As tears streamed down her face, she heard a “gentle and friendly voice” behind her saying, “That’s okay, I’ll pay for her.”
Mary turned around to see a tall man whom she had never seen before.
-He had a gentle and kind voice that was still firm and decisive. The first thing I thought was, Who is this man?
Although this happened 20 years ago....

The Barack-Apocrypha.
The early miracles of Barack Obama. Did they really happen?

Good Lord!
Give me a freaking break.
Glad he is a nice guy and glad he had a hundred bucks on him - but I really don't see how this is relevant.
Larry -
You got it exactly right.
God, this is going to be a long week. Help us, Ann, we need more puppy diversions.
It's relevant because this hagiography shows Sen. Obama's supporters that he is well intentioned and kind hearted. He means well. That, thereby, excuses his or his supporters' excesses or authoritarian impulses. Combine that with his charisma (and the accompanying martyr vibe), and you get something that will be quite an experience.
Oh. My. Lord.
And no, that isn't a reference to the deity of Obama.
I really hope the bloom falls off the Obama rose fairly quickly after he is elected. Not that I wish him ill or for things in this country to get worse, but I really don't think I can handle politics without a healthy does of cynicism. It's not healthy.
He Is The One...Magnificent...
Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
Hmm. Mohammed Ali was once at an airport. A woman had been pilfered of her purse and had no money to get home. He stopped and talked softly to her, then handed her a hundred dollar bill and left.
Ali's story is real.
Seriously??
It's funny to see protestants, atheists and so-called pagans (of the "Neo" kind) trying to outdo their Catholic ancestors.
I was semi-listening yesterday to a conversation held next to my desk at work by two black co-workers where they linked The One (PBUH)as a second coming of Christ, the "Rapture" and the teachings of (Saint) John the Evangelist. It was truly disturbing, but it is not uncommon.
My "pagan" co-workers call him a "light carrier" or a "light worker". I am not making this up.
There was a $103 surcharge for two suitcases twenty years ago?
Isn't that a more recent trend?
Beside, didn't Sen. Larry Craig also give someone $100 in airport once?
Satire is dead.
There was a contingent of O-bot protesters at the Penn State University Park Palin rally last night. They had a big oversize sheet strung between two-by-fours declaring themselves to be 'Obamaville'. I was talking with a journalism student about whether they were intentionally evoking the Hooverville concept - ABOUT THEIR OWN CANDIDATE - or if they were just that historically illiterate.
Well, that and the cult-of-personality placards with oversize images of their Dear Leader.
That does it. I'm voting for Obama!!!
The story may have happened, but it's also structurally related to the stories that circulated about Jesus after his resurrection and about Elvis after his death. The book "Reflections on the Birth of the Elvis Faith" has a nice discussion of the phenomenon.
I saw this in the Norwegian press a few weeks backs and was wondering when it would make its way over to the US.
There was no deification slant to the coverage here, more about a local's encounter with someone who is world famous. See nothing wrong with that.
These people will follow the liberal illuminati anywhere. Hope they're ready to go to the poor house.
That letter that's making the rounds doesn't include the full text of that Norwegian newspaper story the blogger translated; see here .
Seems the lady at the airport asked Obama for his address so that she could send the money to him. He gave an address in Kansas.
Hmmm...
