You know, it's not easy being a plant. You try to spread your wings, to break out of that plant box, and someone is always trying to knock you back down. You're a plant, dammit, and that's all you'll ever be.

I have a suggestion: All those who thought of vegetation first, and not manufacturing plants, when they read this headline, should think twice before offering their opinions on how GM and Chrysler should run their businesses.

No, they've shamelessly decided to not raise rates for consumers for years. "Modernizing" plants is extremely expensive and in many cases offers highly marginal benefits.

My lesson from this is that congress is once again abrogating its responsibilities. The courts would not have to act if a) congress wrote laws that weren't intentionally ambiguous and b) if the federal government simply got out of many of these issues.
