Those drawings have a very Ramones/Talking Heads/CB-GB from the late 1970s/early 1980s -type vibe to them.
I think it reflected the "punk" or "new wave" sensibility at the time when people sought the creative opportunity to produce and appreciate art that was "good enough" to share, dropping the necessity (or pretense?) that it always must be fine art.
