Old images.

I have so much more time and subject matter for artistic projects in the summer, and with classes ending on Wednesday, I was looking for inspiration in the earliest examples of photography on this blog.

1. The blog post with the first digital photograph I ever took.

2. An early model of a post using photographs I happened to take that day and creating — concisely — a narrative arc.

3. Riffing on a movie with photographs taken — unabashedly — from the TV screen.

4. Photos of signs and displays accompanied by text that looks at them from a skewed perspective.

5. Attending and interpreting a genuinely interesting artistic event: Here and here.

6. I could use my drawings in a bloggy style. That reminds me: Palladian has done a magnificent job of presenting his drawings on line. Check it out. I used to travel with a pen and a sketchbook instead of a camera. I was highly influenced by this book. You have no idea how much time I spent, traipsing about, alone, looking and drawing. I don't know if I could go back to that, now that I've found digital photography. But I think there are alternative things that you can do, combining drawing and photography. I wonder if I'll ever get back to something like that....

7. Another idea is to get a new lens for the SLR camera and see what happens.

Anyway... just casting about....

I loved your Amsterdam notebooks. I don't know if you were solo at the time, or if it would be as fun to do with a companion. But they were great.

Just look to me Helen. I am all the art you really should be focusing on and I will be in Madison soon and you can explore me through video, painting, picture, audio and all kinds of other shit.

Just please respect the rare clumbers privacy. They don't deserve any attention and as far as I am concerned dogs should be off limits.

Throw the fish eye lens out, please.

I liked the picture of violets.

What do you think of the plant known as Creeping Charlie?

Titus म्हणाले...

There are some sluts outside my window right now screaming and being all loud and whorish. I need to find a neighborhood in Madison where I can hear that because I will miss it.

I still need a little action even though I am all about parks and nature. I want to be around it just not participate in it.

Do any of you really understand? Understand me?

Jen Bradford म्हणाले...

I don't think this is the answer, though.

Alright I have delayed too long.

I need to get my pussy in gear and get over to my husbands.

He is probably swearing at all the Buddah's in the house right now because I am late.

He loves me, he really loves me. Someone loves me and it is really a weird but comforting experience.

I read that Isthmus article and you make between 200-1900 a week for blog ads? Good for you Mary.

Ok I am off.

I love all of you and wish you a wonderful, nature filled weekend filled with love, friendship and excellent conversation, food, music and sex.

You seem to have a problem with the first link in No 5.

Google reveals that broken link should (probably) go here.

BTW, could that R.Regan/S.Temple movie have a more bizarre premise? He wants to marry her, as long as they can eliminate the possibility that he's her biological father.

Ann, I'm impressed you've gotten so tech-savvy in just the last few years. If you could only teach The Blonde how to do some of that... (I know Meade wouldn't let you out of his sight that long).

Every time I try, she always throws a fit. A gender thing, I suppose.

PS The first link in 5 doesn't work.

I'm here Penny.

I helped my sister move today.. so I'm tired.

Still, it is Friday - so I'm in NYC. Having some whine and trying not to be political.

titus never struck me as the settler kind.

The rule of Lemnity म्हणाले...

I thought the etiquette of moving was very well understood.

When you ask friends and family to help you move, the least you could do before hand is pack the small items..

This is the 'successful' sister too.

I avoid moving but whenever I have, I have paid the pros.

Penny म्हणाले...

Hi, Lem!

I would much rather go fishing, even in my bathtub, than help anyone move.

You are a good brother.

TMink म्हणाले...

Congrats on all the work! Keep going with it.

Something I've known [about] since I was a kid.

This one's for *you*, Titus.

reader_iam म्हणाले...

Also, I sort of relate to that one.

Nick म्हणाले...

Wow, Althouse. I love Strong Opinions. Nabokov really did write like a genius, though I can't attest to all the rest.

I've never met or even heard of anyone else who read or enjoyed that, though that might say more about my circle than anything else. Great stuff.

Nature is fine, but dandy it's not. No, people are dandy, like those riding in subway cars or nodding out in truck stops.

IMO, your (Ann) best creative work came from Brooklyn Heights, and the scenes of lower Manhattan.

Yes, nature is fine, but art is just beyond.

Bob म्हणाले...

Over at Crack Skull Bob's blog, he has discovered an online drawing app that you might experiment with.

vet66 म्हणाले...

Digital photography is enhanced by Photoshop. Use your drawing skills working at the pixel level. Also, the ubiquitous mouse is replaced by the Wacom tablet.

Study the light...

Ann you have simply GOT to check out a photo app for your iphone called "HIPSTAMATIC." It RULZ (in the current vernacular) It is an app which re-creates the quirks of shooting "old school" but gives you the ability to swap lenses, film type and flash settings all with the swipe of a finger. Characterized by blurring, over saturation and discolored images, hippstaprints have a casual and seemingly accidental feel like the old plastic Kodaks/Polaroids of days of yore.

Hey, Palladian, you're good! Do you do commissioned work?

virgil xenophon म्हणाले...

PS: "Hipstamatic" also means you don't have to futz around with Photoshop.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Love the drawings, Palladian.

If I could do that, I would be obsessed. Talent: unfortunately for me, there's no app for that.

Palladian म्हणाले...

Thanks. Mike, contact me about what you have in mind.
