At the Autumn Salad Café...

... we're serving a large helping of leaves. But don't leave. Stay. Rustle up some conversation.

Sorry but I have to 'leaf' for the World Series Game. Go Phils!

Big Mike म्हणाले...

Better clean those leaves off before they leave indelible stains.

Unknown म्हणाले...

The leaves are so beautiful on the trees, especially if the sun is shining and the sky is blue.

On the ground, the heavens overcast, they're so sad...

Meade said...

If I fell in love with fall...

No, compadre, you did much better...

Good luck, Scott.

What? The Beatles played at the Indiana State Fair?

Was this during the same trip when they landed at Midway? Dad took us to watch the plane's arrival. I was six years old.

Fall comes, the leaves fall.

Meade, I can't believe would fall for all the crap in this song.

Jason (the commenter) म्हणाले...

Who'd have thought they could write an antidote to love songs?

Good day fellow republicans.

Salem was fab. The hotel was divine. Special beds/treats for the rare clumbers was a nice added touch. The weather was stunning-70 degrees, can't beat that.

Went to a Seance.

Went out for Indian...Food and I really enjoyed it. Loved the Roti bread with yogurt. Salad was chickpeas, fava beans, sprouts and tomatoes and I really dug it.

Sex was great. He came for times, twice on my chest and twice on my face. I did not cum.

Rented the movie Orphan which I loved.

Now I am totally excited about the Green Bay/Minnesota game in Green Bay. I hope Favre beats the shit out of them today.

Mom and Dad said the leaves have blown, I said blown, so much that it was up to their knees in some places at our compound.

Oh and totally love Frank Rich, natch

My tiki tiki masala tiki tiki vandaloo nanny wanny with yogurt was sublime. Mung Sprout salad was one for the books.

I've been loading albums into iTunes and it looks like fall in my bedroom right now, with CD's taking the place of leaves. I can understand why people pirate music off the internet. Makes things much more transportable.

I've been at this for a few days and I've got almost two thousand songs on my computer. I also have a computer that I am definitely not going to upgrade. Who would want to go through all of that again?

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

Jason, you don't go through all that again. Back up before upgrade including iTunes then transfer iTunes content after upgrade.

Scott म्हणाले...

@edutcher: Thanks very much. I hope they decide soon. But it's for Fall 2010, so they may take their time.

I so need a career where I help people and don't spend all day in front of a computer!

Unknown म्हणाले...

You may still spend a good bit of time staring at a monitor (my wife, the nurse, comes home complaining about that, as well), but, if you feel you are doing some good, then you'll feel the time spent will be worth it.

As far as 2010, I notice a lot of applications take for ever. One of my wife's nephews (her favorite, don't tell anybody) is applying to the Coast Guard Academy and they want the material as far in advance as possible.

There's almost two hundred albums. How many DVD's would that take to back up? This computer is staying Windows XP forever.

There are moments when we realize, every one of us, that we are as the leaves. Luckily those moments fade quickly. And not only luckily. It is necessary that we forget our insignificance and get back to the importance of being us, each last one of us. For without ego...collapse.

For times of what? That oh so holy male on male graveyard sex?

JAL म्हणाले...

Well hubby and I did something very cool last night.

We met the return plane of WW II vets who had flown up to DC for the day to visit the WW II Memorial. It's a thing called Honor Air Flight -- now a combination of two groups whose goal it is to provide a way for the aging WW II veterans to see the DC Memorial and experience the recognition we finally have given them as a nation.

Honor Flight

Honor Air

The Asheville airport had a couple hundred people waiting -- some relatives, other veterans, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Jr. CAP, an honor guard, a group of motorcyclists, and people like ourselves, all complete with flags and even a brass band.

The plane was delayed leaving DC and many the crowd waited another 2 hours, or left and came back.

There were 2 lines for the them to walk through as they came into the terminal and there was clapping, cheers, music, and tears.

One granddaughter pushing her grandfather in his wheelchair had tears pouring down her face.

Many of the veterans saluted the crowd as they came thorugh. One gentleman walked through and every few paces stopped, and facing the Boy Scouts with their large flags, saluted them, tears on his face.

One fellow still fit in his uniform and walked out in his dress blues.

It was something else. And very memorable for the honorees and those of us who thank them.

Seriously -- if it were not for the USA and Britain -- for these men and women of the 1940s -- what kind of a world would we be living in today?

So that's what we did on a rainy fall night with wet leaves plastering the road and the sidewalks, the last day of October, 2009.

JAL म्हणाले...

Jason -- buy an external hard drive (or two or three -- they are cheap) and make 2 or 3 backups!

(You connect with a USB cord, click the buttons, and go away.)

We enjoyed a rainy day Saturday reading, followed by a cool, sunny Sunday hiking trails in the Smokies with the leaves gently falling on our heads. The book that I picked up Saturday was full priced and in hardback from the Highlands,NC Cyrano's bookshop was read in one sitting. It is a must read for all current Afghan War Hawks with open minds: "The Unforgiving Minute" by Craig Mullaney.

Jason, I'd recommend keeping your iTunes library on an external HD, don't forget to change your library locations, I think under edit preferences.

I need to do that as well. I have almost 6000 songs (nearly 26 days of music) on my computer, and it's starting to run slooooooowly.

JAL म्हणाले...

Believe it or not I do realize the Canadians and Australians and New Zealanders and whoever else were fighting.
