"Classes My Top-Tier Law School Should Have Offered as Warnings About the Profession."

Eh. It's a McSweeney's list. Throwing Things pointed me there. I think it's whiny and dumb, but I thought you should know about it. How about a list of warnings about reading McSweeney's?

Actually, I believe law school (any tier) does, in fact, teach most of these courses. You just have to be paying attention to what your classmates are doing.

Three things on my McSweeney's Warning List:

1. Typography promises more than website delivers.

2. Content boring.

3. Content dumb.

I don't see how that law is specific to law. You can replace Legal and Law in the list with just about anything.

My first comment makes more sense if you replace the first law with list.

Oy.

I don't know about whiny and dumb. It's airy and insubstantial, like puff pastry.

Wow, what happened? McSweeneys used to be funny.

I agree that it's light, and fun. I found it amusing, if insubstantial. The list format only allows so much expose anyway...

McSweeney's has always been more quirky than funny. And I enjoy bucking the trend of 'lists' designed to provoke argument (like putting Hitchens on a list of 100 greatest 'thinkers')

I laughed at this one:

4 A.M. Word Processing and the Law

It's how I made money through half the 1980's.

I still like this unused commentary for Fellowship of the Ring.
