At The Kitchen...

DSC08635

... if you show up for dinner, lunch, and then dinner — all within a 24-hour period — maybe they'll treat you to glasses of Prosecco.

Talk about whatever you want here, and, when you're in Boulder, Colorado, eat at The Kitchen — over and over again.

Planning on making lamb stew with guinness a la Glenn Reynolds this weekend.

mmmm. Thanks for the good word.
The menu looks great.

Here are a few unique-to-Boulder places to enjoy.

-Frasca
-The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse
-The Flagstaff House

Frasca and Flagstaff are pricey but worth it.

Recently we had to replace one of our old pepper grinders. My wife looked around at a cooking store where they had a really nice imported grinder that cost FIFTY DOLLARS and a not quite so nice but serviceable model for $5. She bought the latter.

But one night we went out to eat at The Kitchen, and she noticed that they had the same fancy imported ones on the tables there.

Just thought you should know.

I keep thinking today is Friday.

It feels like Friday.. the weather outside is just beautiful here in NJ.. for the first time in a long time.

I lost my census form. I suppose I did it accidentally on purpose. I'm not being a brave rebel or anything, but I guess my subconscious is.

Great bottle. Same one we have at home. I should say ones, plural. Each year, right after Ash Wednesday, I begin my apple champagne for Easter.

Any clear apple juice will do as the base. If you brew, you know how to bump the PA up to about 11%. Use champagne yeast -- the Quebec ones are the best, and ferment to dryness.

About 1% priming sugar for two weeks -- preferably in the type of bottle Ann illustrates -- will get it done. It comes out to about 20% of the cost of the cheapest decent champagne -- Freixenet -- out there.

Nice weather up here in Passaic County NJ also. Hope it stays for the weekend.

The mail lady didn't pick up my census form.

She whizzed past, fixed on the thought that she had no mail for me and could whiz past, unimpressed by the mail flag.

She delivers most mail to the right box, but you sometimes have to do a final sort into neighbors' boxes.

She's very very swift, and delivers mail like the trains used to do at places the trains didn't stop.

On her vacation days or sick days, her replacement is hours behind her schedule.

It does feel like a Friday.

Since tomorrow is a mandatory *furlough* day in the State of Wisconsin, it is Friday!!

I bet the astoundingly affluent residents of Boulder support the head commie almost to a man. The more beautiful the people the more oblivious. Hard to believe in these enclaves of the affluent beautiful but they aren't exempt from economic law. In the coming implosion even the elect will be touched.

The Kitchen is certainly one of our favorite places to eat when I visit Boulder. Also: West End Tavern (drinks on the roof during the summer too), Aji, and Lucille's (breakfast).

Haven't made it to Frasca yet. We missed it last time because I think they are closed on Sundays.

That looks like the opening act of the famous triad of desires: a loaf of bread, a jug of wine , and thee.

For the love of God, I'd like some FoxNews / Sean Hannity fan to explain this statement where he calls the Tea Party crowd "Tim McVeigh Wannabes” and they applaud?.

And he did so from the Reagan Presidential Library.

What has conservatism come to? This is stock America-hating stuff. McVeigh had American blood on his hands.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Here's the full quote from Fox News guy Sean Hannity:

“I think we won the debate… When you think of the vast majorities that they have in Congress and they had to bribe, backroom deals, corruption. That’s all because the Tea Party movement, the people, all these Tim McVeigh wannabes here.”

Ugh.

knox म्हणाले...

Alpha you are so tonedeaf.

[Sean Hannity's an idiot, just not that type of idiot.]

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

What do you mean "tonedeaf?" He said McVeigh wannabes and they applauded.

That means there is something wrong with me??

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Wasn't he being sarcastic? Like: this is what they call us and we know how wrong they are?

Paco Wové म्हणाले...

"Humor", "sarcasm", "nuance", "existence of things neither black nor white"... these things are unknown in AlphaWorld.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

If he was being sarcastic, he should avoid it. Dude's not a comedian and the delivery was a bit flat. And the people didn't really laugh which gave it a surreal quality.

Even giving him the benefit of a doubt, which he forfeited, it's bad timing and bad taste. For Pete's sake we just had heavily-armed right-wing militia busted in Michigan. Some of those types don't get the Hannity nuance. Let's not give them ideas.

We hear a lot of talk fro the Hannity and Coulter types about death: bombing NYT, poisoning justices, beating liberals to a pulp, etc, etc. They should be more responsible.

@Paco Wové:

AlphaWorld ... I like that ... a world where everything has a template ...

CyndiF म्हणाले...

Have you tried the new place, Salt? Very good, much like the Kitchen, style-wise.
