He's actually quite correct. American schools do a terrible job of teaching very basic aspects of law. In Free Enterprise and Civics, students get some big-picture, theoretical type of education, but not what they really need.
All high schools should teach a year-long course in basic law... contracts, property, and family law. How is a contract formed? What do you need to look out for to avoid making a contract until you actually want to? What are your legal rights regarding contracts with businesses? What rights do the businesses have against you? If you get married, will half your stuff automatically belong to your spouse? What can you do to property that you own that you can't do to property that you rent? What rights do landlords have? What rights do tenants have?
All of these questions have significant practical impact on the daily lives of every one of us, but very few are ever taught any of it. Sure, one year of high school isn't enough to make somebody a lawyer, but it's ample time to teach the very basic principles.
How many other people have let themselves be screwed over like Iggy, simply because they were never taught some really, really basic points of law?
Ah yes, on sight one immediately knows that the other person is everything good and noble or everything evil and base based on his slimness/corpulence and hirsuteness/lack thereof.
Is it a nice neighbourhood? “Damn right! Upper income. Saw a lot of John McCain signs there during the election, lotta Christian Republicans.” How do they respond to you? “Great! One of my neighbours is a contractor, another guy is a pilot. We’ve been to dinner there a coupla times, super-cool people.”

Who in the hell is Iggy Pop?
Why should I care?
Great, then. I'll just start selling the use of Search and Destroy to shoe companies and Lust for Life to cruise ship conglomerates.
Iggy won't mind.
Such insight being a druggie induces!
He needs to shack up with what's her skinny assed bitch and they can keep emitting noxious gasses...
If he doesn't care about intellectual property, may I sell his stuff?
Funny. The older I get, the more these below Tier One celebs seem like they are made up characters.

Somebody needs to read more carefully.
Yes. Somebody does. Always. Read. Source. Material. Before. Spouting. Off.

Wow. Iggy Pop hates lawyers.
That the second thing we have in common.
(We also both hang out with a bunch of stooges)
He sounds like he hates being a grown up.
Kell Sir Prize.
PS "learnt"? In America, we say, "learned". I think he learnt less than he thinks he does.
Funny an Iggy Pop post by Althouse...
When It Is Bob Dylan's Birthday Today!
Best concert I've ever attended.
Worst: Warren Zevon. Poor guy was so lit he couldn't stand. Miss him, though, and don't begrudge him that ticket.

Except the students won't pay attention because they think this stuff is for hideous bald fat dead people.
These days it's a victory if they can identify the three branches of government and write a sentence with the word "you" spelled correctly.
Kind of shocked Ann didn't go here:
