taken the twisting of words and ideas and turned them into an article of faith in politics.
If you tell people what you want to do and why, you can bet you will be demagogued, distorted, and, if possible, destroyed.
When Davy Crocket was running for congress, and he was accused of being a liar, he responded that not only was he a liar, he was a better liar than his opponent. He also said that he could jump higher, run faster, walk longer, and tell better lies than anyone in the district.
BTW, Crocket was elected at least one term--maybe two--I don't remember for sure.
Never confuse liability with ability to lie.
I think it is a liability that there is nothing about agriculture on Johnson's Website. That seems like a significant oversight if you want to represent America's Dairyland.
Maybe some words have been thrown up there now. They weren't there a week or so ago.
My biggest liability is that I care too much.
...
No, wait, that's not correct. No my biggest liability is that I don't care at all. Fuck it.
You Wisconsinites gave us 18 years of Russ Feingold.
YOU OWE US BIG TIME!!!
The dueling ads between Feingold and Johnson are amusing. Feingold accuses Johnson of being in favor of driiling for oil in Lake Michigan. Johnson immediately respond pointing out that drilling is already banned in all the Great Lakes. Now Feingold is trying to stir up controversy over Johnson's ownership of BP stock.
I will be extremely happy of Feingold goes down to an overwhelming defeat. I attended two of his listening sessions last winter and I can't recall ever meeting someone as smug and condescending as he was. His attitude about the health care bill was that we should just shut up and accept what they were cooking up in D.C.
No more Democrats for any office, ever.
