I thought she was dying.

How terribly inconvenient for poor John.

She's a serial nagger, odds are.

Go for it Liz, ironically the venom of the battle may buy you five years.

Her having cancer, and was about to die shortly, was an opportunity to gather that sympathy vote. She'll be around for a long time.

If he has to pay alimony, she will live forever. Even with cancer. At least that is how it is working in my circumstance.

I am unwilling -- delicious as it is -- to savor a story from the National Enquirer.

I wish Elizabeth Edwards a peaceful life. Even though I suspect she is the brains behind Edwards' Political life, and I don't consider that a point in her favot, I wish her peace.

I never understood how anyone could look at Edward's and not see a deceitful, dishonest person. Even before this all came out it was obvious as hell. I'd look at his supporters and think, "your judgement really sucks".

Not sure why. Maybe it was the super rich injury lawyer pedalling the Two Americas line that got me.

I hope Elizabeth can take him for every penny (wishful thinking, I know).

Original Mike: Yes. Edwards came across as gross from Day 1.

I can't get the link to open, so I'm not sure what Edwards remark means in context. If it means "I had an affair because I thought she was dying," one can only be shocked, not so much at his callous selfishness, but for thinking this somehow justifies or mitigates his infidelity. If this is what he's saying, it makes him appear both more stupid and more of a creep than was already evident.

Hmmm ...

The story makes it seem like Elizabeth Edwards is extorting money from John Edwards (by threatening divorce proceedings in which she'll reveal all of his sexual picadillos).

Didn't a CBS News employee just get arrested for that?

Why doensn't John have Elizabeth arrested, I wonder?

It's a sad, tawdry tale. I wish her well in life.

To think that there are still Kerry:Edwards bumper stickers out there.

Ick.

If the professor's gonna link to supermarket tabloids, she should at least give us a heads-up.

Yet without the National Enquirer, the MSM, that knew, would have covered the whole thing up from start to perhaps Obama Cabinet member John Edwards and poor, suffering Elisabeth ensconced in Washington as the new AG and his "powerful, intelligent, main advisor"....

Unless a blogger got through the cover-up.

Savor that.

The Enquirer tends to be right, especially about John Edwards.

I wonder if she's worried that part of their money will eventually pass to John Edward's illegitimate children? Maybe there's more than one?

Pretty dim on ya', eh, mate? She is the aggrieved party here. I hope she reduces his a$$ to living at the YMCA. His slovenly morals deserve all the he!! she can unleash on him.

This response to Elizabeth's cancer reoccurance is a classical Narcisist act when their Supply is threatened. He needed another person to put on his act for when the prospect of losing Elizabeth's supply would seem like a death to himself. The wife was never seen by Edwards as a person with feelings and needs, but all issues were soley about how they affected John Edwards. The man is sick, and his wife has known that for all the years that she has tended to his needs and not her own. So she can go on with her pretenses for his benefit since its like a familiar way to live to her. But John Edwards is trapped until Elizabeth agrees to die. The story about his aid de camp giving John the same subservience as Elizabeth, and also getting thrown out with the trash when John was thru with him is very revealing. Elizabeth felt herself supplanted more by him than by the Hunter who gave John so much less sacrificial servanhood than either Elizabeth or the aid gave John in order to manipulate him into providing the money/status they thought John Edwards was giving to them...but John always had a "Take Away"scheme planned for them as soon as he could do it without revealing to the world that Edward's STORY about himself and the Country was always a sham. A narcissist can fool a Jury for a few days or weeks, because he is a theatrical genius; but he can never give himself to another person because there is no self there to give.

There is nothing very sypathetic about Elisabeth Edwards. She lied repeatedly to media, she lied at campaign rallies, and at meetings with dedicated supporters - about her health, Edward's dalliances, and campaign finance sleaze in which she is deeper involved than even Edwards. After the scandal broke, she came out with a woman-catnip oriented book on just how hard it is to be "poor, brave, suffering" Elisabeth....

Naw, you have to be a "special sort" of woman to have lived with "Silky" Edwards all these years..and I don't mean that as a positive, but in the Ruth Madoff sense.

John and Elisabeth - two peas in a pod.

FLS -- The Enquirer broke the story and has owned it from Day One. Sorry truth is beneath you.

former law student म्हणाले...

Sorry truth is beneath you.

Truth comes in strange, and not universally appreciated, packages: "The Enquirer? What are you looking at that for?

अनामित म्हणाले...

FLS -- Listen, man, they broke the story. They followed Edwards around. They did what respectable media would not do. For ensuring that Edwards would never be taken seriously as a politician again, that rag deserves our everlasting praise.

blake म्हणाले...

I hate the freaking Enquirer.

But, FLS, are you saying:

1. He didn't have an affair with Rielle?

2. He didn't sire a child by her?

3. This would've gotten exposure from a big outlet otherwise?

'cause, right now, the horrible, awful, lying Enquirer is showing the MSM up.

former law student म्हणाले...

No, I'm saying having the Enquirer masthead pop up in my browser is akin to being Not Safe for Work. You have to explain why you're looking at such a thing, and you have to accept some tsk-tsking.

blake म्हणाले...

You just say, "Beeyotch! I was checking to see the latest on Kirstie Alley! Now getda fock outtahere!"

Tsk-tsking, my ass.

careen म्हणाले...

What a child he is. Not an accident that both Rielle and Elizabeth look older than he does - even tho she's 10 years younger. He went running for a new mommy.

EnigmatiCore म्हणाले...

Other than the Edwards' camp saying so, is there any real evidence that Elizabeth Edwards is really battling stage 4 breast cancer?

I knew someone who tried to get attention and sympathy by claiming to have leukemia.

Based on some of the other nuttiness we have seen from that camp, including pretending John's kid is his aide's kid, I take nothing from them at face value.
