Saw one the other day that said "Darcy/Bingley '08." Loved it, even thought it was out of date, by either 2 years or 2 centuries.

On a Toyota.

Just the sticker alone would be pretty amusing. But combined with the license plate, it is very creepy.

David म्हणाले...

Hey, we all have our high points in life.

I met Ike.

And George C. Marshall.

Never thought of putting those facts on my car.

Meade म्हणाले...

I ever get to meet Lem, I might announce it on my license plate.

Meade म्हणाले...

If...

And I met the Brooklyn Dodgers the year before they moved to LA.

I'll take mine over his.

No fan of Ike, but a great admirer of Marshall. You must have been a widdle kid.

I remember the announcement of his death on the radio as my dad and I were driving up to see my Aunt Claribel. We were at a toll booth on the Jersey turnpike. I had no idea who he was, but I remember it took a minute for my dad to take it in.

"I shook hands with Pres Ford, as he walked off Air Force 1, (and did not fall down)"

but, it will not fit on my licence plate.

I met Dubya when he was the Texas Rangers' owner and I was a college radio reporter. (That won't fit on a license plate either--even the new Texas ones with a seventh digit.)

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

I met Hubert Humphrey. Try putting that on a license plate.

IMET HH Nope. The dang relatives would think I met Howard Hughes.

Its not like you guys haven't been to NYC... (I understand the weather was bad and such) but.. if I show up over there in Madison it would be kind of creepy.. although I could.. if invited.. if

So.. next time you guys are in NYC make time for us.. at least try.

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

I never met and talked to anyone famous, although last night I literally bumped into Eddie Griffin and his baby in the supermarket. Eddie if you read this, sorry dude. I was thinking about Althouse and double vanilla ice cream and not watching where I was going. BTW, no using n-word here, even if you're famous.

I spray-painted graffiti on the Berlin Wall and pissed on it as a poltical statement, back in early 1989. Ten months later, the Wall came down. I like to think that I helped in my small way.

But I don't have a license plate that says P ON WALL.

Value Added म्हणाले...

I agree with Seven Machos. It's creepy. And sad.

The most recent famous person I saw was Ben Stein at a little mall in Palm Desert a couple of years ago.

He really does dress like that.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Louisiana to Madison, quite a long haul.

In today's world, JFK would be a right wing crazy. "Ask not what your country can do for you . . .?" Come on.

Freedom? Allies? The moon?

Obama would denounce him as a hater.

I can recall many years ago (?25) my mother had taken one of her rare plane trips and happened to meet Bary Goldwater. She was giddy like a school girl (according to my brother who was with her).

I was still in my teens but that was my first inkling that there was something to Barry Goldwater besides being a crazy rightwing Senator from far away Arizona who was appropriately humiliated in a past presidential election. My understanding of Republicans came from my long time governor, Nelson Rockfellar.

It wasn't till many years later and after moving to AZ that I got a fuller picture of who Goldwater was. It was also when I fully realized how "East" and "West" have VERY different outlooks.

(And now connecting the dots) From what I now know of JFK, he was the last member of that family to have some political common ground with the likes of Goldwater.

It's amazing how far the Democrats have fallen. From calling on people to excel to telling them to settle for a teat of those who do.
