"If Google told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?"

For some the answer is: Yes, I would and then I'd sue.

***

Bonus lawsuit story that I wouldn't have blogged if I hadn't run across that other one:
Upper West Side couples counselor Jeffrey Mechanic is being sued [for $4 million] by two of his former clients who say he nearly destroyed their marriage in his wacky attempts to save it....

"He would tell me constantly that my wife was not capable of satisfying me... For 10 years, I was faithful. Then I just caved in and had an affair, and [Mechanic] said there was nothing wrong with that"....
Aren't marriage counselors always dealing death blows to marriages? That's my observation. But this couple actually stayed together, so... seems the husband got good mileage out of Mechanic when he used him as an excuse for cheating.

Lawsuit? More like a LOLsuit.

I don't think that Rosenberg will win, and her name will become synonymous with "fucktard" in pretty short order.

When that happens, will she sue herself?

The google map story is bizzare. Lawsuit? Really? That sounds like it should be dismissed.

The marriage counselor is (I guess) a malpractice claim. So I would presume she has another marriage counselor to say what the first one did was wrong? Seems like a rather uphill battle.

Youngblood. Thanks. You summed it up perfectly.

The Counselor surprisingly found two imperfect people that he could send into a crisis instead of into a healing experience. Why do cults always send people into a crisis. Is it just the huge fees that generates for them ? Yes, it is. Ever since Freud discovered the power of transference during psycho-analysis, no troubled rich man or rich woman has been safe.

But Ann, he is an Upper West Side couples counselor and his name is Mechanic.

If it isn't negligence or alienation of affection, then it surely is fraud.

Unfortunately, I can't see my original comment! I hope everything was spelled right. But you're welcome, Fred!

I wonder if the attorneys filing suit in these claims got higher than a B- in torts?

Yes, and your "observation" of Bambi throughout the campaign convinced you to vote for him in 2008. Quite a gimlet eye you have.

On the first one, her big mistake was following Gargoyle blindly; after all, Mr. Gates and Mr. Ballmer keep telling us Bing is the decision engine.

As to the second, I get the distinct feeling the counselor got his certification at the Acme Products Company School of Psychology. Of course, hubbo was an actor, so what are we to expect?

PS All this talk of divorce. I trust there's no trouble in Paradise.

Would it be too snarky of me to suggest that she must be Democrat?

If I were a marriage counselor, I'd have the same advice for every couple: I'd look at the wife, and say "Let it grow back."

The problem is that most men don't know when to cut bait. Others try to do it for them, but in this case, Mechanic milked them for 10 years worth of agony. Some people are just supremely stupid and then they sue because of it. It's bizarro world.

Steve's Law Tips #29: Who Do I Sue?

http://www.gocomics.com/bloomcounty/1986/06/22/

For people who don't click links, Steve Dallas gets his back broken by Sean Penn. He doesn't sue Sean Penn, because juries love celebrities. He doesn't sue Madonna, because it would hard to prove liability. He doesn't sue Opus because Opus is poor. He sues the camera manufacturer for not putting a warning label about photographing psychopathic celebrities.

Is Lauren Rosenberg, the plaintiff, of child-bearing age? If so, it would be best if she were sterilized. We're in enough trouble already.

Joe म्हणाले...

He "just caved in and had an affair".

Yeah. All these women were constantly attempting to sleep with him. He was beating them off with a baseball bat and then, one day, he just caved.

That aside, didn't the idea work?
