"Check out the Drudge photo that makes it look like Obama has wings over the story: 'White House: Obama is obviously Christian.'"

Today's Drudge comedy — Drudgedy — was found by commenter t-man/wurly/henry buck. Screen capture:

The Drudge links go to:

1. That poll we talked about yesterday.

2. "White House says Obama is Christian, prays daily."

3. "President Apostate?"

4.  "Obama a Muslim? Rumors gain steam, defying facts."

ADDED: Rush Limbaugh begins his show today (Friday) talking about the Drudge angel wings. He should at least say "hi" to me.

At least once a week I'm reminded that the NYT doesn't fact-check their op-ed contributors -- or if they do, they're doing a piss-poor job.

Edward N. Luttwak -- a man who from his bio has never studied Islam --wrote the scariest story he could devise about Islam's death grip on Obama's soul.

As far as I can tell, Luttwak is little more than the instant Google expert, the bane of internet discussion groups.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Does Obama "pray daily" or does the White House?

(PS On NPR this am in discussing the unemployment numbers, a reporter noted that White House staff check economic and employment measures daily. I therefore assume they are praying daily.)

AllenS म्हणाले...

Try flapping those wings, Obama. They'll fly about as well as your economic nonsense.

Think you're reaching on the wings (ask, don't reach).

What is interesting is the Luttwak piece (he was a poli sci legend when I was an undergrad, glad to see he's still thinking and writing) about The Zero being an apostate Moslem. Contrary to fls, apostasy is an instant dirt nap in Islam.

Hope the Secret Service has TOW missles in the back seat.

Of course Obama's a christian. He prays all the time. I mean its like 5 times a day.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

I wonder if Obama's plummeting poll numbers are just a reflection of overexposure. You know, when that one big hit song makes the airwaves and its played over and over and over and over and..well you get my point.

Maybe I never noticed it before but I don't ever remember a President whose mug was splashed on tv every.single.day.

But I am glad to see he's taking some (more) time for himself and the family.

How does praying daily make you a Christian?

Does Obama "pray daily"?

No.

"Black Liberation Theology will only accept the love a God that participates in the destruction of the White Enemy" - Dr Cone, Obama supporter and champion of Trinity church.

He's too much of a narcissist anyway. Imagiine another 9-11. Do you think Obama's first impulse would be to drop to his knees and pray for guidance and wisdom, or look around for a scapegoat to ride?

Chennaul म्हणाले...

The best line was in a thread yesterday-something like-

Obama can't be Muslim-he's too busy worshipping himself.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

I have my doubts he's a practicing 'anything'. His attendance in Wright's 'church' was nothing more than a political stunt to get some cred with his constituency. He may be a Christian in the sense that's the faith he identifies with but doesn't really practice it.

His affection for Islam is the same that I think drives most leftists to rush to its defense is that it clashes with Western values, which for most leftists is the default position to take.

garage mahal म्हणाले...

Just where in the heck is all this Obama is a Muslim thing coming from anyway!

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

The first test of whether one is a Christian is the honor one gives to or refuses to give to God's word. If a person turns away from a scripture teaching and goes on as if there is nothing of interest there, then that person has shut off a connection through faith in the Word. He can still be a moral and good person, but he is likely not a Christian. The amazing Mr Obama seems to constantly repress faith in order to keep from being under its influence.

I think it was started by the NY Times. Then Obama didn't help himself when he referred to his 'Muslim faith' only to be corrected by little Georgie Stephenopolous.

Obama took an oath to uphold the constitution. First time on a bible. Second time sans bible. So he told both a religious lie and a secular lie. Whatever his religion or lack thereof that makes him a confirmed liar. Twice. To which progressives everwhere give a big ho-hum, the constitution meaning diddly squat to them.

AllenS म्हणाले...

One example, garage

September 8, 2008

While talking to George Stephanopoulos, Obama said this: "You're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith"

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

My guess the concern over whether he's a Muslim has something to do with the Muslim terrorists who on a daily basis continue to threaten to attack the US.

A similar sentiment permeated the country when many thought the Pope was going to rule the country with JFK as his Cardinal Richelieu.

Had the 19 hijackers been devout Roman Catholics from Ireland, leftists would have demanded the Green Isle turned to glass and the Vatican bombed to rubble.

aronamos म्हणाले...

The Constitution doesn't require a Bible to have a presidential oath be binding.

Chennaul म्हणाले...

Here's the NYT's public editor, regretting they let Luttwak fearmonger unopposed:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/01/opinion/01pubed.html

Here's Obama on his T.U.C.C attendance:

In a July 21, 2008 Newsweek article, Obama explained that he stopped going to church as often after he and wife Michelle had children.

“As young marrieds, Barack and Michelle (who also didn't go to church regularly as a child) went to church fairly often—two or three times a month. But after their first child, Malia, was born, they found making the effort more difficult. ‘I don't know if you've had the experience of taking young, squirming children to church, but it's not easy,’ he says.

“‘Trinity was always packed, and so you had to get there early. And if you went to the morning service, you were looking at—it just was difficult. So that would cut back on our involvement.’

“After he began his run for the U.S. Senate, he says, the family sometimes didn't go to Trinity for months at a time. The girls have not attended Sunday school.”

Trooper York म्हणाले...

The problem with squirming children at church are familar to every church going person regardless of their faith. Who has not had the experiance of hearing babies wail during a service. But that is a natural part of faith. It's not like the old days when imperious priests demanded you take the babies out of church.

My pastor Father Cashman told the congregation "Bring your children and let them be part of the Mass. Don't be afraid and don't make them afraid or punish them. They are just kids. So if they escape and want to run up to the altar, that's ok. Jesus will be happy to see them. Then you can corral them and take them back to your seat."

As a result our parish has four times as many families with small children than anyone else in the vicinity.

Trooper York म्हणाले...

Obama's decision to take the easy way out and not bring his children to church, any church (or mosque) really shows what kind of person he is. He cut off his religious life because it was a bother.

Quote of Franklin Graham re: President's faith (via Politico)

“The seed is passed through the father,” Graham said. “He was born a Muslim. His father was a Muslim; the seed of Muslim is passed through the father like the seed of Judaism is passed through the mother. He was born a Muslim; his father gave him an Islamic name.”

Graham's attempting to make a religious/theological point but it will come off poorly. I don't think his father would have made such a comment.

From the Islamic perspective, we are all born Muslim -- how could God have planned otherwise -- so we Christians, Jews, et al. are all equally apostate:

Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 33:
The Book of Destiny (Kitab-ul-Qadr)

Chapter 6: EVERYONE IS BORN ACCORDING TO HIS TRUE NATURE AND THE COMMAND PERTAINING TO THE DEMISE OF THE CHILDREN OF THE INFIDELS AND OF THE CHILDREN OF THE MUSLIMS

Book 033, Number 6423:

There is none born but is created to his true nature (Islam). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian quite as beasts produce their young with their limbs perfect. Do you see anything deficient in them? Then he quoted the Qur'an., The nature made by Allah in which He has created men there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion" (xxx. 33)

Methadras म्हणाले...

President Kick-Ass had every opportunity to dispel the claims that birthers made against him. He only stoked the fire and shrouded his origins in a veil of mystery. Now they release his passport with what is considered vital information blurred out and not making a distinction between whether or not it is a common or diplomatic passport either. Now this question of him being a stealth Muslim has crept back into the news cycle? Why? I could care less about whether he is a Muslim or not, he is just shitty Marxist and a shitty president. That's what is important here.

In either case, he has allowed these rumors to swirl around him in the hopes to marginalize those he sees as being fringy and now he's fed them the meat they so craved and it's gotten out of the box. This guy is a moron.

Scott म्हणाले...

Honest to goodness, I don't care what Obama's faith is.

As long as he believes in the United States and has faith in the wisdom of her citizens, his expressions of deity fealty are at best anecdotal.

Ten Questions Nobody Ever Asked About George W. Bush

1.) Where is George W. Bush’s real birth certificate?

2.) Was George W. Bush’s birth announcement planted in the paper to divert attention from his actual birth?

3.) What is George W. Bush’s Social Security Number?

4.) Does George W. Bush’s Social Security Number match the assignment pattern traditionally followed by Social Security Numbers?

5.) How did George W. Bush apply for financial aid in college?

6.) Where are George W. Bush’s MBA projects and papers?

7.) Is George W. Bush’s wife faithful to America?

8.) How did George W. Bush pay for any or all of his homes?
