"In some areas of north Tehran we can see many suntanned women and young girls who look like walking mannequins."

"We are not going to tolerate this situation and will first warn those found in this manner and then arrest and imprison them."

Nice regime you're engaged to, Obama.

Scantily-clad women cause earthquakes. Suntanned women cause global warming. It's all been peer reviewed, you know.

And they wonder why they're parodied.

Yes Imam, make sure those hot Iranian women are covered up, not because they cause earthquakes but because they evidently cause you discomfort which says quite a bit about yourself and your adherents I'd say.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

See, this is really why all cultures will be improved by our exporting the American way: Iran just needs to import our universally admired "Women of Walmart" look to marginalize all that family values-destroying style and elegance. Kills that "concupiscence of the eye" stone dead. Temptation vanquished, virtue restored. And we add another notch to our record of innovative solutions to mankind's perennial problems.

(I guess that link has tips for the men, too, who are scrupulous about not being an occasion of sin for the ladies.)

Iranian women can be quite attractive, but they also tend to have a significant amount of body hair, and ... hey wait, that sounds fine to me!

Without photographs this article and thread is pointless....

The Iranian economy must be tanking again. Time to find an enemy. It certainly can't be the Imams' fault that people can't get rich.

OK, this is where I don't get the "Most Muslims are Moderate" thing. I realize that Iran has a pretty extreme regime. BUT it gets a hell of a lot of support from its populace, notwithstanding those who do resist and/or protest its policies.

The treatment of Jews and hostile attitude toward Israel is the other thing that makes me have trouble with the "moderate" meme.

Those two prevailing attitudes are anathema to "moderate" are they not? Aren't they, in themselves, extreme? Or maybe most Muslims really do think women are equal and Jews are just fine, and I am just not getting it. If that's the case, they need better PR.

It used to be okay for Iranian women to have a suntan -- or it was up until they banned the see-thru burkha back in the ’80s.

Imprison beautiful Iranian women will they? The fiends! Thank heavens the bewitching, unpronounceable Shoreh Aghdashloo made it safely to our country.

Meanwhile, in related news, the line for applicants to interview for the job of "tan-line inspector" stretched around the block.

My first thought was that they are naturally tan and lucky them (well, except for the crazy men trying to throw them in jail for, um, being in the sun?)

Also, are these men attracted to mannequins?

A Trophy Wife Persian style is nothing to be sneezed at.This reveals that the religious guys are actually afraid that the 12th Imam will run off with her and keep the world procreating along. How will the World ever be ended then?

I hereby invite all suntanned Iranian women to come to the US.

Is Iran one of those countries where a guy can have four wives? If I were running a country where the rich and powerful can have multiple wives, I wouldn't want anything around to remind all those poor sex-starved young guys what they're missing. They might start to wonder about the basic fairness of the social order.
