At the Income Tax Café...
... just get it done so you can complain about it. Or do it so you can stop thinking about it. That's what I do.

For all of you who paid no federal income taxes this year, you're welcome.
Not thinking about it doesn't get you around gathering up multi-state tax forms for part-year marriages and figuring out the directions when each state claims priority over all your income.
Move to Guam.
Guam might capsize - be careful!
Dropped my return off in the mail this morning along with a check.
"Dropped my return..."
That signifies you're in a state with no income tax. Congratulations (I guess).
That beautiful photo illustrating this post almost made the tedious task of of toiling for hours to complete my tax return worth it.
I've had the ugliest taxes this year of my life thus far. Lived in two states, got married, bought a house, worked three jobs (one as a contractor), cashed out some investments to help pay for the house -- and then my husband's got his hand in 3 different businesses, himself.
Fortunately, HE is taking care of the taxes. He's spent hours and hours on them already, and has already pulled them up again tomorrow. (It's one of my top 10 favorite things about my husband -- he's great with money and numbers and will willingly do all the taxes.)
We're going out tomorrow to celebrate just being DONE with it. Assuming that he does get done today.
Neil Boortz was talking yesterday about people have no idea how much they pay in taxes because of withholding. "Oh, I didn't pay anything this year! I got $750 back!" Idiots.
I filed my.........extension weeks ago!

I wish. I should have written "returns". The check is for the feds.

You still have to pay your tax $$$ even if you file an extension.
Filed mine last month. No point in waiting. Sending the checks today. No point in sending in the money too early.
We tend to file early, so to get it out of the way, and, I guess as an added bonus, to not have to think about it. That was back in February.
DBQ:
My acct calculated my 2009 estimated fed & state tax liabilities and I had paid more than the estimates before I filed the extension.
I guess I can look at it this way. The checks are my pre-paid premiums for my future Medicare insurance and help cover the social security checks I will get someday. Some of my money goes for our roads and the military and they waste the rest.
Fuck that.
I'm no longer paying my income taxes until Tom Daschle and Tim Geithner are put in jail for income tax evasion.
And you're a fool if you continue to pay your taxes.
Next year, I lose one of my child tax credits. Sadness.
I've already spent my refund. We got it in February.
Oh, and Sea Urchin? Your taxes do sound dreadful. I had one consulting job last year and that was bad enough. I'm hoping to have none this year. It'll simplify tax time and I want to drive down our income so when we fill out the FAFSA next year, schools will think we're poor.
Great tips! For ideas on how you can take charge of your own health care costs, check out Whatstherealcost.org.

You are probably the last person in the United States filing paper income tax forms!
The Blonde and I got to keep some of ours this year, mirabile dictu. She has an accountant because of her business, so we get a few breaks. Back before we got married, my attitude on this (taxes) was, "Let me know if you see anything else you want while you're looking". rialby is right about Boortz; people don't seem to get the concept that it's their money, not a gift.
Martha's right about the photo - gorgeous.
Who cares?
Now ThaT is another really nice magnolia.

I normally go electronic, but Wisconsin wouldn't let me do it. The part-year residency factor for some reason precluded it.
