It's Robert Mugabe, lecturing the leaders at the Copenhagen.
And now President Barack Obama is there. He's saying, "The time for talk is over." Ironically, he's talking.

When someone says that people ultimately get the government they deserve, I try to imagine how the people of Zimbabwe deserved Mugabe. And then I get a headache.
Funny how environmentalism shades into socialism over time.
Given the exemplary environmental record of socialist countries, this make total sense.
Mugabe = Liberals!
They gave Mugabe a platform? Whatever for?
Robert, there are far more people dying in Zimbabwe from your death squads than pollution, you murdering hack. Why is that incompetent tyrants like Mugabe and Chavez can even show their faces at something like this? Who looks at the state of these fools countries and says "yeah, we need this guys good advice, he clearly knows what he is doing"
If the foo shits, garage.
And when the lesser mortals of older societies which by all lights and logic should have led humanity in developing by virtue of their age, but who because of their political arrangements have prevented them from developing beyond tribal organization, slaughter and consume monkeys they tend to contract SIVS which is HIV and becomes AIDS in humans creating and epidemic in which they're utterly unable to cope which eventually affects the entire globe which must then expend its resources to halt and to seek a cure and then send those resources below cost back to those nations refusing to develop lest they be wiped completely from the Earth. So the answer is to learn from our mistakes, stop your whining, and get your politically retarded and lazy arses developed.
Obama sounds more and more like a broken record...."the time for talk is over".
Is there a cord in his back that you pull to get Obama and the teleprompter powered up for his canned speech?
BTW - in what year, will the phrase "sounds like a broken record" become a language artifact and have no meaning to the average person?
Sadly, Mugabe missed breaking the all-time inflation record. Better luck next time!
Has Obama used every possible variant of "shut up" yet?
"The time for talk is over, because we are the ones we've been waiting for."
Fuck.
I had not yet seen AJ Lynch's question when I posted my own broken-record message. Spooky!
There are undoubtedly kids out there even now who are wondering what setting a new record has to do with repeating oneself.
He keeps saying that "the time for talk is over," but he keeps on talking, doesn't he?
AJ, I think it already has, but phraseology hasn't been rapid as changes.
* bolloxed 8-track
* stripped tape
* damaged disc
We can probably use corrupt MP3 file.
I'm sure the world leaders will enjoy being scolded by The One. I know the American public certainly does.
Time for talking is at the precipice.
When he says "the time for talk is over" he means "the time for spending money has begun."
Chip:
I am such a fossil I still don't know what an MP3 is or does though I have seen them in stores. In fact, I saw one just last night at Office Depot when I bought a 4 Port USB hub.
When I was five years old watching skiers on TV, the announcer kept saying, "Another record is broken" I kept studying the details of the picture looking for a guy snapping a vinyl disc over his knee and wondering how I missed it or why they wouldn't show it.
It's grand to see tyrants get together and speak of their love and caring for the lesser mortals, and sharing their plans for putting the thumbscrews to them.
Coerce smarter, not harder.
AJ, it's just a computer music file, a form of compression. It sometimes get corrupted as any computer file. MP4 is compressed video and music file.
Blather has always been the most renewable of resources.
The current Plan (with capital P):
1. US borrows $100B from China.
2. US pays $100B to little countries that yell the loudest.
3. Global Warming (with capital W) is prevented.
That's it?
Great. Let's just give them the money, stiff China and move on to the health care debacle.
The Chinese walk out, and the president does two things he does so well; he makes an empty threat to people to do his bidding or else, and he threatens to spend other people's money:
'Obama warned delegates that U.S. offers of funding for poor nations would remain on the table “if and only if” developing nations, including China, agreed to international monitoring of their greenhouse gas emissions.'
Say what you will about the Chinese, but they know its there money he is putting on the table. Nice to see they and the Indians have not had their collective IQ's suddenly drop while in Copenhagen.
Folks still talk about "taping" a TV show on their DVR.
Bissage:
I have plenty of blather- is there a commodity market where I can sell some?
wv = zatio = Paddy O's Zimbabwean cousin
Robert Mugabe. Didn't he invent death panels?
Environmentalism is becoming synonymous with Socialism via anti-capitalism.
So, now they're proposing a hundred billion dollar per year global slush fund administered by those stalwarts of integrity at the UN and directed toward third world dictators. What could go wrong?
Who wants to bet gigantic chunks of it are redirected back to left wing organizations, politicans and unions?
Who else wants to bet that not a fucking penny of it will actually go toward reducing carbon emissions?
1.The time for talk is over... however the time for sermons lectures and posturing continues...
2. This is unfortunate for Obama since talking is his forte.
3. the time for saying, "the time for talk is over", is over
4. If the time for talk is over, will you please shut up?
"Why is that incompetent tyrants like Mugabe and Chavez can even show their faces at something like this?"
They can be relied on to rail against the United States and other Western nations?
Because, honestly, that's a fascinating question and it's one that suggests the follow on question of "And why should we listen to anything at all about anything at all that anyone says who invites and welcomes these murderous hacks to something they are involved in?"
Right there folks, we've got another good reason to discount the science.
Mugabe destroyed and starved an entire nation. Chavez is starting on a similar path, wrecking his own nation's economy and revoking rights to expression and speech, stealing land, and vilifying those who are productive.
And the same people who are telling US that they can be relied on to address issues seriously, to be dispassionately honest about the *science*, rational, logical, and all that... invite freaking MUGABE to talk about economics?
OH. MY. GAWD.
Who was it just last week.... last week Althouse linked to the guy... who said that the deniers MUST NOT BE ALLOWED to portray climate change as a conspiracy to destroy capitalism in favor of leftist policies. That making that sort of charge was illegitimate and fringe craziness.
And hey, I sympathize Garage. Mugabe doesn't = Liberals. But at what point do we expect the liberals to speak up against the extreme destructiveness of similar redistributionist economic policies?
Did liberals learn a lesson from Mugabe that they will apply to someone like Chavez?
Will they defend freedom of speech and expression in Venezuela? They have not. Will they cry an alarm that Chavez is taking his country down a well-known path of economic destruction and human sorrow? They have not.
YOU VOTED FOR HIM.
SHEESH,
I can't top Robert Mugabe lecturing the world on the damage done to his country by "progress."
So, since others already brought up DVR's and tape & MP3's:
I sometimes think it would be nice to have a VCR that could record digitial video, directly. Not a DVD recorder, or a DVR, but just a good old cassette. You didn't have to hold the cassette carefully to avoid scratching it. It was analog, so even if the tape got a little wrinkled, it generally would still play. And with VHS you can still take a tape that's been on the shelf for years and it will play fine. I know a DVD-R can do the same thing, but forever more you have to worry if the disc will get a scratch and just not play.

He's saying, "The time for talk is over." Ironically, he's talking.
I would love, just once, to see the person uttering that line immediately stop spechifiying and leave the stage.
Obama will do as well in Copenhagen as he did bringing home the olympic bacon for chicago--one wonders why Obama would even want to share a platform with Chavez and Mugabe--sir: have you no sense of decency?
Someone needs to go back through history, at least the history of the post-colonial era, and compile a table of "Excuses the kleptocrats and their enablers have used to shake down Western democracies for baksheesh."
I'm sure it's a long and storied list.
Let me be clear, we are the ones we've been waiting for who will slow the rise of the oceans that resulted from the prior administration.
Who could've imagined that the US, led by an African American president, would be about to step over a precipice and achieve history.
The time for talk is over and should we fail to clean up the mess I inherited then the US will be bankrupt.
"Talk" in the phrase "the time for talk is over" is a euphemism for "disagreement with me." The plain truth doesn't poll as well.
When Obama days "The time for talk is over."
What he means is that the time for ANYONE ELSE to talk is over, and that he is just warming up for a session of hectoring America on its sins. And then outsourcing to SanFranNan and Dingy Harry the work of legislating away those sins, using a giant power washer that sprays cash.
They gave Mugabe a platform? Whatever for?
With the UN and similar, it was always thus. Around 35 years ago Idi Amin Dada (the literal butcher of Uganda) gave a speech at the UN in which, among other things, he stated that he wanted to erect a statue to Hitler, as Germany wouldn't do it. He got a standing ovation. It's been downhill ever since.
Frankly, it is embarassing to have our government officials like the Sec. of State give legitimacy to this blatant extortion by guilt. No "Third World" nation has ever had its status and condition raised by giving it tons of money, and Lord knows we've tried over and over again. The only demonstrated effective means to do so is capitalism, open markets and trade. Unfortunately, once this happens it is usually difficult for a repressive government to maintain the same degree of control (n.b. Hong Kong).
I vascilate between believing if HRC and her idealogical comrades are blindly stupid or criminally complicit when it comes to support of totalitarian regimes around the globe.
Hillary's soundbite that "we will give $100 Billion away" is now filed safely away for use by her future political opponents.
I can here it now "What were you thinking Sec. Clinton when you promised to waste taxpayer billions on junk science?"
What's another $100 billion? Nothing, nothing at all with this administration. She could have promised them $500 billion if it hadn't been for that dirty Bush who went over budget by the tune of $450 billion.
We are watching Empires on the move. The climate change agenda is a tool for a European Empire centered on a socialist planned economy. That threatens Chinese Empire who have sent Mugabe to challenge that plan. The Russian Empire under Czar Putin wants to scew it up until he can take hegemony over Europe and then be in a position to destroy China before China destroys him. The odd man out are the rude and crude Colonials in North America. To get some piece of the action Obama is shopping us to the highest bidder for cash, also called the Chicago way. It is like watching the American War for Independence progress if General G. Washington had been replaced by General B. Arnold.
Bobby Mugabe is another one of Jimmy Carter's monsters. He took the breadbasket of Southern Africa and turned it into Auschwitz.
AJ Lynch said...

Just like Chatty Cathy.
The time for spending money we don't have is over.
Bobby Mugabe is another one of Jimmy Carter's monsters. He took the breadbasket of Southern Africa and turned it into Auschwitz.
But not instantly. At first, things went along OK. Then the "land reform" began. Where "land reform" was "random guys taking over productive farms and destroying them."
It would be interesting to ask older black Zimbabweans: do you prefer the situation in 2009, or as it was in the mid-70s, when the nation was called Rhodesia and Ian Smith was prime minister?
This perfectly demonstrates the folly, even evil, that is the U.N.. That men like these would be addressing the world, when their debased nature and failure as leaders would otherwise leave them with the muffled voice they have earned.
The beaten down people of their own countries are forced to respect them, but the rest of the world chooses too.
The U.N. is a dysfunctional and evil body that, like NAMBLA is an organization that supplies support and respectability for the worst in humankind. It should be resected from any decent nation, if that's what we are. Are we? Demolish that building like the nest of hornets that it is.
if Mugabe is on your side, that means you're on the same side as Mugabe
Bush would not have given these shake-down artists the sweat from his brow.
I miss Bush.

We're talking climate data storage, right?
"Mugabe doesn't = Liberals"
True, but he got a hell of a lot of support from liberals. Those who objected, pointing out his ideology and bloody record, were labeled with the usual slurs, such as racist, apartheid supporter, etc.
If a drop of sweat were to break out on Obama's brow, there would be pandemonium as members of the press corps battled for the honor of wiping it off and preserving it as a relic.
wv stsmoca: Boston slang for B. Obama
"Why is that incompetent tyrants like Mugabe and Chavez can even show their faces at something like this?"
Because inside each Leftist asshole is a raging ID, wishing it had the courage to live the dream the way Chavez and Mugabe are.
wv: jitabo - Latest Obamba inspired dance craze?
BTW - in what year, will the phrase "sounds like a broken record" become a language artifact and have no meaning to the average person?
Apparently old-style record albums and the turntables to play them are making something of a comeback. New records are even being pressed.
"The time for talk is over."
=
"Shut up", he explained.
I would love to see some photographs of Barry Obama and Bobby Mugabe sharing the stage.
The Fake Science is settled so the time for talk is over says Barry Soetero Obama. Now the only question that Obama says arises is "your money or your life?" The reply needs to be Jack benny's line, " We are thinking about it Barry, and a facebook posting seems to be coming up right now".
This "time for talk is over" thing Obama has is really grating. He did that on health care too.
It comes across as "Now that I have spoken, there's nothing left to say and you people should start doing what I want you to do."
They say they are green because they are too yellow to admit they are red.
@Reliapundit, yes, the Professor voted for Obama. She's allowed to repent.
Meanwhile I still haven't gotten around to mounting my "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" bumper sticker. The time's coming.
"Meanwhile I still haven't gotten around to mounting my "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" bumper sticker."
Hey, I saw one of those this morning.
On a car!
Hillary Clinton Pledges $100B for Developing Countries
re: precipice,
USA
Hillary
It does appear that the President can little to bring about an agreement--looks like this foreign policy stuff looked easier when he was candidate obama. Maybe he should have bowed to the Chinese dude rather the the emperor.
In a sense, Robert Mugabe is a Greenie liberals dream leader.
First he shows the evil white oppressors and their excessively Westernized and too educated black allies in Zimbabwe whats what!
He shows other leaders that if they know what is right, there is no need to listen to the ignorant "wishes of the people". He used guns to subjugate, more enlightened Western nations use Eurocrats or Leftist lawyers or EPA minions or Wall Street fatcats to properly order and direct their masses.
(Extra points if you tell the masses they must love and obey the new EU Constitution, America's "Sacred Parchment", and various lawyers dressed in robes that win their diktats and decrees over the lowly proles in 5-4 votes - without question.)
Then he dramatically transforms Zimbabwe into a global model of low carbon use!
Now his people munch on free wheat and meat from evil excess carbon using nations like the US, Ukraine, Australia and Canada. Further lowering their carbon use in a sustainable fashion...sustainable that is, if guilty white liberal Greenies keep the free stuff coming.
And now he demands and gets pledges for more loot from guilty whites like Hillary to compensate for all the evil carbon burning nations...like the prosperous breadbasket of Africa his own former nation of Rhodesia - used to be.
Mugabe! What's not to like about this guy if you are one of the people flitting into Copenhagen on a Gov't Elite...or private jet...to lecture the world on its shortcomings!!
Mugabe's remark is as absurd as if Eichmann had complained about the gas bill in Poland.
@Synova, I saw one on a car's bumper yesterday. It had "and Palin" printed diagonally across McCain's name. Very cool. I can readily imagine the limousine liberals and the looser liberals frothing at the mouth when they see it.
That vision makes my heart sing with joy.
It had "and Palin" printed diagonally across McCain's name.
Had McCain been elected, based on how his team ended up feeling about Palin, she would have received much international experience - as McCain limited her official role to attending funerals for Ecuadoran vice ministers.
Unofficially, for her domestic duties, I imagine VP Palin would have been sicc'd on Fundieland as a fundraiser - and to take heat for McCains wanting to adopt tax and trade and Immigration Amnesty - along with his Dear Friends in the Senate.
But how much of that emerging bad feeling is due to the fact that McCain *didn't* win?
And she apparently had some sort of gentleman's agreement with McCain to be active in energy policy areas and also to advocate for the mentally disabled. That's what she *wanted* to spend her time on.
That's not to say that Palin wouldn't have excelled at diplomatic funerals.
Somehow garage thinks that conservatives are being hysterical and it will cost them in 2010. That's the bottom line right garage? You think that the Dems are not doing anything to cost themselves, that it's just hysterical cons?
Obama dreams of having the power of Mugabe. Then Obama could finally fulfill Jeremiah Wright's dreams of putting the screws to whitey.
Mugabe's Zimbabwe
Sarah Palin at a funeral
don't you just want to hug and hold on???
John Lynch said, Funny how environmentalism shades into socialism over time.
You'd almost think that green was a tactic, not the final goal...
