The NYT is running pictures of dogs, sent in by readers.

At first I thought this was a really lame manifestation of the newspaper's slide into mediocrity, but... oh, the doggies are cute... I mean, the presentation is clever and elegant.

Are there any rare clumber spaniels in the pictures?

Dogs noticing news would be a decent format.

The advantage of dogs is that they're not impressed by uniforms and social position.

They know neighborhoods.

Be slow to believe things a dog would be slow to believe.

Thurber used them as sources of intelligence and repose in his cartoons, he said.

@MM

Searched. No clumbers, rare or otherwise

I doubt they could find many photos of readers sent in by dogs.

Some viewers progress methodically through the various matrices of doggie photos while others skip about randomly.

This needed to be said.

Well Titus, here's your chance.

That was a clever layout!
Maybe I'll send a photo of mine in. MAYBE!

Triangle Man, thank you for your service :). I gave up looking. I don't like that layout at all for finding specific dogs.

But then I need bifocals and can't really see the tiny images.

Competing with cute overload? That's a losing proposition.

The NYT is trying to compete with Blogs now.

Damnit, now I really miss my dogs. Only 5 weeks to go.

The most poignant are the rescue dogs, dogs found on the streets abandoned..... puppy who wouldn't bark with kicked in teeth......

But then I need bifocals and can't really see the tiny images.

You can click on image to enlarge and 'next''previous' to slide.

The rare clumbers will not be subjected to the media glare.

I am not a showbiz mom.

I am all about anonymity in my life as well as my rare clumbers.

You can't even google me, there is nothing.

Privacy is something that is poorly lacking in this society.

I just pinched a rather satisfying loaf this morning.

This one was my favorite -- a poor Fox Terrier stuck with an owner who thinks it's interesting that she got her dog a few days before the Obamas got Bo.

And then there are the schmucks of the world.

You're right. They're adorable and the presentation is addictive. Most of them are looking into the camera with love for the person behind it, so they have soulful expressions.

amba म्हणाले...

The proper soundtrack would be "The look ... of love ... is in ... your eyes," which used to play on obscure NYC cable channels with advertisements for escort services.
