Is Mickey Kaus really running for the Senate against Barbara Boxer?

"Technically I've only taken out the nomination papers, to gather the necessary signatures. I haven't returned them yet."

All right then. Good luck!

"The Democrat has been centrist and even conservative on some of the issues on which Boxer has taken a more left-leaning stand, including immigration: He does not favor amnesty and favors a more restrictive national policy."

Well, it's a good time to shake things up. These are unsettled times, and the Democrats could use a good dose of conservatism.

I hope Mickey adds rousting the Mexican drug gangs out of our parks to his campaign platform.

Send in the Marines, kill the farmers, cut off their heads and put them on stakes and advertise the images on every telenovela in Mexico. That's what I'd do. Where is Ann Coulter when you need her?

Instead of a traditional debate, Kaus should challenge Boxer to do Bloggingheads with him. It would be great theater.

Would Boxer roll her eyes at Kaus like Bob Wright does?

Go for it Mickey. If nothing else will, complying with the election laws will make you a conservative. Just try to figure out what you can say on your blog once you run for office, and whether other bloggers can link to you.

Maybe there is no restriction, but won't it be fun paying a lawyer $400 an hour to find out?

Wince म्हणाले...

I'd vote for him, maybe.

I can't wait for the "demon sheep" ad.

It'll probably star Bob Wright saying "keep Mickey away from the sheep!"

Semi-conservatives will be the death of us all. Better the shitstorm of pure marxism full in the face. Only then will the great counterswing commence.

"Mickey, Mickey, you're so fine, you blow my mind, hey Micky..."

Sorry, Frenchsca and I can't vote in your primary, otherwise we would.

Boxer is ... oh nevermind.

Joe म्हणाले...

He wouldn't stand a chance in hell. Quixotic campaigns can be fun, but not for egg head anti-charismatic fellow like Kaus.

Now, with the new 'smaller bill,' and Warren Buffett's song and dance about costs, costs, costs, I think we will see Wreck-con-silly-ation all over the place.

Pelosi gets away with it because she spends hours in makeup. And, then comes out briefly for sound bites. Weird sound bites. True. But I don't even know if there's a real person there, or not. Has she ever been seen for longer periods of time? And, can you tell me why she's been tasked to carry this dynamite, uphill? Isn't she old, and rotten? Won't her makeup melt?

Is California ready for a male Senator?

What good does that do when they vote like robots on legislation?

Here in Virginia, we supposedly have two moderate-conservative Democrat senators. But we may as well have a couple of hard-line Marxists for all the good it has done us since they both have done nothing but vote the way Reid and Pelosi have told them to vote.

You mean, Is Mickey Kaus really running for the Senate against Senator Barbara Boxer.

She worked *so hard* to get that title...

I've always enjoyed reading kausfiles. Unlike many liberals, he's not a party hack and calls out his party when he thinks they're screwing up.

He's for HCR, but he was an early critic of the Obama administration approach of claiming that it could both reduce costs AND cover everybody when it obviously can't do both.

If there are going to be people sitting on the opposite side of aisle from me politically, I'd much rather it be a seemingly common sense guy like Mickey than Senator Ma'am.

Getting rid of Boxer would be an improvement. She no longer represents the people California.

That could be his campaign slogan. "I'm da man"

Well, her husband's money did, anyway.

Most of the people in DC don't represent where they're supposed to be from.

Oh, click on it, it's Monday, you need a laugh.

I frankly don't expect much from Althouse when it comes to politics, but even she should be able to see that supporting reduced imm. isn't really a "conservative" position. Considering the massive unemployment in the U.S., supporting plans to reduce the numbers of low-wage workers being imported are an American position.

Obviously, a lot of Democrats and Republicans are on the other side, supporting policies that hurt their fellow citizens in order to enrich themselves in one way or another.

If you want to know the truth about this issue and all the things you won't hear from almost all r/w or l/w bloggers and the MSM, I've been covering immigration since 2002 in thousands of posts. Not every post is about imm. matters, but most are. And, I've worked very hard to organize my archives so you can find the information you need; see the search tools in the right sidebar.

Just for laughs, I'd love to see a Boxer/Kaus debate, but I'd really miss Kausfiles...

Yes, Democrats have an entire crop of Manchurian Candidate RINOs already positioned inside the Republican Party ready to continue their takeover of the country.

Kaus is one of them ... liberals with a little bit of spine, but still liberals nonetheless.

You saw Mitch Daniels' attempted coming out party earlier this week with coordinated posts here at Althouse and at the other "conservative" blogs.

There was even a post over at National Review by Tevi Troy (um, who?) saying what a good week Daniels enjoyed after fawning profiles in the WSJ and NY Times.

Look folks: If the New York Times finds a Republican acceptable ... he's a Manchurian Candidate who should be immediately purged from our party. And Mitch Daniels is getting John McCain-type coverage from the New York Times.

Here's the NY Times Newest Maverick (taking over the reigns from loser John McCain):

Here's Tevi Troy's Fawning Drooling:

Get this guy the fuck out of our Party. He's clearly a plant.

"the Democrats could use a good dose of conservatism."

Oh for Pete's sake. Conservatism left the country in the ditch. Our economy teetering on the brink due to conservative free market fundamentalism.

Conservatism has been discredited in dozens of ways. Today it's reduced to a joke, a bunch of thugs and ignoramuses, stopping the country's business from being done until everything is done their way.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are paralyzed by their right wing, who demands, surprise, that everything be done their way without compromise. They held the health care bill for months trying to get Republican votes.

Nonsense!

Kaus could present himself as a representative of people, however rare, who 1) think things through; and 2) aren't afraid to think for themselves, at the risk of being persecuted by the true believers.

If he does run I'll be the first to volunteer for the campaign.

I'll be hitting his Paypal button should he decide to run.

A virus killed my computer years ago so now I just surf on my bberry. (BTW note to Ann...the new layout is better but seems to load much slower). So I miss out on bloggingheads.tv. But I remember Kaus being pretty sensible but between him and a conservative there is no contest.

Hey Alpha have you noticed that Greece and California are both bankrupt? They are in the inevitable endstate of the welfare state.BTW Arnold is NOT a conservative and neither was Bush.

I would vote for Mickey Kaus. Especially in California, where the odds of getting a real conservative are so slim. Mickey's honest, and has spent the past several years as an honest observer of politics--at least, when we disagree, I know why.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

As a Californian, I will support anyone who runs against Boxer...anyone, anything, anytime. Although I never voted for her, I apologize for her presence in your Senate.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Even though Boxer now lives in Rancho Mirage, I think that many Californians feel that our senators represent Northern California. May Kaus weaken Boxer in the primary and DeVore win in November.
