Did you ever get the feeling that Obama is annoyed that he has to deal with problems?

That was never in his job description.

He was supposed to completely transform the world, without these petty annoyances like oil spills and unemployment.

Those kinds of problems are just small potatoes for a guy who was sent to us to stop the rising of the oceans.

I think "elect new leadership this November" is a sensible message. It gets beyond the old partisanship and doesn't even mention the big elephant of past incompetence in the room (the R- word). And it's honest and straight to the point.

BTW, when this is all said and done, it's going to be Barry's moratorium on drilling that does the most damage to the Gulf. Jobs lost and damage to the economy will be far worse than any lasting environmental damage.

A lot like bailing out GM and closing all those Chrysler dealers . . .

TRO....those jobs are in red states so its not big deal to Jimmy Blago

Not an elephant, a RINO; and, if they start getting hunted to extinction in this election, so much the better.

PS The Rs didn't put us where we are today. The Zero has done that all by himself.

I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on, the Talking Heads rule (ruled?). David Byrne hasn't lost a damned thing since those days and is still putting out incredible work.

It was even a decent parody, production-wise.

Sharron Angle would be a pretty tough foe to hunt. You'd think she be more than willing to talk about Harry Reid and Zero, and all their dreadful policies, instead, she only gives a 3 minute speech refusing to answer any questions from reporters and runs out the back door. Strange.

Heh. The Journolista sock-puppets are still posting on the Sherrod threads waaay down the page.

I wonder how many more days they'll spend trying to change the narrative.

Not Funny...Margaret Cho, Wanda Sykes, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Sandra Bernhard are funny. Where's the "F-Bomb" and wishing for rape, or kidney failure, or looking for a whole can of whoo-@ss to open, or distinctions between rape and rape-rape, that's teh funny...

I would say more evidence that the Left is losing, they USED to be funny, now they're humourless drones.

Example, George Carlin, WAS funny, in the end, just a bitter old hippie.

This calls for a song czar.

The songwriting system is obviously broken. 23.842% of the population is left out of the songwriting system altogether. Songwriters must be regulated so things like this can never happen again. .

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I realize that Golf and Gulf rhyme very nicely, but I thought that part detracts from the song.

Very clever however. My complaint is but a quibble.

I have a confession to make. I am hoping that the GOP is trounced in November. I mean laid out like Fraizer in 1973. Why do you ask? Well pull up a chair and let me esplain.

See in order for there to be real Change, things need to get a lot worse than they are and if the Democrats just get massive majorities in Congress I can assure you they will. Contemporary liberalism is a failed ideology. It sucks the life and ambition out of people; it’s the black hole in the galaxy of political thought if you will. For the last half century or so we’ve been getting this bankrupt mindset doled out piecemeal so we’re getting slowly killed by a thousand cuts. Well I want to just cut to the chase, jump ahead of the line so to speak. Let them have the whole enchilada and then watch the whole rotten edifice come crashing down once they’re able to get everything they want.

Ok so a whole lot of people will suffer. Tough. Eggs meet omelet.

Now once all those liberal policies get enacted everyone will see firsthand what a monumental failure it is. I mean we conservatives keep telling them but hey, how many times did you tell your kids the stove was hot but they had to stick their hands on it to find out? Well all I’m advocating is the same on a national level. My fellow Americans, I know I am asking much of you but it simply has to be done. Liberals are Americans too and we can no longer allow them to live in a world where reality is a tv show.

The pain we must endure in the short term will be soothed by the mass redemption of millions of Americans like garage mahal who will sink to his knees in joy that he was once blind but now can see.

On the other hand tovarisch hdhouse of course won’t repent because it will remind him of the old USSR and we know how nostalgic he gets for the good old days.

Courage. Courage.

That, of course, is the point. Substituting an Assistant Democrat for Dingy Harry solves nothing. The National Socialists here will insist all Conservatives are foursquare behind Republicans, any Republican, but that's the point of the Tea Partiers. Get somebody in who believes in and will fight for the traditional values of the Republican Party.

(At the mention of Tea, Wack in 5, 4, 3, ...)

Not even Angle or her handlers believe that, they know her nonsense won't sell to the masses. That's why they scrubbed her website and have her literally running from 6 month pregnant reporters. In the real world we have been living in Reagan's Utopia - the rich have never been richer, the income gap chasm never wider, and virtually no middle class left in this country to speak of. Jesus, dream on.

Do you believe the stuff you post? No Middle Class left to speak of???

What happened to them? They get eaten by the rich? Driven into the lumpenproleteriate?

Oh oh that's right thye became UPPER Middle Class....

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I agree that Mitch would be not much of an improvement over Harry.

There was a piece on NPR this morning (I know, I know) about a House race in NM, wherein the Democratic incumbent is in a close race against the former Republican incumbent. I can understand why the Democrats nominated the sitting incumbent. I'm not sure why the Republicans nominated someone with such baggage as a former incumbent. How can you run for change in DC that way?

I don't think the Republican Party wants change at all. They just want power back.

Revenant म्हणाले...

Reagan's Utopia - the rich have never been richer, the income gap chasm never wider, and virtually no middle class left in this country to speak of.

The wealth of "the rich" and the width of the "income gap" are, of course, unimportant. They matter only to people driven by envy of those who have more than them. My life is exactly the same whether the gap between me and Bill Gates is $1 or $1 trillion.

As for there being "no middle class left to speak of" -- quite the opposite. It is the poor who have vanished. The average family below the government's official "poverty line" has cars, televisions, refrigerators, dishwashers, telephones, adequate food and water, housing, and medical coverage. I.e., they are what was considered "middle class" a generation ago.

So, yes. We are living in "Reagan's utopia": we are vastly better off than we used to be. :)

अनामित म्हणाले...

That's why half the people in this country pay no federal income tax? How do you explain that? Clearly half the people in this country simply aren't working.

Again do believe this stuff, do you even bother to think about it or do you just lift Soro’s talking points? The reason half don’t pay income tax is that CONGRESS and the POTUS have written the Law, that way!!!!!! This is not Rocket Science…..

The stupid masses going back to early civilizations believed their Pharoh, King, or at least their high priests - had control over all events.
Thus, the stupid fools 10 generations out of furry loinclothes thought a Drought or locust infestation happening on their "Main Guy's Watch" was all on him.

Nothing's really changed, except that Kings and Pharohs and their priests could at least get the satisfaction of boiling alive a few loudmouths saying "the Locusts happened on Your Watch!!" - which tended to shut the rest up.

IN more modern times, the mass delusions of crowds business still provides a wonderful source of money and power to the cunning and manipulative.

Even as in America, many of us understand that "It Happened on Your Watch" is military shorthand for "We know you had nothing to do with it, but examples must be set by making the blameless guilty as a lesson to others...and you are the one we are gonna fuck over.".

America has two power and money intoxicated Ruling Elites that agree on Open Borders, on selling out the American worker to gain short-term China bucks....but who honestly don't like one another...and take turns manipulating the ignorant lumpenproletariat.

about?

"Katrina happened on Bush's Watch. He should have delected the hurricane with a wave of his hand after offering up to the priests, or at least pesonally inspected all the Levees built under LBJ.."

"Oh yeah, well, 9/11 is because Bill Clinton didn't personally hunt down the Arch-Mastermind of all Global Terror...which of course would have deterred the Islamoids that thought it up and had it underway a year before Binnie knew anything about it."

"Well, Bush didn't do to each Fallen Hero's funeral, and he has not done enough to worship the Sacred Soil, the Holy Ground of the 9/11 Heroes. Something that Happened on His Watch."

"Now that Obama has replaced Bush, the masses want to know why Obama was unaware of double case drilling and hydrologic cementing procedures and acoustic-operated BOPS. And hadn't personally inspected each rig to avert what Happened on His Watch."

Meanwhile, like when the Ruling Elites of Rome and other civilizations had similar tactics of diverting the masses by concocted conflict and threw in bread and circuses for good measure - robust economies were destroyed by trade and plague brought in, foreigners invading, and Barbarians ever-gathering at the Gates until the time was auspicious.

In our decline, of course we readily manipulated masses do deserve a break from the bad path and nasty fate awaiting us and deserve to laugh at Obama or Bush spoofs or the Boxer, Pelosi, and Palin bimbos.
Bead and circuses time for America.

Scott M म्हणाले...

Nice moving of the goal posts there, GM. Change the definition of middle-class once it's revealed how wrong you are.

Please enlighten us with your definition, say an income range, of middle-class, and then give us your empirical proof that the number of people in that bracket has "nearly vanished" as I think you put it.

Madison Man, I live in that NM district. From a distance (and via NPR) your observation is correct but the Republican was not defeated for that seat in 2008, he lost the senate race and probably would have been re-elected.

Instead we voted in a good old boy oilman who votes like Nancy Pelosi. Sure we'll get that part of the power back because the district doeasn't like what they got instead.

A certain segment of the population seems captivated by the idea of turning the US into Rwanda, complete with its universal (19th century) health care, equality of (nonexistent) income, and tribal warfare.

The wealth of "the rich" and the width of the "income gap" are, of course, unimportant.

It is if you wish to talk about "people in the middle". The middle class.

Feel free to justify that claim. How does the income gap tell you anything about the middle class? How does the wealth of "the rich" tell you anything about the middle class?

That's why half the people in this country pay no federal income tax? How do you explain that?

The majority of voters support making somebody else pay for their government benefits. Since we live in a democracy, they get what they want.

Joe म्हणाले...

So the "answer" to saving the Middle Class is to re-write the Tax Laws, so that the Upper Quintile pays less in taxes, i.e., we make the Tax Code LESS Progressive? Wow that should fly well in Haight-Ashbury...

Becausr then the Middle Class will be paying some of the taxes...

Man, Garage who knew the solution to this rather complex socio-political-economic question was so simple?

Anyhoo, last weekend I was at the neighborhood pool and this lady came up to me and said she was offended by my two tattoos, One is the logo of the Roman Republic and the other is the Polish eagle which shows off my ethnic pride.

See she was Jewish and said those Romans and Polacks were bad to her people. I expressed my sorrow but told her I really hated Pat Buchanan and support Palin who is a friend of Israel and next thing you know she bought me a diet Coke a popsicle and we had wild sex.

How is your day going?
