When I saw the "stupid" tag I just knew it had to have happened in Florida. You could probably have an entire blog devoted to stupid things that happen here.
My brother-in-law was in the fire department in a small SE Minnesota town, so we heard lots of stories like this.
1. A couple called 911 when they got stuck, folded up in a fold-out couch, after seeing it done on Letterman (Stupid Human Tricks, natch). Yes, of course they were naked.
2. A 16 year old boy walked into a street sign and suffered a minor cut on his forehead. He walked 6 blocks to report it to the police.
But rhhardin is correct, it's the end-result of fostered dependency, and it ain't pretty. You should see what brings people to the ER at 3 a.m.
We've our proportionate share of stupid people (apparently growing as a reliably Republican state when 50/50 last election). We certainly have zany and madcap individuals to entertain us.
But how can one not love a state where the aquarium holds a fund-raiser and serves sushi to the guests?

Feeeed me!
Should have contacted, ya know,
1600.... brothers keepers, spreadin' the wealth, cash for clunkers and all.
It's a consequence of the dependency line in politics, however.
I don't think the stupid are to blame for it.
If the powerless feel something is wrong, they call the authorities to fix it.
It's in HR3200 - he's just jumping the gun. Obama will explain the new, enhanced 911 service on Wednesday nite.
We need hunger insurance.
We need it NOW!
It is a crisis.
Too many hungry people are uninsured.
Please don't be too hard on Mr. Dewer.
His phone call was merely a lonely cry for help.
And fries.
I'm thirsty - call the National Guard!!

It's unfortunately the entitlementality, where we think the government should take care of us.
Far cry from the Founding Fathers (who could be real mothers, too) who feared the reach of government & did their best to limit it and starve it.
WV: expead, former bed-wetter
Wanna bet that he was stoned with the munchies as well as drunk with the stupids?
I see this is all an outgrowth of a larger domestic policy initiative, promoted through the 8:45AM Call, intended to foster dependency.
It's called the "Domino's Theory."
The premise is we need a public option to keep Domino's competitive.
Does saying that make me a "Loon"?
Hey, Jason, this Floridian says, "Bite Me!"
