Does Kos think teabagging is a vice? I can't see what it has to do with (the admittedly handsome) Scott Brown, but it certainly is a reflection on Kos! Shouldn't a liberal be more accepting of various sexual practices? Why is he being so puritanical? Really, I am surprised that he's so judgmental about teabagging that he would call it a vice — as if it were depraved, wicked, and sinful.
Now, maybe if you put my head in a vise and screwed it in far enough, I'd admit that I knew what Kos was trying to say, but for now, my view is that he is an reactionary prig.

LOL! I see you packed your sense of humor with your toothbrush when you travel.
Tea bagging?
What might that be?
;)
Now, now, now!
It's only *nasty* when heterosexuals do it!
So Kos says Brown had his teabag caught in a vice? That is as cruel as the slat chair at the beach in last weeks post. Brown must have fallen asleep and the sun warmed up his teabag. Massachusetts politics is way more fun than most places, and the Kennedys are not even running this time. And has anyone noticed the physical resemblance between Scot Brown and Todd Palin. That alone could stop Brown's chances if revealed to the adroit Massachusetts voters.
...my view is that he is an reactionary prig.
I say Kos has gone into a tailspin.
Really, I am surprised that he's so judgmental about teabagging that he would call it a vice — as if it were depraved, wicked, and sinful.
Well, I grant you it's not fisting, but it'll do, pig, it'll do.
Cheers,
Victoria
I can't figure out what Kos's criticism actually is. As near as I can tell he is saying that Brown has to deal with multiple constituencies, some of which have opposing agendas. In other words, Kos just defined politics and said that this is a problem for a politician. (It's like saying that the problem with this Doctor is that he has to deal with patients who might be sick.)
OT: And the story everyone is talking about: Michael Meehan, the Democratic operative thug who allegedly pushed a Weekly Standard reporting for daring to ask Marfa a question (the noive!), is an Obama appointee to the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
Change we can believe in, folks.
Cheers,
Victoria
Next time Brown visits Milwaukee, he should stay at the Pfister.
And the desperation sets in...Kos and Co. don't know what else to bring up.
wv: baleush...
wv: mebalis!! You can't teabag properly without them.
HEY ERNIE! Long time, brode! :)
Agreed. Teabaggers are God's children too.
From Kos: The teabaggers demand ideological purity
No, they demand integrity and action. Kos is confusing the Tea Party with religious conservatives and liberals, especially "greens."
The point of the tea party movement is that too many Republicans ran as fiscal conservatives and then voted for largess.
(I wouldn't be surprised if the tea party movement gets hijacked by religious conservatives, but that's not the case now, even if there is much overlap.)
Some people are missing the joke! Please reread.
As for the alleged pushing incident, I've intentionally avoided posting about it. Let's not talk about that here.
Stop it, Pogo. You're making Jeremy all hot and bothered.
Vics!! How's global warming treating you in South Florida these days? ;)
wv: coloasm (Could it be?? I didn't think it was physiologycally possible!)
Joe, I actually just wrote this on the Daily Caller story about the ALA pulling out of the Tennessee TP shindig.
"I’m a conservative Republican, and though I support the anti-taxation protests of the Tea Party movement, I am not a Tea Party supporter.
If I had wanted to protest, march and be jostled by political crowds, I would’ve been born a liberal."
I meant it, too.
Cheers,
Victoria
"hold them up and Kos!"
Cu'anito! Mira que tu tienes cosa! LOL, it's great to see you. :)
You know, we had a viejito die in Little Havana Monday, due to cold? He and his 93 yo roomie were rushed to Jackson-Mem because they were frostbitten due to freezing without blankets and heaters in their home.
Astonishingly, the younger of the two men died. The 93 yo is hanging in there, though in very serious condition.
Que pena...
Cheers,
Victoria
The left throw out these names because they are out of ideas.
Teabagger
Sarah Palin
Bush
Cheney
The left's ideas are so poisonous, toxic and disastrous for America - they are hoping the diversion works.
Teabagger!
And in some small way, the 'tea baggers' were inspired to action, and took the kind of tone they took, because of Kos and his ilk.
Yeah, but doesn't Coakley rely on support from guys like Kos who want to flush America's glory down the hole? Will Mass voters turn out for a gloryholer candidate?
I think Brown is handsome, like JFK.
Brown's ideals are closer to JKF's ideals as well.
glory down the hole
Teabagging. Fisting. Glory holes. Why is politics today so kinky?
Ann,
Why are you intentionally avoiding the shoving story? That is a pretty interesting story and worth blogging about.
As far as Kos goes, what was he saying a week out last November before Corzine and Deeds got shellacked? I refuse to give the little scumbag's site any hits. So if anyone who does read him could tell me I would appreciate it. My guess is that he was talking about how much trouble the Republicans were in in those elections as well.
It is funny that Kos started as an insurgent in the Democratic party and now five years later is exactly the kind of party hack he claimed to hate in the beginning. I wonder what he got in exchange for his soul.
Vics, I've heard, it's very very sad. People are just not used to that down there. I have been calling my mother 'round the clock to check on her. She had to wait two days to get her heating fixed...she had never used it.
As for the alleged pushing incident, I've intentionally avoided posting about it. Let's not talk about that here.
Oh! ...strange, but hey, your blog, your rules so no worries.
They call themselves (you call yourselves?) TEABAGGERS. Auto-reactionary?
As for the alleged pushing incident, I've intentionally avoided posting about it. Let's not talk about that here.
It's your blog and all, but why the hell not?

You seriously can't walk us through this one, Ms. Professor?

Elvis Costello
"Oh you'll never beat the Democratic party girl
Maybe someday we can go hiding from this world
Maybe I'll never get over the change in style
But I don't want to lock you up and say you're mine
Don't want to lose you or say goodbye
I'm the guilty party and I want my slice
But I know you've got me and I'm in a grip-like vise."
She had to wait two days to get her heating fixed...she had never used it.
OMG, how awful. :( And very serious, as we can see. But I notice that one rarely hears of women dying of cold in their flats (God forbid I'm making any kind of connexion to your mum, of course!).
OTOH, rare is the woman who doesn't know about keeping a blanky or two around, even the poor ones who get them from El Goo'will.
Fuerza mama de Ernie! Que ya viene el calor!
Kos is wrong. In the words of the great Harry Ballsucker: Teabagging in the defense of liberty is no vice
What this says, months after the joke failed to anything other than make those who laughed at their own telling of it look childish, is that folks like Kos are really not as smart as they pretend to be.
Its not funny, not clever writing, and doesn't matter one bit to anyone who will vote for Brown. Maybe it'll get him an appearance on Countdown or Maddow, which are equally irrelevant.
It's easy to see the hypocrisy but being a hypocrite is the least of his problems.
She's strong. Funny enough, I got her a new bed set for Christmas this year. Something told me to do it.
Btw, I was in Miami this past summer. I've been able to connect and reconnect with a lot of people down there through FB. A lot of things have changed down there, some not so much...
wv: coure
I'd hate to have my teabag in a vice. Ouch!
Oh, and seat Brown NOW!
Reads to me that Kos pines for the days when he was the vice.
Fare thee well, Ned Lamont, we hardly knew ye.
Pogo, I was thinking of Elvis Costello's Cover of Brown to Blue. There's got to be a blue balls angle in here somewhere:
I couldn't keep my tears from falling,
On the courtroom floor,
By law, they took away my rights,
To love you anymore,
My world just seemed to stop,
While I stood there so close to you,
They changed your name from Brown to Jones,
And mine from Brown to blue
Dems are prepared to do whatever it takes..
BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts's top election official says it could take weeks to certify the results of the upcoming U.S. Senate special election. That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy's former seat.
"Why are you intentionally avoiding the shoving story?"
Because after watching the video twice, I can't tell what really happened. There was a bustle outdoors, in a crowd, in a situation that can feel like pushing but can simply be protecting the candidate from the crowd I think this detracts from the issue of who the voters should support.
Lem,
That is what they are saying. And I have no doubt the Mass Dems will drag their feet swearing in Brown if he wins. But I don't buy for a minute the national Dems will pass Obamacare while holding up Brown.
If Brown wins, the effects will be earth shattering. A Dem losing Ted Kennedy's Senate seat will scare the living crap out of every Dem office holder in the country. They will jump ship and sink Obamacare you watch.
There is really an odd symmetry to it. Obama was sworn in the Tuesday after MLK day 2009. His Presidency may effectively end and all hell break loose exactly 365 days later.
For a guy who claims to be interested in politics, Markos Moulitsas seems to have a pretty tin ear.
I think it's right and proper that you chose against blogging on the alleged shove of the alleged reporter. The AP, bless their even-handed hearts, described precisely what happened. Nothing to see here. Move along.
I didn't check, but was the shoving incident anything at all like that black dude (with no insurance) who went out protesting against health insurance, got into an argument, starting rolling around the ground, got back up to talk to reporters, and then ended up in a wheelchair the next day with his lawyer?
http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/political-media/dem-staffer-apologies-for-shoving-weekly-standard-staffer/
Now the staffer, Michael Meehan, sends over a statement admitting error (though not conceding bullying) and saying he also apologized directly to the Standard reporter, John McCormack:
Last evening I was a little too aggressive in the confusion of trying to help the Attorney General get to her car and catch a flight.
I clearly did not intend to cause John McCormack to trip and fall over that low fence. As the video shows and he confirms in his blog, I stopped to help him up and make sure he was OK.
I talked with Mr. McCormack this afternoon and apologized for my part.
"I didn't check, but was the shoving incident anything at all like that black dude (with no insurance)"
Why do you feel the need to mention if he has insurance and the fact that he is black? Do you just hate the poor? Have a problem with black people? We get the dog whistle here. Black people are no account uninsured bums looking to make an easy score with an ambulance chasing lawyer.
That kind of racist banter may be acceptable where you come from. But, it really isn't done around here.
Oh shut the fuck up.
Ann said:

There are photos of Coakley (The Attorney General) watching a credentialed press person be assaulted by her staff for asking a question.
Just saying that's an issue that voters should care about. She could have answered the question instead. It's important because it's happening a lot and it is potentially very dangerous politics. The idea of violence in politics is only scary when the right is accused of it. Otherwise, no big deal.
Certainly more important than whether Brown is sexy or not.
Distraction is in the eye of the beholder.
Maybe you can tell us about his negro dialect there garage. I hear that is a frequent topic of conversation in liberal circles.
As in South Florida, some things really don't change around here...

Headline:
"Dem Staffer Apologizes For Shoving Weekly Standard Reporter"
What adjactive starting with a vowel did la Althouse originally write before changing it to "an reactionary"? Coulda been a doozy!
What adjactive? An adjacent one!
Dem Staffer Apologizes For Shoving Weekly Standard Reporter
"The priest of religions heads the procession, holding in one hand a white flag, the sign of peace, and in the other a golden device depicting the male and female privy parts, as if to indicate that these carnal members are most of the time, all metaphor apart, very dangerous tools in the hands of those employing them, when manipulated blindly to different and conflicting ends, instead of engendering a timely reaction against that well-known passion which causes nearly all our ills. To the small of his back is attached (artificially, of course) a horse's tail, thick and flowing, which sweeps dust off the ground. It means, beware of debasing ourselves by our behaviour to the level of animals."

Kos is getting so desperate and upset, he confused his thesaurus with his copy of, "The Joy of Gay Sex".

See, the vice? Not so bad. But a vise? Yes, painful painful.
Even though I knew what the term meant, after reading the link at Wikipedia I have two questions:
1) What kind of a TV journalist would use such a term on air in prime time? Well I know that answer: A bad one.
2) Why has our species been allowed to survive. Just seems wrong.
WV: "mulati" = a sadly powerful political strategy in 2008.

Actually no. There is a picture of her looking at the reporter after he hit the ground. If you watch the video, you don't see what happened, but you do hear that his hitting the fence made a lot of noise. If Coakley had been looking ahead while walking, as is natural, she might well have not seen her staff member assault the reporter, and just looked over after the assault took place.
I'm not saying that the incident does not reflect badly on her, and I would love for her to lose, but the picture does not show what you say. ( Unless you have access to some other pictures that I have not seen. )
"Why has our species been allowed to survive. Just seems wrong."
Nobody in authority has noticed yet. Just wait.
Now, maybe if you put my head in a vise and screwed it in far enough...
Aha! So you admit that your head's not screwed in all the way!
"Does Kos think teabagging is a vice?"
Not knowing this kos fellow, I'd be inclined to interpret his use of the phrase on first reading as just the opposite, that is, misdirection by a closeted gay.
Ignorance is bliss, you can't be serious.
Even with the benefit of the doubt, she was within arms reach of the assault when it happened. Do reporters typically lay down on the pavement to ask questions? He had just fallen and she was looking right at him. If someone in that position said in court that they had no idea how he got there, I would discount the rest of their testimony. She was there when it happened, she's the freaking A.G.. Besides, I was just saying it was a more relevant issue than how sexy Brown is.
Kos is a filcher. Thats right, he sucks used cum out Obama's ass.
Dem lecture on "civility" in 3 2 1...
teabagging a vice? No it is known many at the Daily Kos like to dip their bags like that. Seriously, call them on this teabag slur when they make it.
Meanwhile:
Coakley mocks Fenway Fans, call them idiots. Rumor has it Michael Meehan, her confidant and assistant and press basher, is a Yankees fan. Coakley wants to go to Washington DC so she can watch the Ravens and Redskins more often. She does not care for the Patriots.
Scott Brown, however, honors the heroes of Fenway Park and the proud traditions of Boston Sports.
Fuck KOS.
bagoh20 -
Of course I'm serious. The picture does not show her witnessing the assault. It shows her witnessing the aftermath of the assault. It is certainly possible that she witnessed the assault, but the picture does not show that.
Based on what is visible in the picture, it's even possible there was no assault. The reporter could have tripped entirely on his own, or been accidentally tripped by her staff member. ( I'm not saying I believe that. Based on the video and the reporter's statement I'd certainly convict if I was on a jury. ( and no compelling contradictory evidence was presented. )
This has to be the most pathetic rant from Kos yet. Yeah politics is bad for politicians! Desperate times.
BTW more desperation from lefties:
Dems declare war on Rasmussen poll
Shoot the messenger, great tactic there!
Althouse, You are complete idiot on this one. The "tea party" began with the name tea bag! See www.teabag.org! That's them.
And there were chuckles about it on HuffPo over nine months ago.
So either you have demonstrated your total ignorance about the history of this movement, or you are pretending not to know that history in order to take a cheap shot at Kos.
Which one it is, Althouse?
Either way, you look like a major jerk on this one.
www.teabag.org huh. Well disguised web site.
Joe said @ 1/13/10 3:01 PM
the interesting thing is, other than the lack of grammar check, is that you could switch Brown's name with Coakley and it would be more true.
The usage of "vice" was clearly used as in: stuck between a rock and hard place or tight situation. Which makes one wonder, can anybody on this blog read?
Teabagging may be a vice, but Teapartying is an American birthright. Rock on, Scott.
Jeremy: Althouse, You are complete idiot on this one. The "tea party" began with the name tea bag! See www.teabag.org! That's them.
Bullshit. Standard libtard propaganda.
Hey Jeremy, how long have you've been filching? What is it about sucking that filth up that turns you on? Weirdo.
Kos is also guilty of situational ethics. If your buddy Andrew Sullivan were found teabagging (with a small "t"), Kos certainly wouldn't have an issue with it.
Jeremy! Checked teabag.org and it really nails those Reich-Wing retards:
tea, herbal tea, tea sales
Organic Teas, Delicious and Healthy
Organic foods and drinks are becoming increasingly popular, and tea is no exception Organic teas be can be purchased in most places that sell tea, but shopping online is the surest way to make sure that you get best selection at the best prices
I can see how this justifies calling those dopes teabaggers.
But by the same light, I guess it's fair to call Kos readers Baby Fuckers for all the NAMBLA porn on their site.
Jeremy, You are complete idiot on this one. See www.teabag.org! It proves you're just stirring shit up. You're a self-outed Salad Tosser!
So either you have demonstrated your total ignorance about the history of this movement, or you are pretending not to know that history in order to take a cheap shot at Tea Partiers.

This his been my personal experience as well.
When I read through the definition of the term in the urban dictionary, I definitely got the sense that - at least in some examples - 'lack of consent' was implied in the description.
Not something to joke about.
kos contains the same amount of letters as duh. Coincidence? I think not.
Althouse.
Well of course you're surprised. Why would anybody on the radical left, voting for Obama, expect Kos to be civil?
Makes no sense, right?
Lemme get this straight. You're a professor?

I'm with you on this one. Not only does the photo not show her seeing an assault, but the next thing she would have seen in the sequence is her staffer helping the guy up.
And for that she's supposed to call in the cops? One thing we rely upon cops to do is not arrest people for every willy nilly contretemps. I'd rather not have A.G. think that way either.
Everyone Knows that anyone who knows any thing about Tea will only use loose-leaf (or block of pu-er, but that's another matter).
Teabagging is evidence that one is irredeemably declasse and knows nothing about the way to properly brew tea.
That's obviously what Kos meant, right?
In the video I saw, she was smacking other ladies with her purse while reenacting the Battle of Pearl Harbour.
Oh, wrong video.
