I miss Madison--the terrace, state street, even the law school. But NOT the blue green algae.

Yow! That second photo looked like The Sewage Way Galaxy!

Cowards!!

You could've at least gotten a snow-cone out of that water.

Richard Fagin म्हणाले...

Gee, what's it like to sit outside with an ice cream cone that won't melt in 30 seconds because its 100 degrees in the shade? You don't even want to think about being in the sun.

The original "Green" for us long time residents.

The local municipalities continue to treat our lakes as convenient storm sewers.

But, hey, don't tell us we aren't Green and Eco-conscious here!

At least Mendota was spared the raw sewage that used to be regularly dumped into Lake Monona for many years.

I would rather see the untold millions of dollars that are going to be wasted on lightly used commuter rail be directed to public works projects that will keep the run-off out of the lakes.

Few politicians here give a damn about the lakes.

Where's the giant seagull, or was that another lake?

I remember spending a fun moment eating an ice cream cone with a good friend on that terrace. Good times!

The only way to swim in Lake Mendota is off a boat in the middle. Too much gunk near the shore.

Your photo does a great job of illustrating the perfect weather today. So cool that I even wore long pants!

If you had skillz you would have been out boating. Take sailing lessons already.

I prefer terraces that don't scream "Terrace!"

Re: Rejected papers.

A co-worker once spend considerable time on a paper for a meteorological journal, reviewing it, and making copious suggestions to improve the content of the paper he was rejecting. He sent it back to the editor, and it was duly rejected.

Fast forward a year or so later, he is contacted by a mathematician on campus who has received the identical article for review -- without even the suggested changes -- for a math journal. It was pure chance that the mathematician contacted my co-worker; I wonder what would have happened if he had not?

It was rejected that time too.
