Hannity interviews Limbaugh.

The transcript.

Here's the part about Sotomayor:
And I got a little grief from people for saying that there's no such thing as reverse racism, just call her a racist, so - and they're right. That ["wise Latina" remark] is a racist thing to say and it's bigoted. And she would bring, no question about it, racism and bigotry to the court, if she is confirmed.

But, Sean, I've been thinking about this, and there's something else going on with Sonia Sotomayor. We don't know what she thinks about Roe versus Wade. She hasn't said. Now we know that she's Catholic. We know that she's Puerto Rican - Hispanic Catholic. They tend to be devout.

She has no record. She hasn't said much about it. If, and I'm speaking for me personally, if I learned, if I could be assured, that she is actually a pro-life person and does think that Roe versus Wade is bad constitutional law, and if she would rule on the right side on the life issue, I might look past this racism and even deal with that, but that's something very, very important to me, and she could be stealth in that regard.

And I know that - well, there's no record. Normally most liberals, they love to tell you how pro-choice they are and abortion. She doesn't have any of that.

Ken Pidcock म्हणाले...

I am certain that Sonia Sotomayor, learning that Rush Limbaugh stands ready to forgive her racism, weeps with gratitude.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

Life is sacred to Rush, and a cue to tune back in in a couple of weeks when he gets past it and back to sending up liberals.

garage mahal म्हणाले...

Holy echo chamber.

Roost on the Moon म्हणाले...

I like how he goes straight from allegations of racism and bigotry into discussing the "tendencies" of hispanics.

hombre म्हणाले...

What's to discuss here?

This is like a liberal circle jerk, only smaller and financially successful.

hombre म्हणाले...

Oh, I take it back. Here's Roost trying unsuccessfully to distinguish between racism and cultural observations.

DaLawGiver म्हणाले...

Holy echo chamber.

Yes, but what does Sarah Palin think about Sotomayor?

अनामित म्हणाले...

SSdd is not Puerto Rican. She was born and raised in New York. She pretends to be Puerto Rican for the extra race card it gives her over being just another non-black American. SSdd also likes to play around in groups that seek to make Puerto Rico the 51st and most privileged state in the Union (58th for Obama). SSdd is as bad news for America as the guy who nominated her to be One-of-Nine. The Borg grows.

Invisible Man म्हणाले...

Oh, I take it back. Here's Roost trying unsuccessfully to distinguish between racism and cultural observations.
..
"Cultural observations" and Rush Limbaugh. Haha. Yes, we appreciate your nuanced translation of Rush-speak.

Robert Cook म्हणाले...

Hannity said, "...if I could be assured, that she is actually a pro-life person and does think that Roe versus Wade is bad constitutional law...."

Where's the correlation? She might be "pro-life" and still think that, as law, Roe V Wade is legitimate and properly grounded, or she might be "pro-choice" and still think it bad law.

Robert Cook म्हणाले...

Pardon me, it was Limbaugh, I believe, who was being quoted. It's so hard to tell these ignorant right-wing gasbags apart.

hombre म्हणाले...

Well evidently, Robert, Limbaugh prefers someone who is pro-life and thinks Roe misstates the Constitution.

Is it really that tough to get?

Jeremy म्हणाले...

Why is Ann so infatuated with Rush Limbaugh and why would anyone care what a radio talk show "entertainer" has to say about a potential Supreme Court Justice?

On a blog site run by a law professor no less, and with regular contributors who say they're attorneys.

If you are, God help your clients.

john म्हणाले...

Missed it. Did they talk about anything even remotely substantive, like Ricci?

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

The racist Rush Limbaugh has no standing to call anyone else a racist.

"The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is little hope invested in [Donovan] McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve."

Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

Limbaugh once told a black caller: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back."

It's an interesting question. Especially given Rush Limbaugh's record of sexism and misoygyny, er, misogy.. the way he bashes feminists and wimmins!

Swifty Quick म्हणाले...

Limbaugh is engaging in some reverse-psychologizing here. He wants the leftoid leftards out there to bite at the trolled bait set array that (1) Sotomayor is pro-life, (2) on the court she may might vote to overturn Roe v Wade, and (3) because of which he may well end up supporting her confirmation. All this neatly sews the seeds to undermine leftist support of her.

And the fact is, he's right, Sotomayor IS a wild card on the abortion issue.

rcocean म्हणाले...

"the racist Rush Limbaugh has no standing to call anyone else a racist."

That's funny coming from a redneck racist like yourself.

It's been awhile since I've seen the "you, a law professor," rhetoric in a comment thread.

To the merits of blogging the subject, Rush Limbaugh is the de facto voice of the Republican Party and Conservative political thought, due both to the size of his audience and the absence of legitimate, competing voices.

As a fellow conservative, and someone who was taught by the law professor running this blog, that doesn't mean that I accept the line of thinking he presents. I actually think it a shallow, instrumentalist approach to the nomination process; I have my own conserns about Judge Sotomayor, mainly based on the process in the Ricci case (which I have mentioned in other comment threads over the past few weeks).

That's the thing I don't think Liberals get about Rush's show; hearing his opinions on subjects forces you to question the bases for your own opinion. Even when I don't agree with him, that disagreement helps to define my own political vies.

John Stodder म्हणाले...

Zeb nails it. Rush is starting up "Operation Chaos: This Time It's a Lifetime Appointment."

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

I heard Rush on the car radio going to lunch, and he is carefully outlining Sotomayor's wild card status on Un-limited abortion. That is mature thinking. But can he undo the Racist accusation, or does he fear losing listeners who are now in a lynch mob mindset over the "Racial abuse" that WASPs have endured for the last 40 years? Stay tuned. It is hard to put the targeting of the Latino Race toothpaste back into the tube.

BJM म्हणाले...

Althouse deftly placed the gun in a drawer in an earlier post.

Although it's rather amusing to watch liberals/MSM froth over Rush's none to subtle ploy to force the Senate Dems to Bork their own nominee on choice.

Bruno-worthy political kabuki ahead!

Question: Does listening to left-wing assholes have the same salutary effect?

TitusisHornyFromWatchingLandscaper म्हणाले...

I just wish our leader wasn't fat and physically repulsive.

Can't we find someone cuter than Rush?

Let's picture him naked for a minute......I bet you can't see his hog when he is naked because is fat gut hides it. Therefore, in order to touch his hog you likely have to lift his fat gut. And what about his ass? What do you think that looks like? I am picturing an ass similar to a woman. Men with women asses is a cardinal sin.

You know Rush has put a rope around his hog.

isgzherb म्हणाले...

Hispanic and Catholic does not equal devout. Sorry, Rush.

As another commenter posted, SS is NY born and bread. At which point does an immigrant call him/herself an American? At what point do you "let go" of what makes you different and embrace become part of the melting pot?

DaLawGiver म्हणाले...

The racist Rush Limbaugh has no standing to call anyone else a racist.

Funny.

The racist Jesse Jackson has no standing to call anyone else a racist.

Jackson's hymietown comments are...oh, wait, he's Black and a Democrat, it's impossible for Jackson to be a racist.

Never mind.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Jesse also apologized for his hymietown comments, as well he should have.

Please, by all means, show us Rush apologizing for his many racist comments! !

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Meanwhile, back on the playground:

Zeb Quinn:

He wants the leftoid leftards...

Oh yeah? Well you're rightoid rightard. Nyah! Nyah!

Why don't you come back after puberty?

Doood. You are free to opt into or opt out of the class at your leisure. And you can always tell when you hit a nerve.

BJK म्हणाले...

Question: Does listening to left-wing assholes have the same salutary effect?

Not sure; answering that question implies that someone is out there listening to left-wing assholes....and I like to think that people know better.

Speaking as someone who has passed by the occasional lefty-talker on the radio, if only for the schadenfreude, it doesn't work the same way for me. The fundamental assumptions underlying the logic (when the host uses logic, rather than emotion or condescention) are not shared between the host and the listener.

To make an analogy, its the difference between using coarse- and fine- grit sandpaper; the coarse stuff can get you most of the way, but you really need the one with less contrast to do the detail work.
