Do you have any of the chili left?

Don't you ever watch Dancing with the Stars?

Nobody's up in the Eastern Time Zone, apparently. It's 1AM here. Too late to start something. Someone else must take the reins...zzzz

I am up late and excited that the family has come back home from Cincinnati, and all is good news from Dr Franz. There was a big convention in town, so they ended up having to stay a night in a suite at the Cincinnatian Hotel, and were very pleased. My son also went over with me the only defense to a choke hold, which is a sudden dip forward followed by a viscious head butt backwards to smash the holder's nose a moment before you pass out and die. So I feel a little more confident now about shopping at the local Hang em High CVS Drugstore. Good night.

There's chili left. Meade made 2 gallons of it! Ate chili for lunch and the cheeseburgers and fries for dinner.

And no, I don't watch dancing with the stars. I'm terribly bored watching people dance. It takes way too long. What difference does it make if people can dance or not?

Watched Wisconsin Death Trip (2001).

Its available for streaming via Netflix.

What difference, indeed? Also, what difference does it make if people can sing or not--or do any number of other things or not? What difference does it make, at all, at all, to do anything at difference? Or not to?

Sheesh.

I'll wake up long enough to answer that. I'm not a dancer, but I love to watch all kinds of dance. Dancing and other movement exercises, such as tai chi, reduce the risk of falls in older people. The brain gets more training in managing the body's location relative to the ground. It also is good exercise and a lot of fun (just look at all the babies who do little dances to music). I grew up in a denomination that looked down on dancing, although less so by the time I was young. In college, the Baptist Student Union would hold square dances, but the campus minister would list them in his report as "foot fellowships," or at least that is what he said.

I wish I could just learn to waltz, tango, and jitterbug. That's on my list. I might be too old for the jitterbug, though. I skip the first several weeks of DWTS, but the last 4 or so are usually a lot of fun. To each his/her own. I can't get into American Idol. Maybe because I sing, and know a lot of singers who are better than anyone on that show (although I'm not one of them).

Lem: I was going to respond to your comment (which I still have, of course, in my email), but now I see you deleted it from the public comment section here at Athouse. NP. I'm a deleter, myself, when it suits. So I won't respond as I was going to, in whole, but still I will in smallest part:

Lem: ... Thanks for that and XXOO. ... Also, I owe you an apology so overdue that ...

*SO* irritated I still can't link to Ian Hunter's version of "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square," even though I know I shouldn't be and why it's not available.

They make me think of water lilies. Very Monet of you! :)

[Or: you leave a good impression -- hardy har!]

Very nice picture, Madame.

PS Are you going to get the full, pay-through-the nose version of Photoshop or the academic one - if the college bookstore still sells them? Nowadays, you have to have it in writing that you're taking a class if you want a C compiler or the latest .Net studio. Don't know if that's true for graphics stuff.

I know there are restrictions on the academic version, but, contrary to what some say, I don't believe you are made of money.

PPS 2 gallons? Who are you feeding, a Ranger battalion or the State of Chihuahua?

Tank म्हणाले...

Is Monet living at Mead-House?

@reader 1:55 -

I deleted that because I realise I might be giving away (spoiling) some of the story.

But thanks.

Considering Obama's stated preferences for desirable characteristics in a prospective SCOTUS nominee, shouldn't he have nominated Sarah Palin?

When my guy makes chili, he makes large batches, as well. He'll keep enough out for a second meal, but then freezes the rest. It's a nice treat, later.

"Why can't people like that... just stay home?"

I don't like to link posts already on Drudge, but I found this story such a ridiculous example of perceived victimhood run amuck.

Watch the video.

Judge Accuses Wheelchair Bound Lawyer Of Sex Crime

A man bound to a wheelchair, who can't even feed himself, is charged with sexual harassment against a judge.

Cheecho Mertsaris is accused of sexual abuse, although he can't control his arms, his legs, or his hands. He has cerebral palsy because his brain was damaged during his delivery at birth...

Last October, a TLC judge accused Mertaris of grabbing her upper thigh and buttocks while they were in the office alone. His aide had gone to file papers.

His arms and hands tend to flail around and that's where the trouble started. When people get too close to him, Mertsaris tends to get nervous and he has more trouble controlling his arms.

He says his arm moved and hit her. He says he did not intend to touch her.

The judge filed a police report and Mertsaris was charged with sexual abuse. He was brought in and fingerprinted.

The Queens District Attorney has moved forward to prosecute.

After two years of hemming and hawing, I just bought a Nikon D90 and a few lenses (no fisheye, yet). I've been itching for a new hobby. It may be too much camera for me, but one of my existing hobbies is wasting money, so it's all good.

"Shall we Dance?"--the original Japanese movie, is one of my favorites. The American version was almost word for word, but they left some things out that increased the poignancy of the original.

EDH-- It's hard to imagine how the prosecution could expect to get to a point "beyond reasonable doubt" with that case.

In the Washington DC area, a restaurant called Open City (in Woodley Park) has the best vegetarian chili.

Remember the Times Square Almost Bombing? Well, the Feds have: “A number of individuals encountered during the searches were taken into federal custody for alleged immigration violations.“

What? This isn't AZ, but the North Eastern part of America. Immigrants? Illegals?
