We're supposed to get tons of snow here in NYC this week!

Real live trees! In HS Biology we all had to pick a science project and make a report on it in 13weeks. I picked an easy one. Watching a maple tree's growth from fall into winter and spring The bark, leaves and sap and seeds all do involved stuff. But my girlfriend couldn't get over the idea that I was watching a tree grow. Come to think of it, that was funny.

The 30" we got a couple of weeks ago was enough to take down several huge fir trees in the neighborhood. So global-warming caused blizzard is also a tree killer. Oh well, USA wins huge hockey game vs. Canada and Thomas Friedman is still a barking idiot. Cheers, life is good.

These trees have personality. The one on the left looks like a haggard drunk grumbling and poking at the one on the right, which looks startled and stiff, maybe a bit affronted.

HKatz ...That is a great imagination. Do you do Tree Psychotherapy?

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Both of my brothers could ID those trees by their profiles. I'll guess that the one on the left is a Burr Oak. The one on the right? No idea.

HKatz म्हणाले...

Do you do Tree Psychotherapy?

No, no... even though it would be rather easy, in most cases, to get to the root of the problem :)

HKatz...Yes, and I have heard that if you bend a sapling, you will forever causes a tree to be twisted that way. I suspect that Meade has had a long experience raising trees from the nursery into trees with their roots planted by the waters. They also say that the first man's job had a lot to do with the care of trees, when he wasn't naming animals.

We're supposed to get a little rain here tomorrow, hopefully washing away a good part of the %$#@^&^%*^&%*^% snow.

Frankly, although Ann's snowscapes are quite evocative (nothing quite says, "burrow in", like them), with The Blonde on crutches and 2 new puppies, the snow is the last thing I want to see for another nine months. The phrase "stir crazy" describes us all too well.

@HKatz

You know, until I read your comment, I thought the trees were happily paired. I was about to post of their love. But you're right. I'm ashamed to be so oblivious.

And just think...they can't get away from each other. They're trapped. Together. Forever.

We earn from a motion for child support, that Sarah Palin's grandson relies on government provided health care. Hopefully the death panels will let little Tripp live. See Section C

We learn, damnit.

I guess I should get a new keyboard.

White oak and Osage-orange, it looks like.

and 2 new puppies, the snow is the last thing I want to see

Dig shovel-wide dog trails around the yard.

It's very little work when the snow is fresh-fallen, much easier than a driveway.

I'm ready for leaves on the trees.

The first snow was almost gone two weeks after the pups were born (1/7). After a week away, we came back (1/31) to six inches of snow (hardened, of course) with the kids less than a month old and temps in the 20s. I don't think we're gonna send newborns out in weather like that.

(Yes, Mom, Dad, and Grandma go out every day.)

Gimme shelter.

Enough Already!

February, you are such a pain in the ass --
With your stupid never ending white
And your ghastly wan and blackened blight
Denying us a glimpse of the overdue grass.

That view looks very familiar. However, the particular place I'm thinking of has been developed.

I think once the leaves appear they will considerably soften the trees' appearances and render them more harmonious, to some extent.
