"As I got older, though, our relationship bloomed into a full-on, making out in the hallway, going to prom love fest."
Ben Solochek tells us all about his relationship... with the Badgers.

I never got sports.
I was on some teams even, but you needed it to meet a phys ed requirement; that or a 3 times a week gym class.
I never cared who won.
For the next few years he's going to sleep with every cheap sports team that'll let him.
Once, he'll wake up after a wild night with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with a terrible headache and find his wallet and car keys missing.
After a few years, he'll find a nice simple pro basketball team like the Celtics and settle down.
But he'll never forget those first stolen kisses with the Badgers.
I wonder if the UW Foundation has asked him for money yet. He seems ripe for the plucking.
Wow. I had no idea Badger was such a cheap easy slut.
Hoosier always insists you first have a job, pick her up on time, come in and meet her folks. Then take her out to dinner and a movie.
Even after that, you count yourself lucky if she gives you a little hug and allows a chaste peck on the cheek.
I almost heard the band playing "Varsity".
Good job - writing that sort of piece is difficult.
In the general frame of "Homage" to a school,
an early 20th century essay by an alumnus referring to a distinguishing characteristic of The University of Virginia:
The Honor Men
by James Hay Jr.
The University of Virginia writes her highest degree on the souls of her sons. The parchment page of scholarship-the colored ribbon of a society-the jeweled emblem of a fraternity-the orange symbol of athletic prowess-all these, a year hence, will be at the best mementos of happy hours-like the withered flower a woman presses between the pages of a book for sentiment's sake.
But...
If you live a long, long time, and hold honesty of conscience above honesty of purse:
And turn aside without ostentation to aid the weak;
And treasure ideals more than raw ambition;
And track no man to his undeserved hurt;
And pursue no woman to her tears;
And love the beauty of noble music and mist-veiled mountains and blossoming valleys and great monuments-
If you live a long time and, keeping the faith in all these things hour by hour, still see that the sun gilds your path with real gold and that the moon floats in dream silver;
Then...
Remembering the purple shadows of the lawn, the majesty of the colonnades, and the dream of your youth, you may say in reverence and thankfulness:
"I have worn the honors of Honor, I graduated from Virginia"
I was recently reading about the Civil War Battle of Missionary Ridge outside Chattanooga, and discovered that "On Wisconsin" was the battle cry for the Wisconsin regiment under Arthur MacArthur (father of Douglas) that led the way to the top of supposedly impregnable mountain. That seems to have been the origin of your fight song.
Chuck 'em, Bucky ... or at least something close to that.
God Bless the Big Ten 11~
