It takes more than a little snow to keep down those intrepid little guys!

Ricardo म्हणाले...

Don't rye for me Argentina,
The truth is I'm not done shoveling ...

David म्हणाले...

I can't come up with any rye comments.

I believe that snow will blanket/insulate thus keeping plants at 32 F. It is the -2 F with a 30 mph wind coming in tonight that kills living plants not already gone dormant.

Why is there rye in the windowbox? What characteristics of rye suggest that the windowbox is the appropriate placement?

Meade म्हणाले...

@ Original Mike: You kinda have to be a hort geek to get the joke.

On the other hand, who can't appreciate a ch-ch-ch chia windowbox?

Original Mike म्हणाले...

A joke, eh? So you're having fun at the expense of us rubes. (not that there's anything wrong with that).

David म्हणाले...

"hort geek"

Love it.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

So what is Meade's recommendation for a beginning hort book?

MamaM म्हणाले...

Ryesicles

I thought this was what you guys mean as a subtle hint
about the rye

:-)

@Freeman, here's a good one to get you started:

I also got a lot out of this book:

For woodies, the "bible:"

And serious hort geekdom:

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Oh wow! I didn't know if you'd see my comment. Thanks!

Ricardo म्हणाले...

Thank you Freeman for asking the question, and thank you Meade for giving the answer. Those are some great hort book ideas, and I've ordered a couple from Amazon.
