What a gorgeous, gnarly tree.

It is still too early in the morning for the woodpeckers, I should think.

In light of President Obama's recent change in position which would allow AG Eric Holder to pursue criminal charges against some Bush appointees, it seems that the Jane Hamsher pitchforks-and-torch people may be getting their way. Will you do a blog post that addresses that?

-wonderful color behind the tree, perhaps the long, curved branch on the left could have been fully exposed with just a wee margin of space to its left, then bumped up the photo to catch more of that top right branch, counter balancing the long curved one on the left, but opinions are like a certain part of human anatomy, everyone has one.......

How like a winter hath my absence been
From thee, the pleasure of the fleeting year!
What freezings have I felt, what dark days seen!
What old December's bareness everywhere!
And yet this time removed was summer's time;
The teeming autumn, big with rich increase,
Bearing the wanton burden of the prime,
Like widow'd wombs after their lords' decease:
Yet this abundant issue seemed to me
But hope of orphans, and unfathered fruit;
For summer and his pleasures wait on thee,
And, thou away, the very birds are mute:
Or, if they sing, 'tis with so dull a cheer,
That leaves look pale, dreading the winter's near.

Hi, goesh.

I had to reach the camera out the window and tilt it around for the shot and couldn't see the screen, so show mercy.

While walking to work this morning, it was still mostly dark; the sun's promise lay eastward still.

My thoughts turn to a eulogy I am to give for an old and very good man. He loved seeing the sky over the river through the giant elms.

A favorite riverside tree by his Wisconsin cottage fell just a year ago; it was thought to be 3 or 400 years old.

I fear I am short of the task; the tree understood him more than I.

It's a beautiful day to be alive in your Madisonian neighborhood. Does something joyful that way cometh for our dear Lady of the Laws? The trees clap their hands for you.

Darcy म्हणाले...

I'm sorry about the loss of your friend Pogo. But bless you in your loving task.

I was just getting back from my morning dog walk at 6. It was chilly with the wind this morning, I'm looking forward to the warm afternoon.

Reminds me of S&G: Hazy Shade of Winter. Never even thought of Shakespeare. That's how shallow I am.

goesh म्हणाले...

Merci! You have always had a strong sense of balance so a fat mea culpa from me - a moving car no less and you have an appreciation of shadows many lack -

goesh, not a car window, but a house window, I think... Still, adequately framed for a blind shot.
