That is one of the funniest things I have seen. I knew there was something fundamentally wrong with poodles. Yet I still want my own bison and horse poodle.
as the owner of two standard poodles and many others through out my life I can assure you that the blame for this lies with the owners. Poodles are great dogs. No other breed is smarter or more loyal
I thought that looked like fun... and for the poodles, too. Dogs love attention. Granted, those are trained to stay still and let themselves be fussed over but I don't think for a minute that they don't like it.
Animals have personalities. For every one (dog *or* cat) that tries to get the collar or little sweater *off* there is another one that will strut around to show off how pretty they are.
And I think there is a difference, if someone is worried about "dignity", between getting all fancied up for an *occasion* and dressing your dog up like a baby-doll for every day.
Nah, sorry. I have to say I'm with those who don't like this kind of thing. Like those calendars where the Weimaraner is dressed in different costumes.
I think the dogs probably enjoyed the attention. Poodle are attention hounds anyway.
But poodles can feel shame. Pay attention to one coming out of a bath and you'll see he's quite unhappy about the state of his appearance. Wet, they look like long-haired whippets, something to which no self-respecting poodle aspires.
I'm with the cranky medievalist. Dogs feel shame, and at least a couple of these dogs look miserable.
I thought I'd be helpful and get my dachshund a sweater for cold weather. He hated it, he hated me. He could that thing off in about 3 seconds flat. The next time I tried to put it on him he bit me. I think he considered it an assault on his dignity (in whatever abstract form dog thoughts take.)
I hope one of those camel poodles takes a bite out of a groomer someday. Poodles are hunting dogs. Let them be.

I could walk the panda down the street without much worry. Some of the others, though, would require that I live in SF.
If the dogs ever rise up to slaughter us all, poodles will lead the revolution.
It will be perfectly understandable.
Where the fuck is PETA when you need them?
Jesus...
It could be worse...

The buffalo was good.
Its widely known that poodles have no shame.

And yet, the owners' first mistake - having a poodle - is not even mentioned.

Man. That's just wrong to do to any dog.
Are you kidding--those are great things to do to poodles. What a versatile animal!

Jerry, you are absolutely right.
How cruel. These are standard poodles--real dogs and good ones--not some foufou dropkick.

I'm currently Danteblogging (hey - I'm a medievalist). I'm think these groomers belong in the 7th circle, with the sins against nature.

None of those dogs looked happy to me.

Can you say "anthropomorphism?"
I knew you could.
If the dogs ever rise up to slaughter us all, poodles will lead the revolution.
And here is the fearless guy to lead them!
Liberté, égalité, fraternité, poodle-pouvoir
Is this somehow related to the "Tap-tap-tapping at your chamber door" post? "Don't do that to your poodle!"
Extreme poodle grooming - another euphemism for autoerotic activity?
"I think the dogs probably enjoyed the attention. Poodle are attention hounds anyway."
I see what you did there.
