I love my wife.

I'm sure it was good, but it would sound more appetizing if it was called fried oatmeal.

Whatever McFreakinDonald's has this morning.

wv: previa -- wasn't that a car or something?

knox म्हणाले...

Bob Evans has really good fried mush.

dbp म्हणाले...

We had scrambled eggs, toast, link sausage, cider doughnuts, orange slices and coffee.

Photog714 म्हणाले...

The real question is, Did you make the mush yourself? Or is it store-bought?

Tyrone Slothrop म्हणाले...

A cool-water biscuit, and a Sunday-go-to-meeting bun. Bow bow bow.

I had a hot Cuban sandwich from this wonderful stall at the farmer's market.

They've got lots of ethnic food there. You can eat Cuban, Jamaican, French, Thai, Gangster (the local gang literally has a stall there selling breakfast food), Cajun, Greek; they even sell knishes.

Bob_R म्हणाले...

Are you allowed to call it fired polenta if you pay extra?

Peren म्हणाले...

I'm digesting all the buffalo chicken I shouldn't have eaten last night.

Jay Vogt म्हणाले...

Ralston here this morning with cut up dates.

Thanks for asking.

Meade is cooking for you, isn't he?

My wife's mother came from West Virginia and she has first cousins from southern TN, so she grew up with that stuff to a certain degree.

Fried rice with leftover rice from last nights dinner.

Rice, chopped and fried bacon, fried and chopped eggs, green onions, mushrooms, peas and shredded carrots. And of course soy sauce.

I love fried mush. Try some scrapple. YUMMY

Ask Meade, I bet he knows what that is.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Fried mush is pretty much polenta, right?

I had a big breakfast too. Off to the Met opera at the movies and need fortification for the 3-hour presentation.

"Ask Meade, I bet he knows what that is."

We had scrapple all the time in my family when I was growing up. My father's family was thoroughly Pennsylvania Dutch.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

Scrapple and pork roll. Mmmm.

But this morning, I had oatmeal.

HT म्हणाले...

Scrapple. O my God, what an abomination!

Sorry - I never heard it till I came to DC and had to avert my eyes whenever I saw it by accident at the market.

Jason - where do you live??

French toast, eggs, grits, bacon - coffee/hotchoc mixture.

Refried beans.

i don t eat breakfast
i only dine in the evening
but i think i ll be having breakfast
for dinner as dad dropped a sausage
behind the stove and being in a
hurry didn t notice or care plus
tommy who s the kid whose computer
i use well he managed to drop his plate
on the floor when he was clearing
the dishes and a couple of large
pancake crumbs coated with real
vermont maple syrup scooted under
the stove yay
all that real maple syrup not to
mention the new england fall are a
couple of good reasons to live here
i m so inspired i think i ll write a poem

stopping by crumbs on a quiet evening

whose crumbs these are i think i know
his room is where i often go
he will not see me stopping here
to watch his crumbs with fungus grow

my cockroach friend must think it queer
to stop without escape route near
between old crumbs and bits of cake
the longest evening of the year

he gives his antennae tips a shake
to ask if there is some mistake
the only other sound s the bleep
of tommy s games he s still awake

the crumbs are syrup coated deep
but i have promises to keep
and meters to go before i sleep
and meters to go before i sleep

Banana Nut Cheerios, an actual banana (is that banana overkill*?), an apple-cinnamon NutriGrain bar, white grape/cherry juice, and coffee. (Yes, that's a big breakfast, but I won't be eating lunch until after my 1:00 gig, which is the first of two that I'll be playing today.)

*The Dave Barry fans on this thread might agree that Banana Overkill WBAGNFARB.

wv: holoatom. A very small hologram?

Kev म्हणाले...

@blogging cockroach: Vermont maple syrup is divine! I stock up at Dakin Farm whenever I'm up there, and I really need to try the mail-order thing from them.

wv: stroute (state route?)

I had bacon, eggs, and fried polenta for dinner last night so I'm over that and this morning I just now finished butternut squash cookies, dehydrated style directly from the oven, and now I'm thinking butternut squash cookies made the regular way with flour would be great too.

Bacon -- really good applewood smoked bacon from Trader Joe's, homemade pancakes with a ton of butter in the batter, oj and coffee.

My daughter had a sleepover last night and I had third shift breakfast. First shift was the 6 girls, second shift my 2 boys, third shift my husband and I, while puttering around cleaning up. Normally I don't eat the pancakes, etc that I make for the kids but this morning I had no ambition to make something less decadent for myself.

Scrapple rules. The closest we have to it in the South is livermush, a NC variation, I believe.

Iapetus,
I had a memorable breakfast once just like yours but in Lahaina. Yum.

kentuckyliz म्हणाले...

And now dinner: hot British tea again, I pee a lot. My pee is always very light in color. That is good.

(end Titus moment)

and three egg rolls...also some spicy Indian food and Moroccan chicken with rice

leftover from our international food day on campus the other day

I cooked the Caribbean pork with mango, the Moroccan chicken with olives and apricots, the Tikka Masala chicken and the Tamarind Coconut Curry chicken and the Kung Pao chicken.

Campus is going to stink like spices for weeks.

Getting rural students to have an adventurous palate is a good thing.

I don't think people in Wis-CAN-sin should be mocking Southern accents.

Yes... Now for dinner.

Roasted 30 clove garlic chicken seasoned with olive oil, pepper, basil and sea salt. Roasted acorn squash: butter honey salt and pepper. Romaine salad with blue cheese dressing. French bread and butter.

Apple cake for dessert.

I made a cake this morning from some of the 50 pounds of apples that our trees bestowed upon us this year. We just got back from taking pieces of cake to our elderly widowed/widower friends who don't cook for themselves much anymore and don't get out and about as much as they used to do. We had a sociable cocktail at each house with each of them.

We "all" look forward to this activity :-D
