What's up with people calling immense, fully-grown dogs "puppy"?

Re: Vbspurs

Because they still act like puppies, we call them puppies.

Irene म्हणाले...

"Well hello there puppy in the little red coat!"

Pat म्हणाले...

You may have posted this in a comment section and I didn't see it, but how do you like Austin, Ann?

You've certainly been there long enough to get a good feel for the place.

Happy birthday Anne!

59 year old women are hot, Mrs. Rustbelt included.

Best of everything!

Moose म्हणाले...

Ann, didn't you lecture that man in shorts? He was right there!! Wearing shorts! Flaunting his limbs!

Want to see some really cool dog stuff? Go north up N Lamar along Pease Park and turn in and park at the off-leash dog park section (about 24th or so).

Enjoy.

That was freaking Pit Bull puppy! You are lucky to still be alive.

First of all, I don't lecture anyone about their shorts. Second, he was out on a running path with his dog, so he was engaged in a shorts-appropriate activity.

How do I like Austin? It's just great for us aging always-almost-hippies.

You wouldn't believe the hippieishness of the café we are in right now.

Pictures later.

Town Lake is a great place to go running.

But I guess we should be using the new name "Lady Bird Johnson Lake" or something like that.

The dogs are fun, and the cute "breast wielding" women are nice too.

What I like is that there's always someone to pass so it keeps me motivated to run harder.

Rialby म्हणाले...

Uhh, when are you going home?

I keed, I keed.

JAL म्हणाले...

Today is Rush's birthday. Same age.

Now we know the attraction .....

The Professor and Rush are twins separated at birth.

Looks like it's not too bad there, chill-wise. Glad you guys are enjoying yourselves.

I always used to laugh ruefully, "Kids and dogs love me", when all the dogs, little kids, and even cats would come over to me. Then one of my brothers-in-law told me not to, on the grounds that they're awfully good judges of character.

In your case, obviously so.

The Blonde calls all of our Yorkies puppies. I think it's code for, "fur children".

PS "shorts-appropriate" Love it!

Scott म्हणाले...

Do they make the humans pick up the poop of their dog-masters there?

Moose म्हणाले...

Interesting: so inappropriate garments are or are not context sensitive?

Woman wearing long skirts skiing (for the last 60 years or so considered a sport that you wear pants/tights for). Whereas shorts for a man walking a dog (walking, not running) is considered appropriate. In cool weather (not hot).

Dunno - just trying to feel out the logic here, professor...

Titus म्हणाले...

I love dogs.

Dogs are the best.

Penny म्हणाले...

"What's up with people calling immense, fully-grown dogs "puppy"?"

Yeah! And what's up with some women calling fully-grown men, "dog"? ;)

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I hope common courtesy makes humans pick of the dog dirt (as Mom used to call it).

As we all know (those who have had dogs), at a certain point in the relationship you realize that you're not walking the dog, the dog is walking you.

There's a human analogy there but I'll leave it to others to figure.

Yeah, canine-whipped.

Too true! lol I know because I've been there done that three times now.

The really funny thing though, is watching new dog owners. And that includes even those who have owned dogs in the past, but now they have a new one to "train".

They are just SO earnest! Because THIS time, you know, it's going to be so different.

God bless dog owners...

Or maybe I should have said...

God bless the dogs...

Don't the hippy, lefty tools of Austin know by now that other envirokooks have deemed that dogs are an ever greater danger/threat to the world than farting cows or global warming or whatever alarmist nonsense they could come up with.

On a side note, people tend to raise their voices into a higher pitches around babies and dogs because both are viewed nearly the same. Something that needs to be taken care by us and therefore they bring immense pleasure and contentment to those that take care of them. Plus babies and dogs always act goofy anyway.

Penny म्हणाले...

And rh? Can that Vicki get one bit cuter than she already is?

As ever, thanks for sharing her.

Penny म्हणाले...

"Something that needs to be taken care by us and therefore they bring immense pleasure and contentment to those that take care of them."

Thinking I read something recently that said we were hardwired to respond that way to babies?

All these animal posts. Althouse has become a ratings whore.

Next, a post about Kittens (LoL) in Austin.

P.S. - I love animals - but what about some breasts?
