And nice looking daughters they are! There should be no lack of suitors. A moment of comic exuberance, destined to become a best-loved story of the Brown family.

And I've got two unmarried sons in their early twenties. Sounds good to me!!!

Regardless of what one does, what one's politics are, or what one personally thought of the candidates I think we can all come together and say, with conviction, that we were all watching MSNBC last night hoping Olbermann's head would explode.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Senator Brown is a good politician.

muddimo म्हणाले...

Beautiful girls who obviously have a great relationship with their Dad.

Henry म्हणाले...

I could use an affordable baby sitter.

lucid म्हणाले...

I'm sure his wife handed him his head on this one.

Ron म्हणाले...

If Obama lets them play two on two hoop as Brown mentioned also, I want to see one of the daughters( who plays college hoop ) posterize The One.

The Den Mother म्हणाले...

I'm with you, lucid. If my husband did that, I would go all Lysistrata on his sorry ass. That said, I laughed at almost all his other quips, especially the one about offering to show Obama his truck.

He has excellent political chops. Good judgment on the stump. Speaks well off the cuff. I hope he has the smarts to ignore the sycophants that will be in his ear telling him to run for President. No doubt he has a lot to learn. We don't need another lightweight with a messiah complex.

He was caught up in the moment. Apparently his true self is goofy.

I thought it was pretty tacky, but not the worst I've ever seen.

ricpic म्हणाले...

Cut the guy some slack, everybody says goofy things in a moment of euphoria. But he'll still be sleeping on the couch for a week.

knox म्हणाले...

I would go all Lysistrata on his sorry ass.

LMAO!! Quote of the Year so far.

knox म्हणाले...

Oh yeah, forgot to say, tacky but no big deal.

Ron म्हणाले...

Just so long as she doesn't go all Antigone on his ass instead!

Charlie Martin म्हणाले...

I'm up for it if either of them is interested in a fat middle-aged hermit.

Or both. Insert Romney joke here.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Oh, for crying out loud.

It was the biggest night of his life (professionally). From the looks of his wife, she is hip enough to understand.

That happened years ago. What you see is a 3D hologram developed as an early test for Avatar.

I've been so tuned out that this video was the first time I've seen "Scotty the Hotty." I'd had already heard about the Cosmo picture, and I'd heard the "StH" nickname. IMHO, this guy looks pretty normal to me. Of course, not being gay, I don't really know what makes one guy hotter than another.

But, not being gay, I am qualified to observe that the daughters aren't very hot. It's not that there's anything wrong w/ them; just not hot.

Dust Bunny Queen म्हणाले...

We laughed at this part.

I could just see my daughter going: "Oh my God, Dad!! Please shut up..." and hiding her face in good natured embarassment.

It was cute in a goofy way and showed that the family seems to be a pretty nice bunch of people who get along and are proud of each other.

Brill!

1jpb: Having seen the lovely and untalented Ayla in person, I can't tell you how wrong you are. She is very hot. Can't sing worth a crap, but hot.

She was looking puffy and very tired last night, as you might expect. In fact, she seems to be one of those people who look much worse on television than in person. Too bad for a politician's daughter.

She really can't sing, a bit like the unlovely and untalented Margaret Truman, which is something else too bad for a politician's daughter.

Slightly OT: I've also been one of those who has long found Ayla's mom, the local TV reporter Gail Huff, slightly hot, as well. She's never been a reporterette babe with great bone structure. No, she's a work-a-day television reporter, who looks like a mom you'd meet at the kids' baseball game, but who's easy to listen to and look at. I won't say MILF, because that would be too crude, but she's always been someone I liked to see on channel 5 (the best commercial TV station in the country, IMHO), because of her knowledgeable, solid reporting and great on-camera skills.

And, believe me, when they dress her in a slicker in a howling nor'easter, and she's reporting on local flooding, while clinging to a lamppost on the Lynnway, you know you've got someone with determination.

Seems to run in the family.

Joan म्हणाले...

Theo, you've said before that Ayla can't sing, and I have to disagree with you. What you mean is that you don't like her singing, and I can see why -- but the girl can sing, on key and everything.

The fact that when she does it grates on every nerve is an entirely different story.

This struck me as the kind of moment that reveals that the Browns really are "regular people." Brown's not the first father I've seen embarrass his daughters this way -- although the national tv audience was unusual.

She's pretty talented at basketball, even if her singing doesn't work for you.

former law student म्हणाले...

A sure laugh getting line that makes him again seem a regular family man.

अनामित म्हणाले...

HKatz: Yes, she really ought to stick to basketball.

Joan: I'm a former professional musician, complete with a master's degree, and I currently work as a flute maker. I used to tune pianos and build harpsichords. In those days, I typically tuned 20 keyboard instruments a week. Nowadays, I frequently find myself doing the final musical adjustments, including detailed tuning, of the professional piccolos we make. As a result, I pride myself on my sense of intonation.

(Aside: I AM getting older, and, with age comes decrepitude, including that of the ears. I don't think I'm there yet, but I am beginning to not CARE very much if Ms. Brown or anyone else is out-of-tune.)

So, having heard her in person, without benefit of AutoTune, I have to say she was pretty off pitch. She has the pop singer habit of nailing a note with determination and emoting on it, even, or especially, if it's 20 cents flat. Singing notes clearly and forcefully does not mean they're in tune.

She also has a natural range of a little less than an octave. She COULD sing up into something like a head register, but she made no effort to blend her registers. I can't blame her, though. Hardly any pop singers even know what that means.

With three radically different sounds in her three so-called "registers" and noticeable breaks between them, she might consider dressing in Dirndl and taking up yodeling with an oompah band.

And even if she played the accordian while doing so, it would be a lot less irritating than what she currently does.

(Now I sincerely hope Scott Brown doesn't go all Harry Truman on me. It really would be a bad way to start.)

Glen Beck's reaction to that strange moment? ‘This one could end with a dead intern.’

Levi Johnston need not apply. Don't even THINK about it, mister.

Growing up in the NE that comment is so Yankee as to be stereotypical... Something many of us grew up with and still do. I think y'all read way to much into. Yankee dads embarrass their kids... its what we do.
