Harry Shearer likes "making these guys walk around." ("These guys" = Obama and McCain.)

You will know them by their walk. Of course, Bush had the better walk in 2000 and 2004.

ADDED: Want to see some debate walking? Watch the last 30 seconds of this clip from a Bush-Gore debate. Gore does the stupidest debate walking I have ever seen, and Bush's reaction to it never fails to make me laugh out loud.

And check out the clueless look on Gore's face at the end. So pleased with himself. He thinks he's doing so well that he triumphantly re-intones the magic phrase "Dingell-Norwood."

Could Shearer's face be anymore distended from the perspective of the camera looking up at him as if he were looking down his nose at us and then making these 'comedic' jibes about choosing your President based on their walk?

Harry, I liked you in Spinal Tap, but you have the political acumen of a period at the end of this sentence.

Mmm....another Hollywood clown literally staring down his nose at America.

I look forward to four years of him, Cho, Bernhardt, and other Malibu millionaires lording it over us penniless little people with their clever verbiage.

Shearer starts by saying that the winning Presidential candidate always gives us the opposite of what he promises. Then he never says what it is that Obama is promising and then says that Budweiser is a Mafia organization. Or something.

And the word that comes to mind regarding Obama isn't 'feline'...It'sfey.

I believe that's how many "actors" make themselves look bigger in the POV genre of porn.

Geez, did we make the right(ish) choice in 2000 or what? (OK, I voted for Browne, and who knows what he would've done after 9/11.)

What the hell is Gore trying to do there? Intimidate him? He looks like he's gonna throw down! And Bush regards him as a trifle! He makes a clear, easy to understand point!

Where the hell is this Bush?

I didn't enjoy the short experience of being Harry Shearer's dentist.

As for McCain's walk it should be pointed out, and I know Jimmy Carter doesn't like to hear it but John McCain was TORTURED IN VIETNAM! for 5 years and as a result of the torture and lack of proper medical care he has lost the full use of his hands, his upper body is deformed and he walks with a limp.

But then I wouldn't expect a Hollywood, liberal fucking wimp WHO CALLED THE POLICE TO GET A HARMLESS POSSUM OUT OF HIS DAMN HOUSE!!!!!! to understand what John McCain was forced to endure.

I think it was the 2000 Newsweek post-election wrapup that said that Gore thought he could get in Bush's personal space. Guess it didn't work.

Can't get the debate one to play.

I voted for Bush twice for govenor when I lived in Texas ans twice for president but have never considered him all that good and certainly not a conservative but gee whiz Gore and Kerry? Democrats please don't blame Bush, you "elected" him.

Gore couldn't win his home state and Kerry couldn't even win New Mexico, a state with more tree huggers than trees.

Yeah, ha ha ha! Gore looks like such a nerd in that clip! He tries to make a point using actual facts! The loser even names a bill! He knows stuff, that wanker.

Good thing GW came back at 'im, answering with a pleasant but empty generality. His folksy, let's have a beer together demeanor really showed up that nerd Gore.

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

blake म्हणाले...

Chill, Monty. It was eight years ago, time to let it go. A New Day Is Dawning!

I have no idea what they were talking about, but Gore came off like an ass even if he were absolutely right in what he was saying. It was a dumb gambit.

Hey, that's cool. However, there is not an entry on Henry Waxman. No nostril tag could possibly be complete without him.

Browne would have done nothing. He was to milquetoast to be a proper President. Good losertarian ideals, just a bad character to be leading the country.

What the hell is Gore trying to do there? Intimidate him? He looks like he's gonna throw down! And Bush regards him as a trifle! He makes a clear, easy to understand point!

Gore tried to look like he was being aggressive, yet non-threatening by encroaching on Bush's time and his space. You can literally see the body language in it. Gore gets up quickly, but then slowly approaches him from the left side as a peripheral movement to catch the attention of Bush, which he did, but was summarily dismissed by the look and nod that said, "What the fuck do you think you are doing?"

Where the hell is this Bush?

That Bush is no longer. He is now a beaten shell of a man from the incessant shrilling and whining from the 'angry' left. They literally defined squeaky wheel and he is the worse off for it. You will never see that Bush again. So much wasted opportunity. What a shame.

Gore looked like a complete douche nozzle. He has that look on his face that makes me want to punch it just to see another expression. He was an arrogant prick then, he's a completely vapid and an irrational, unhinged prick now. That wonker.

The Gore-Bush clip reminds us of how incredibly fat Al Gore has become. And what a twit he was. Bush sliced and diced him with a single glance.

I tried hard to understand what Gore was saying when he went on and on about Dingle Norwood. Bush response: "The difference is that I can get it done." That was all he needed to say.

Gore would have been President if he carried his home state of Tennessee. The Gore name is all over the state. But the people of Tennessee knew that Gore was a twit and voted accordingly.

I'm voting democratic this year. Might have in 2000 and 2004 if the Democrats--the party of the people--had not nominated a self absorbed overgrown preppy each time. Had Kerry or Gore been Republicans, they would have been laughed off the stage.

I love Bush's little nod thing when Gore did that (what a ja thing to do, Gore). It was very Texas.

Aww, watching this makes me feel sorry for Bush all over again. I think it would have been a different world if he could have really worked with the opposition and they hadn't acted like such raving lunatics. Not that I like everything Bush did, but it could have been different, tonally.

2 "unfortunately's"

Bush then vs. now, and that Gore is now as he was then.

I'll add a third - Bush then makes McCain now look like a stick looking for an ass...

No kidding. His carbon footprint has exploded.

अनामित म्हणाले...

The amazing thing about this video is that Bush is absolutely clear and coherent compared to Sarah Palin. It's astonishing how bad Palin is.

Dingell, not "Dingle." Though Dingle is funnier. Dingell is not particularly funny at all.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Thanks, Hector. I corrected the spelling, but you know, I actually checked the spelling (somewhere) before writing that, because I didn't think that was right.

Brian Doyle म्हणाले...

Gore did do well. He crushed Bush in those debates, and he won the popular vote.

That you can still find the 2000 election so funny is creepy, given what an epic disaster Bush has been for the country.
