Me and Phil Specter on Twitter.

I just did 2 Instapundit posts about Twitter:
I TWEETED TWEETING. Twitter gets to your brain. In think it’s made me more Instapundit-y this go-round subbing for Glenn. Lord knows how he got so concise and spontaneous, pre-Twitter, but we’re all catching up.

“MUSICALLY, IKE WAS BY FAR THE GREATER OF THE TURNERS.”
Tweeted, by Phil Spector. Response #1: Nervy to say that — given Tina’s story of domestic abuse — when you’re in prison for shooting a woman to death. Response #2: If I knew I’d get a laptop and WiFi in prison, my calculation about whether to commit crimes would change radically.

Copied here to get things started and so you can comment.

ADDED: Phil Spector tweets here. You can see he's only following one person. It's Yoko Ono. Think about it.

AND: "Finished reading The Book Of The Damned. About to write an angry letter to the governer demanding that they return my wig."

UPDATE: The clever Tweeter confesses he's an impostor — and adds that Twitter should learn a lesson from this. Well, you can't expect Twitter to catch impostors the instant they start, and obviously, people are going to pose as various celebrities and near-celebrities. I've had impostors myself. The important thing is to react when it is called to their attention. For example, I've complained about impostors twice. Facebook responded. Sadly, No (a blog) insisted on keeping the impostors.

Ike Turner and his band, The Kings of Rhythm, recorded the first rock and roll song - "Rocket 88" - in 1951, long before he met Tina. It was recorded in the Sun Music studio in Memphis.

Here's a cover by Bill Haley, also recorded in 1951.

Obviously this is fake. I've seen several stories in the news, it even got in the Telegraph, but never does a reporter actually call the prison to confirm the story.

Hell, they even could have looked at the web page @philspector links to in his profile. Even IT doesn't even have a "Follow me on twitter" link!

And all the stories mysteriously decide to talk about the exact same tweets. They're plagiarizers and bad reporters.

The Dude म्हणाले...

Nonwirelessly, Telegraph is the older of the comm links.

Why didn't Phil Spector follow Yoko Ono earlier?
And shoot her instead.

Anybody who knows music and music history (Michael Hasenstab) also knows Spector is right. What domestic violence has to do with it, I don't know. Or maybe I do, all too well.

Update: @philspector says he isn't real.

Duh.

This is totally fake. Prisons don't let convicted murderers tweet.

As far as what the faker said, Ike was fantasically talented. He blew most of his prime years hooked on dope. He was a great band leader. He discovered Bo Didley if I am not mistaken. His last record won a grammy for best traditional blues album. Better than Tina? Tina is a great singer and great performer. She is great in the hands of top flight song writers and producers

"Me and Phil Spector on Twitter" ? Yikes!! Howabout "Phil and I"?

Don't you remember your mom saying, "No, Anne, it's not "Me and Janie want ice cream', but "Janie and I"?

We're illiterate enough as a nation as it is--don't make it worse!
