I love these scribbly tattoos!

Much more — from Yann Travaille — here. (Warning: some clickable thumbnail-sized photos have naked breasts.)(Via Neatorama.)

Do these tattoos remind me of death? No, they remind me of taking delightful chances.

Flip the image L-R and they're legible.

So since you love them so much when you will be getting yours?

Ed म्हणाले...

I think it says "a lifetime of regret".

At the least these risk takers are only destroying themselves. Most public risk takers want to endanger others around them with their showing off. Mutilating yourself and marking your body as the property of others is only a rational activity if you hate yourself so bad that these risks seem small in light of your general worthlessness. Why not just do crazy hair styles. Those can grow back.

The style is Mad Magazine Spy vs Spy.

Held a mirror to image and made out:

'The discord of a forgotten sketch.'

Anyone else?

When I was that scrawny, I kept my shirt on in public, except at a pool or beach.

Looks like the scrawl on the men's bathroom stall in a bus station.
All it needs is "For a good time call Mel at 555-1212"

I kind of like these. They look happy, somehow. Happier than the usual skulls and dragons. My favorite was the girl who had gears and numbers on her lower back.

The best part is that I could do these myself with a couple of Bics, and they would wear off.

Why be impressed by a person wearing a tattoo? It's the artist who's interesting, not the canvas.

The only ones I've ever thought fitting were ones my friends got in prison or the military.

Death? How curious. Five year survival tats are becoming quite the thing for those who've been through cancer.

Ralph L म्हणाले...

Christy, one place I would not want a tattoo is around my Frankenstein melanoma scar, because it would hurt like hell, even after 18 years. However, I like the idea of mocking the scar.

It is yet another example of the lengths people will go to get noticed...accomplishing something worthwhile is not even on the radar anymore

Sad state of affairs...

Agree with Prairie Wind. I think they look cool, and I'd like them better if they weren't permanent.

Jennifer म्हणाले...

I love that the artist so clearly has a style and that so many of his clients go with it.

I wonder if that's common for talented tattoo artists.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Delightful?

What do you call it when you take a chance with no upside?

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Tattoos and bumper stickers have a lot in common, but it's the difference that keeps me from getting the tattoo.

That and my belief that they should only be to commemorate some profound event in your life. As soon as that happens, I'll get one.

I wonder if there's a coroner somewhere that does tattoos?

Penny म्हणाले...

Frankly, I think we could do with a lot less "ink" these days.

What do tattoos and laws have in common?

Let us count the ways....

Hey, you like tattoos? Want to see some real tattoos? Look here.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

I don't particularly "real" tattoos. What I liked about the Yann Travaille tattoos is that they are based on line drawings. They don't have a lot of colored-in areas and painting-like forms. I like the airy openness that leaves plenty of healthy looking skin.

cap vandal म्हणाले...

Me too.

These are remarkably interesting. Abstract.

Most are so damn literal.

I'd love to see this in the NBA.
