The concept of anonymous charities is completely lost on this generation. It's like a tree-falls-in-the-forest thing: If a white person does something positive and doesn't tell you about it, does it happen? This comes from the competitive aspect of it.

It also comes from viewing the world, not as what you are becoming in terms of developing internal character and wisdom (unique to you, regardless of who sees or knows), but from viewing the world by how other's perceive you and react to you.

This comes from a world and self-view vantage point that is from the outside looking in, not from the inside looking out.

One thing I think I learned when I was younger was that you will never ski well under the lift if you are thinking about what the people on the lift are thinking about your skiing under the lift.

You can only ski well by focusing on skiing the actual terrain you are encountering, damn the people on the lift.

"White people want overwhelmingly to believe that their class and their group--the upper-middle-class left--is color-blind. It's sort of interesting to see that desperation for post-race emerge out of this group."

Yeah? It's "sort of interesting" that the group you think is desperate to see themselves as color-blind are the same group that support quotas, affirmative action, &c.

My main beef with "Stuff White People Like" is that it's not funny. Tired, trite, jejune even, but not funny as such.

White People like using words like jejune .

The regular, plain ole White folks, for lack of a better description, prefer words like lame, weak, or dull.

SWPL is not meant to be funny, it's meant to be biting and disrespectful towards the preferences and prejudices of the Good White People, the left liberal upper middle class.
