The Snow-on-Redbuds-in-Moonlight Inn.
You'll just have to imagine the picture. I was snuggled up in bed talking on the telephone for so very long, and then I went downstairs for some chocolate and, looking out the window, noticed that beautiful thin layer of snow on the redbuds, perfectly lit with moonlight and porchlight, so I got the camera, stepped into my boots and put on my long coat and crouched carefully into position by the stoop only to find that the battery was dead. I went back inside for another camera and that battery was dead too. But believe me, the night is beautiful here. I wanted to tell you that, and you can tell me anything you want.

Are the redbuds going to make it? You said they were sick once. I know the eastern species gets a fungus.
I have to admit...it puts a smile on this ol' commentin' mug to see my bloggeress so happy. No schtick, straight up.
But I still want my blender! :0
You know, this post is a testament to your writing. Without the picture, which the post is about, it's just as, if not more so, lovely.
What Zachary said.
Only this: I've been reading you from the beginning and I have to admit it's been RSS feeds for years, but this post could make me fall for your blog all over again.
Aw geez chuck b., talk about a mode spoiler.
Thanks for that lovely image to start my day.
If you're using rechargables, as you should, just recharge them every night whether they need it or not. This is especially true for lithium batteries and works for NiMH batteries, too.
You just aren't going to reliably memorize the battery levels of your various electronics. Each night before you brush your teeth just plug in your cameras, cell phone, and so on...
I've chosen to forego a car for a couple weeks just to see if I can. Walking to work this morning, albeit Florida with no sprinking of powdered sugar snow isn't the midwest (sigh) even this landscap in predawn (porch light) looks good and thanks for your observation.
Redbud? How much for an ounce?
Rockford Files or Moonlighting?
Too close to call.
The tulips are too excitable, it is winter here.
Look how white everything is, how quiet, how snowed-in
I am learning peacefulness, lying by myself quietly
As the light lies on these white walls, this bed, these hands.
I am nobody; I have nothing to do with explosions.
Plath, Tulips
Poetic!
House, I used to walk to work- about a mile and a half each way- and it was great. Walking home was the best. By the time I got there all the stress of the day was gone. The older I get, the more I hate driving. People here drive like third world morons and then there is construction season, which seems to last all year long.
I prefer to walk or take public trans when I can.
yeah, what Zachary said. Thanks. The earlier light was beautiful, too, with the new snow on the drive in this morning. Crunch, crunch.
Nice, very nice.
Reagan liked to tell dinner guests after a fabulous meal - wine and bread and wonderful courses - that "Some people believe that there was no chef who made this. It just happened."
Maybe so; but I still want to believe that it's not all just random material and that billions of years later, we just happen to be here at this time in this place.
Yeah, sort of "But if not...."
Julio's Moonlight Lady
There were beggars and kings
In a magical sky
There were wings in the air
And I learned how to fly.
There was me, there was you
In a world made for two, then you were gone.
Moonlight lady
Come along with me
To the bright city lights,
It's all right, 'cause tonight's on me.
Moonlight lady
Come along with me
To the bright city lights,
It's all right, 'cause tonight's on me.
Every night is so empty without you
I'm so lonely since you went away
If by chance we could dance to the music
Let it play,
Let me say...
Moonlight lady
Come along with me
To the bright city lights,
It's all right, 'cause tonight's on me.
Moonlight lady
Come along with me
To the bright city lights,
It's all right, 'cause tonight's on me
Go
And beat your crazy head against the sky
Try
And see beyond the houses and your eyes
It's ok to shoot the moon
Anything I want? Cool.
You are a lame, smug, and lazy professor.
May I say, Robert, please go to hell.
Pogo - let him go - free speech is not just for those you agree with.
She is not lazy.
The sun never shines on some people. It must suck to be you, Robert.
Pogo was engaging in free speech of his own.
Snow on your redbuds (and my lilac bush): very nice. I also liked the effect of the two cardinals perched inside the lilac, two bright beacons of red.
Snow on the sidewalk, melted down to ice that's only occasionally slippery: Not so nice.
Robert Jay reminds me of this in Catcher in the Rye:
"That's the whole trouble. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "Fuck you" right under your nose. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "Fuck you." I'm positive."
I've been waiting since I toddled... for the great relief of having you to talk to...
Aw come on now, Robert Jay, you didn't have to be so nice. We would've liked you anyway.
...only to find that the battery was dead. I went back inside for another camera and that battery was dead too. But believe me...
Yeah, sure. I had the perfect blog comment last night, but when I went to post it my laptop battery was dead. And now I've forgotten it...but I want credit for it anyway!

Well, post a picture of it!
I thought everybody had extra batteries so that never happens.
The D-90 has a meter that displays the charge level. A charge lasts f-o-r-e-v-e-r.
My kodak had two extra batteries. One wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 or so pics so I tossed it.
